The hotel/bar is set in a stunning location away from the hussle and bussle of other towns close by. Great food with great service.

A truly memorable Mother's Day Sunday lunch. From the warm welcome, to the friendly, professional service and of course the beautifully cooked food, everything was 1st rate.  Add to that, a free drink for every 'mother' and we couldn't have hoped for more.

Dean and his crew are doing a superb job here!

One of the best menus I've ever seen! Plenty of choice for anyone.

Rooms good too, especially the suites and all at very reasonable prices. A big car park, very little traffic noise despite being on a main road, the bleating of the lambs in the adjacent field was louder but more beautiful.

Two wonderful Old English sheepdogs are the final touch to the experience. 

Plenty to do in the surrounding area so make sure you stay long enough!

A very friendly  pub ,excellent  staff  and allowing  dogs in .Food  excellent  difference  sizes  all locally  bought  great  portions  , never  do u leave  still hungry. Rooms  clean and tidy. Thanks  again  to the staff  and Dean for your  hospitality  .definitely  will be back

Booked this as a short break away. Easy to book, quick confirmation. Good price. Received email allowing us to check in, as we wanted to arrive earlier, they arranged for key to be available for us. Room very comfortable, heating on for our arrival. Comfortable bed, tv, tea and coffee making facilities. Clean bathroom with shower.We booked a table for dinner in the restaurant, received a friendly warm welcome, nice staff. Great food and drink selection, reasonable prices. Breakfast was included, arranged what we wanted and what time the previous evening then just turn up at arranged time. Great service from Dean, a really friendly guy. Ate in the restaurant again on 2nd night as we were really impressed. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hunters Moon and would highly recommend either a stay there or just going for a meal if you are in the area.

There is nothing about this property to dislike. Totally idyllic. Perfect.

Brilliant food, nice comforting fresh food. Quality food and a great atmosphere. Service was great, recommendations of menu items due to big menu that caters for all tastes. Had a brilliant time will come again for sure. Highly recommended.

A thoroughly enjoyable stay, from checking in to the time i left. Food choice and quality was excellent along with the draught beer. I will definitely return and will make a point of doing so.

An absolutely lovely place to stay for a few days. Used it as a base to visit various sites around the area. I would highly recommend The Hunters Moon. Ace place!

A lovely place to stay

Lovely place to stay!

This is the fifth time in two years we have stayed here. Dean and his team have always been very welcoming and made us feel very welcome. The variety of food on offer in the restaurant is exceptional and what we like is, they offer you the choice of a small or regular size meal, great for those with a smaller appetite. His breakfasts really set you up for the day. The room is always clean and well stocked with tea, coffee etc. and bottled water is complementary. Great place for a short break. Looking forward to our next visit.

We stayed here as I was judging at Dorset County Show at the weekend. What an amazing place! With both of us being coeliac, I was amazed at the amount of coeliac friendly food! This included full English breakfast, starters, mains and puddings as well! Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and they were all so friendly and happy to help. The room (the suite) was spacious and clean with a very comfortable king size bed and was special and quiet, despite being beside the road. We will be recommending all our friends to stay here in the future. One of the best places I have ever stayed in!

Our stay at hunters moon was great. We not only stayed there but we ate there too. The sunday carvery wasnt as good as expected but we were late eating. Rooms could do with little update. But bedding was immaculate.Manager was a great host. Went above and beyond to help everyone. Will definitely stay again. When in the area. Thanks for your hospitality

We had a two night stay here having booked some three hours before we arrived. Our host Dean as well as all his staff were so welcoming and professional and had an eye on deal. Menu choice was really hard as there were so mainly mouthwatering things on there. We booked a superior double room and it was amazing. So much so we have booked to go back to another even nicer room in three weeks time. Says it all really.

Last minute booking that was a brilliant find

Today, the staff of TheHunter's Moon certainly went "above and beyond" for pure KINDNESS!!  

Today is Father's Day and when, at the last minute, as it were, yesterday morning, we phoned the VERY popular Hunter's Moon, asking for a table for 3 for Sunday lunch, we were told that tables for lunch for 3 people  on Father's Day were,alas! fully booked.  

  However, as we happened to be passing the pub yesterday about noon , we called in on spec just as  they were opening and I explained that my  100-year-old Father-in-Law (who, with various family members, has been Sunday Lunch-ing at the Hunter's Moon for many years and really LIKES it there!!))  was hoping for a Father's Day "outing"!!   I asked if there might be any way at all  that we might possibly  somehow be squeezed in--even if it meant that my husband and Father-in-law  lunching at a table for 2  and me, perhaps, eating out in the Garden....

Being flexible and extremely accommodating, Dean explained that by  jiggling  the reservations a bit, he could  offer us a table for noon, but  that he needed it back for 1:30, and might we be happy with that??  We were delighted!

Not only did  we have our table, but Dean very KINDLY "escorted" my 100 year-old Father-in-Law from the car  in the parking lot to the table inside the pub, and got him settled in!   After a lovely lunch,  he had my husband bring the car round from the parking lot to a convenient "front door" facing the road and he again "escorted" our centenarian into his seat in the car!!!   

For the proprietor of a very busy and fully-booked pub restaurant to stop what he was doing and take the time to escort one of his elderly guests from car to table and then back again  to car was not only impressive, but extraordinarily KIND "above and beyond" !!!!    THANK YOU all at the Hunter's Moon!!!!!

KINDNESS, "above and beyond"....

A few of my colleagues have stayed here over a few nights and said how lovely the owner was and he assisted when Expedia didn't send through the booking quick enough but was kind enough to put up in an upgraded room at no extra cost to ourselves - highly recommend and will definitely be using this accommodation again when my trainers are down that way.

The welcome we had was lovely. 
Our room is superb, attention to detail and the finishing touches are the icing on the cake.
The menu is very extensive as is the “Specials Board”
Food is cooked to a very high standard and presentation is great.
Breakfast is also done to a high standard and is freshly cooked, the porridge is just how it should be.
The only downside…. We had to check out 
Superb location for touring the area.

This is a little gem.

I needed somewhere to stay at short notice near Minterne Magna.     I knew of the Hunters Moon as it  had popped up in my family history research and I discovered that my Great, great, great grandfather owned it when it was known as the White Horse over 160 years ago!     It turned out to be a very nice pub with a great atmosphere and friendly staff.   It was quite busy which is always a good sign and there was a good choice of beers including local ones.     The room I had booked turned out to be comfortable and clean .  The bed was also very comfortable.     A good selection of options for breakfast which was on offer which nicely cooked and well presented.      All in all I was very pleased with my stay which was good value for money.    I'd certainly be happy to stay here again.   😊
