The Avondale

Our second stay at The Avondale. The staff are brilliant. Can't do enough for you. 
Comfy beds. Clean rooms which are quiet with good showers.
Breakfast is wonderful and freshly cooked. 
Would recommend to anyone visiting Seaford. 

The Avondale was a pleasant find in Seaford. 
The family sized room was clean and stocked well with tea, coffee etc. 
Nice bedding and comfortable. 
Staff were all very helpful. 
Breakfast was lovely with a good choice. 
Parking was a bit of a problem with Seaford being busy, but down the road street parking was available. 
Good value for money. 

The owners are really welcoming it is like a home from home. Breakfast was lovely plenty to choose from. Room was small but clean tidy and bed was really comfortable. Great location as not far from centre and train station. Had two nights there will be going back.

Stayed here for one night on 6th September to attend a friend’s funeral in Seaton. Quite a few of our crowd stayed here as we all travelled up from Cardiff. The Avondale was extremely clean, with lovely white cotton sheets on the beds as well as spotless white fluffy towels. The decor is a little dated but there was a nice homely feel to the place. The bed was very comfortable and the cooked breakfast was absolutely first class with high quality ingredients. I forgot to inform the owners that I couldn’t have cows milk, but they were able to supply me with lactose free milk without any problem at all. My husband said it was the best cooked breakfast he’d had in any place that we’d stayed! The lady owner (Jane?) had a good sense of humour too.....just as well, with us Welsh lot descending on her place! If you’re  looking for a good value B&B for a couple of nights I would recommend the Avondale.

 

You  would struggle to get better value for money in this area . The hotel was clean and comfortable and the Breakfast was superb with friendly waitress service . The breakfast menu was extensive and the homemade marmalade and jam was delicious . The bed was really comfortable and we had a sea view which was a bonus . The only downside was the bathroom had a sloping roof which meant my partner who is 6'2 could not fit under the shower ! But that was not a deal breaker . We would definitely use again

Just returned from a 2 night stay at The Avondale - this accommodation is just outside of Seaford town centre which is about 5 min walk away. Nice friendly staff, we had the family room which was a double a single beds with what looked like another pull out bed - the room was comfortable but some of the decor needed some attention especially in the ensuite. The selection at breakfast was great - you will not leave feeling hungry! The parking is on the road outside and is a little hit and miss to get a spot immediately outside. Overall we enjoyed our stay as the location is great for those wanting to explore the South Downs etc

The Avondale hotel is just out of the main town, three minutes to all main shops, easy going friendly and helpful owners come staff. I booked a family room which had a double bed, a single and a fold up bed, spacious room with plenty of complimentary tea, coffee and toiletries. There was quite a diverse collection of other guests who all said they liked the place. Breakfast is quite an experience, pack an appetite for a locally sourced FULL English, very tasty! Be prepared for stairs, specially if on the top floor, no  lift but a stair lift to second floor. One gripe, it is free parking but on the street and very sought after by shoppers as well as residents, you have to keep a look out for a space and get in there quick, some cars didn't  move for two days. Loved it and would go again.

I have read many reviews for this 'Hotel' which concern me as there is a huge difference in comments. I think the more you pay the better the room- a bit obvious maybe but a standard should be evident throughout.
Our booking was an overnight stay. We paid for an ensuite room with breakfast. The room was at the top of the building so a few flights of stairs to encounter.
The biggest let down was the state of the bathroom. A shower that has a significant amount of mould growing. A shower door base rusty and dirty. A toilet that has seen better days. Ceiling paper dropping down and flaking paint waiting to fall. A broken tile on the wall. Dingy and unwelcoming. Needless to say we just didn't want to take a shower. Unable to comment on whether the shower worked efficiently.
The room was dull, bulbs needing replacing, bed a little small in width and creaking with any movement, paintwork around the windows cracked and peeling.
I can tell which other reviewers must have been in the same room. Clearly inferior to others. 
Tired and dated and requires updating both inside and out as the front does not look smart and welcoming either. 
The owners should not advertise free parking without stating you have to find somewhere in the surrounding roads.
What is shocking is the fact the same comments, dating back a long way, reveal that nothing has been done to rectify the poor standard on offer.
Who checks out the hotels? How many rooms are inspected?
The only comment I do agree with is the breakfast was enjoyable.

No Return For Us

Stayed here for 1 night with family, the decor was completely miss match and needed to be up dated, all the furniture was old and stained. There was a lot of mould in the shower, toilet needed to have a good bleach, the sheets were clean, but if you looked under the sheets at the mattress , it was very stained.
The windows rattled all night, it was very windy outside and you could hear the wind whistling through the window, the black out curtains were longer than the curtains and they showed the dirt at the bottom. 
There was a wicker chair in the room, the arms were falling to bits.
The shelf in the room needed a good clean
The rooms were equipped with a kettle and plenty of refreshments, another positive, there was a tv in the room.
The breakfast was very good, it was plentiful and the catered for most.
I think on the whole, this hotel needs to be refurbished 

Never again

The decor at The Avondale is very dated and tired looking. It took me a long time to locate the info pack with the wifi password in it - it was on top of the wardrobe! I had an average breakfast. The staff were not very welcoming, in fact I had the impression they would rather not be there....
