The Sabhal

The nicest place we stayed in The Highlands. The room is lovely and the location beautiful. Rachel was welcoming. We appreciated the groceries when we arrived. We were hiking on Skye and this was a great base to travel from. Big room, spotlessly clean.

The Sabhal is absolutely charming, and the perfect place for a family or friends traveling together. The renovated byre has two beautiful en-suite rooms. Located on the family farm, it’s walking distance from the loch. We very much appreciated the food supplies Rachael had left for us; we didn’t have to worry about stopping for breakfast items before arriving. I highly recommend this lovely, tranquil accommodation.

Such a lovely treat!  The view from our room was out onto sheep pasture, and the pastures back to a loch that was an easy, sheep-filled walk from our room.  Rachael is delightful.  The room was immaculate and very comfortable.  We so appreciated the milk, eggs, bread, butter, coffee and tea left for us.  It's just 10 minutes from Portree and on the road to Dunvegan.

The byre has been converted to two luxurious cosy dwellings, fitted and furnished to the highest standard with thought and care by Rachel and Alistair at their family croft. Each has a separate entrance as well as the communal hallway. The main room is very spacious with big armchairs as well as a huge comfortable bed. There is a small private grassy area and outdoor seating for guests' use and they are welcome to walk over the croft land down to the sea inlet. There is a fantastic shower room, excellent showers and loads of piping hot water. There are lovely towels, dressing gowns and Fair Trade toileteries provided. The little kitchenette area has a portable electric hob and cereals, fresh bread, salmon, eggs and milk are provided as well as some welcome chocolate biscuits after a busy day.  Rachel was really friendly and helpful and it was a busy weekend for the family with Shinty finals for one of the children. It was a lovely peaceful location but very accessible to Edinbane where the pub is excellent and on to Dunvegan or to Portree and up to Uig in the other direction (the Uig Hotel is fabulous too). A lovely base to return to, but also when the weather was poor it was a glorious place to hunker down and relax and read with home comforts. Thank you so much. 

Great location to explore the island from, only 15/20 minute drive into Portree for places to eat and a Coop.
Hosts were great, Rachel was so friendly from arrival to departure and her thoughtful touches in the room were appreciated. We were left a loaf of bread, lovely jams, tea, coffee, milk, salmon, choc bars - a small touch but perfect for breakfast so we could then get on with the day. 
Room was spacious, plenty of room for your things, wardrobe and drawers to put clothes away if staying a while. Kitchen area great with everything you need for snacks or even to cook meals if you choose. Shampoo/ conditioner and shower gel all provided and large size not small hotel ones. Shower was great and bed very comfy. 
Everything was perfect but small touches to help maybe some cupboards or extra shelving above kitchen area useful to give more space when cooking. Maybe a fan as it was quite warm in there at night but didn't want to open the windows due to midges. Also a net curtain would be useful across the door for when you want the light in but offers privacy when other guests are walking to the shepherds hut.

Overall great place, parking easy, 10 min walk across their land to a loch if you fancy a swim too or just a walk - would definitely stay here again if we return to Skye.

We stayed in the Boheme room. The bed was incredibly comfortable, feather duvet and pillows meant we had a great night's sleep. The shower was huge and had both rainfall and standard shower heads, easy to use and plenty of hot water. Rachael was a fabulous host, very friendly. There were lovely touches in the room from breakfast supplies to complimentary toiletries. All in all a home from home, like staying with friends. Brilliant! 

This was a lovely stay. Rachael kept us informed on the weather before we arrived and even apologised for the expected farm noises! They were separating a cow and it’s calf so there was a bit of commotion one morning. 
They have now provided stove tops in the rooms and provided an abundance of food and snacks. We were able to make our dinner in the comfort of the room so we didn’t have to drive in to Portree every evening after a days hiking!

We stayed here for 2 nights with another couple and it was perfect!! Rachel was super sweet and very accommodating, stocking up our food each day! The rooms are simply lovely and the grounds are stunning! ( be sure to take the walk to the water) It’s just a short drive to Portree which was perfect for dinner! This stay in Skye was the highlight of our week in Scotland!

The stay at The Sabhal was gorgeous! The room was stunning and all the extras with breakfast food and snacks was above and beyond. So helpful with knowledge of the area and what to do and where to go! Would highly recommend staying here for sure 👍

We stayed at The Sabhal (pronounced soul) our first night in Scotland. Rachel is a natural hostess and made us feel at home immediately. We had the pleasure of staying in both rooms during our stay. Both offer a stocked kitchenette and modern bathroom. The furnishings perfectly compliment the setting. The Sabhal was the ruler by which we measured all other accommodations during our trip and no one else came close. A must for any trip to the Portree area.

Fabulous

I stayed with a friend...she had one side, and I had the other.  There are two rooms.  Very clean and welcoming with en-suite bathrooms.  The little kitchenette was stocked with food, including waters, tea, coffee, fresh bread, milk, yogurt, cheese, deli meats, and more snack-like foods.  You'll likely make friends with the animals just outside (cows, sheep, and chickens!) It's conveniently located, as we easily traveled all around Skye for two days.  

Rachel, the owner, suggested we walk to the back of the property to a hill in order to see great views, and she did not disappoint!  From the house, it looks like the back will be more farmland, but there are mountains and water to see in the back! Completely stunning!
