Various family members stayed at the  Mill House for a family wedding - it was wonderful. Michael the owner was so patient with changing around bookings, breakfasts delicious, rooms peaceful, very accommodating with our times. Such a lovely place, thank you.

We were welcomed by Mike, a very friendly host who showed us the house and grounds which were stunning... the local pub for dinner is also recommended.our breakfast was beautifully done and  Mike was very attentive to our needs.
We would highly recommend this delightful b&b .. thankyou Mike for a lovely weekend..

A wonderful stay

Beautiful house and gardens. The owner, Michael, made us feel very welcome in his family home. The room was amazing with views over the garden and the bird life was very varied. The village is quiet with very little traffic and so an undisturbed night's sleep is guaranteed.
There are 4 bedrooms. We stayed 3 nights and found we were not disturbed by any other guests. Michael did all the work himself both inside and outside. 
Breakfast was a mixture of cereal. fruit, full English, toast and tea/coffee. We were welcome to come and go as we pleased throughout the day. 
We would definitely stay here again

Beautiful, quiet location. Handy for Salisbury and Stonehenge

Well Today i have been a busy boy and although i wanted to get home thought it best to stop over, this was following driving the wrong way down a one way street, I had already warned wife i wouldn’t be home as the jobs were taking longer than normal.
Anyways that’s not the purpose of the post, the only accommodation available at a reasonable cost was an hour and a bit away and on my way home, By reasonable cost i mean less than £200! for one night, so i Checked into a B&B (£85), normally i do not do B&B but I was not paying Minimum £150(premier inn who i hate or Britannia Hate more) or £200+ for a "nice hotel".
So I ended up at the below link, The Mill House Berwick Saint James, The host is what we all call eccentric and a really nice gentleman, in fact Old School Gent. So far a perfect host and after looking at reviews I am seriously looking forward to breakfast. the grounds are lovely, the area perfect and the room very clean. Would i stay again hell yeh!!!! not often i recommend a place but "if" you love the countryside or need a place near Salisbury (its 20min's ish from Salisbury racecourse) then forget the big hotels come and stay at Michaels place The Mill house Berwick Saint James. (And no i am not being paid to write this!)

Perfect Country retreat

We wished we could have stayed here longer!  What a lovely old B&B and Michael was the ultimate host. Our room overlooked the back garden with huge windows and a very comfy bed.  The furnishings were so tasteful with fresh roses on the desk.The weather was overcast but we imagined ourselves here on a warm sunny day just sitting in the garden reading and doing nothing!!
Michael booked a table for us down the road (we walked along the river path)at the Boot Inn. More on that delicious dinner!
The next morning Michael cooked our eggs to order perfectly!!  Delicious breakfast and coffee with fresh fruit, toast etc.  If you are in this area do stay here, you will love it!

Beautiful place, peaceful and lovely host

Its impossible not to want to come back. Michael the owner was so nice and welcoming to us. Wonderful and delicious home made breakfast all prepared by Michael. I hope we can come again soon. Just 8 minutes away from the Stonhenge circle of Stones. Full of good energy. Highly recommended place to stay, very peaceful and quiet.

Magic and wonderful scenario. The house is so beautiful. Its like being home

The hotel is set in a gorgeous setting, with tables and chairs available outside the hotel bar overlooking the water. Bar lunch menu was great, just a shame the food had ran out and we could only order sandwich’s. However the sandwiches served were excellent. There’s also a lovely beer garden to the back of the hotel near the canal. It was a stunningly beautiful day so the restaurant had ran out of a lot of food, which was fine as we headed into Salisbury, which was only a short walk into the town (approximately 14 minutes walk). Our room was on the third floor, quite a tight corridor, low ceilings was quite tricky to navigate with bags. Room was lovely, the hotel provided ear plugs which were needed as our room was facing the back beer garden, which was quite noisy. Slept really well. Was looking forward to a nice cold shower in the morning as it had been a really hot day/evening but unfortunately this wasn’t going to be the case! Turned the shower on and the water pressure was soo bad! Would have taken days to wash my hair, so had to opt for a quick ish body wash which wasn’t ideal! Breakfast was included within our room...we arrived in time for breakfast, unfortunately!! Slow service, cooked breakfast was over cooked and inedible!! Lovely setting just a shame about the water pressure, lack of food options available and the bad breakfast! Staff were nice, I would visit again but would ask for a room with better water pressure! Short drive to Stonehenge which was the reason for our stay, approximately 15/20minute drive. No Uber’s available from this location though, but it was an easy drive there. 

Fab Location

Richard was there to give me a friendly welcome when I arrived. What a lovely setting!
A beautifully clear chalk stream runs past the front of the house and the grounds were full of all varieties of climbing roses reaching up high into the trees. Inside the house there were pictures, photo portraits of his family and books everywhere. A house full of life. A house well lived in to make a cosy home. I loved it. Richard’s full English breakfasts with unlimited coffee set me up for the whole day. I would liked to have stayed longer.

Lovely old house in a beautiful setting

Just as you imagine a typical English country house, a beautiful garden, spacious family room, with elaborate furnishings, a very friendly owner and delicious breakfast, a short distance from Stonehenge and a great pub, The Swan.

What a lovely place.

We were travelling to Devon and decided for a night stop over near Salisbury. The Mill House is a wonderful time warp of old English elegance. The host was charming and helpful. His cooked breakfast was delicious. The garden is large and beautifully set out with both manicured and wild meadow patches. We enjoyed just basking in this peaceful setting sharing it with the occasional hare darting through. The clear stream running to the side of the property is ornamented with swans, ducks and fish. There is a path along the side of the stream to the village pub which passes through a national trust field scattered with the meadow plants including an occasional wild orchid. Our bedroom was comfortable and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
