My brothers and sisters and I had a wonderful night’s stay at this charming bnb. We all slept very well and enjoyed a good breakfast. Our hosts were very welcoming. The gardens are beautiful. We will be delighted to return next year.

This  guest house is set within a rural location and yet located close enough to explore and enjoy the surrounding attractions such as Highclere Castle (Downton Abbey), Bombay Sapphire Distillery, not too far from Burford (gateway to the Cotswolds) and Winchester (approx 60 minutes). 
We chose this location as we were seeking an English Country experience. We were not let down. Our hosts, Rupert and Charlotte were welcoming, pleasant and helpful, offering suggestions of little pubs to visit and local attractions to see.  The bedroom provided was warm and comfortable and the breakfasts served were in their delightful large dining area. It was nice to take our gin and tonics out to their manicured garden in the late afternoon.
Overall, an excellent stay in a nice part of England countryside.
PS: a visit to the red house (pub) is highly recommended by us.

We have stayed at Rookwood Farmhouse a number of times and have always enjoyed our time there. We have had different rooms but have really enjoyed the Blue Room which is in the main House and overlooks the magnificent garden. Guests are able to access the garden and spend time there if they wish and also in the garden is a swimming pool which is also available to guests at no extra charge.

The property is clean and well maintained with the rooms tastefully furnished to match the character and style of an English country farmhouse.

Breakfast is served in the Dining Room of the house where there is one large table to seat guests. We enjoy this arrangement as we have met some really nice people over breakfast and have enjoyed talking with them and this is part of the pleasure of staying in such a property. The food was good and was prepared when we presented ourselves for breakfast and there is always good choice available.

The hosts, Charlotte and Rupert,  have always been welcoming and helpful and always showed interest in whether we needed anything and that was everything OK. 

The location is good for us being convenient for the M4 and A34 but in a quiet rural setting. As city dwellers we really enjoy quiet peacefulness of the location.

There is nothing negative that we would put in a review and have only pleasant memories of our visits to Rookwood Farmhouse.

From the moment we arrived until we left we were very well looked after by Rupert and Charlotte.  The house is like a museum and the historical family associations is amazing.  As we were interested, we were given a tour of the house, its antiquities and family stories. 

The garden tour followed and it really has to be seen to be believed.  We were told about the weddings that take place in the grounds, it would be a fabulous place for the wedding photographs.  Also a great place to sit with a glass of wine and just admire 35 years of fantastic gardening.

A great choice at breakfast and plenty to eat.  Highly recommended.

My husband and I had a delightful stay in the Blue Room at Rookwood House this past weekend.  Upon arriving, Rupert gave us a tour of the house, and then, the garden... I must admit I was truly speechless when I experienced the beauty of this stunning presentation of plants from around the world.; beautifully manicured and arranged in the most stunning configuration for a semi-domestic garden.  We truly felt like we were walking through our own secret garden.  

As you will see from the website, Rookwood Farmhouse also offers a beautiful setting for weddings other similar events/activities.  And I can see why.  We highly recommend a stay at this hidden gem; and if you can find time to escape your exploration of the garden, you can visit Highclere Castle, the city of Newbury, Donnington Castle, King john's castle in Odiham; and many other neat places.

Myself and my husband had a very comfortable, peaceful 2 night stay in the Blue Room. Rookwood is a beautiful house, lots of vintage ornaments & furniture. The gardens are beautiful. Charlotte a very kind hostess, cooked lovely breakfast on both mornings. Thank you !

My wife and I stayed for a couple of nights on the recommendation of a local family. Charlotte was immediately welcoming and it was like staying as a family friend. The ‘Blue room’ was very comfortable with double aspect views of the amazing gardens and highly recommended. The drawing room is a comfortable and relaxed environment to sit in. The bathroom was well appointed with a powerful shower and fresh towels on both days. The was a good choice for breakfast including smoked salmon and scrambled eggs.

A beautifully well presented farmhouse located in a quaint village on the outskirts of Newbury with a good access road into the town. Stunning gardens and surrounds, kept and maintained to a very high standard. The high standards continue into the farmhouse with immaculately clean interiors and some stunning antiques located throughout. My room was extremely comfortable with great views over the wonderful gardens and decorated to an extremely high standard with top quality bedding and furnishings. A homely, extremly comfortable and classy venue in the beautiful Berkshire countryside. Thank you to Charlotte for being such a wonderful, friendly and accommodating host.

The owners and hosts could not of been more hospitable.  Our room was lovely, overlooking the heated swimming pool. Breakfast was fantastic and set us up for our day at Highclere Castle which is just a 10 minute drive away from the farmhouse. The grounds are wonderful and so pretty.  The owners have three dogs which I was worried about initially when I saw them as my mum is not a dog person. BUT they are lovely dogs and very well behaved. I thoroughly recommend this B&B.

Stayed a couple of nights to explore the area. Property has lovely gardens to walk round and their is a pool for guests to use. Hosts Rupert & Charlotte were excellent and we enjoyed conversations over breakfast. Will book again when staying in this area.

Rookwood is a a great bnb with comfortable and cosy en-suite bedrooms. The WOW factor of the bnb is the swimming pool and stunning gardens! Breakfast was also delicious. We stayed here with our 6months old baby and the owners very accommodating and made sure that we had everything we needed. We would highly recommend staying here!

Several reviews of this B&B have criticised it for being like ‘living in someone’s house’ - well isn’t that what most B&B’s are? This ‘B&B’ has rooms in the detached annex and in the main house where the proprietor lives. I had an initial minor problem with my first room (lost key) that was very quickly resolved by the proprietor allocating me a different room. Both rooms were beautifully appointed, clean and smelt fresh. The proprietor and her husband were nothing but polite and courteous throughout my stay and breakfast was delicious. For those people that don’t like staying in ‘someone’s house’ then book a Plc chain of hotels with no atmosphere. Great stay highly recommended.
