Stayed here with my wife for 3 nights it made a great base for us we where on a short break and scuba diving in the area.
The room was nice and the double bed was comfortable. The breakfast was also good and the staff where friendly. The building was character full and had a nice feel about it, the property is located just behind Chesil beach and the Chesil cove Inn. No complaints would definitely recommend Beach House and would book again if we get back down here. 

met the Father and son owners who were always friendly and helpful on the phone and also when we arrived. Particularly nice that they allowed us to leave our car in their parking area much earlier and they also allowed us to book in and dump our stuff in our spacious room. Nice shower/loo room. It was very close to the sea on the other side of the stone harbour defense. It was clean and comfortable.

The Beach House is in a great location right on Chesil Beach. There's no sea view due to the coastal defences behind, but you still get a view of the back of the pebble beach (at least we did in room 7) and the sound of the waves crashing on the shore is so relaxing as you fall asleep! We were the only guests at the B&B during our stay due to horrendous weather forcing a sailing event to be cancelled. This meant we had the run of the small parking area directly behind, and we weren't disturbed by any noise (other than the wonderful sea!). We met both Peter and his son during our stay and they were both pleasant and helpful. Our room was large and basic but with everything we needed. It was nice to have a table with two chairs, which meant we could have eaten a takeaway there if we wanted to (there was very little choice for eating out in Portland itself in October - we drove into Weymouth instead). The B&B felt very in-keeping with the beach behind it, with large drafty windows, low lighting on the landing, some old fixtures and decor, maximum heating required, etc. - which some might not enjoy but we did, as it gave it a particular charm. The bed was big and comfortable. Breakfast wasn't included in our room rate but due to the lack of eating options on the isle we chose to pay for it on two out of three mornings at £7.50 per person each time. The breakfast room was very nice with a lovely coastal feel. There was juice and cereal available, and then they could accommodate our choice of cooked breakfast. Again this was basic but met our needs. From the outside The Beach House looked a bit dismal in the rain, but the building has character and we enjoyed our stay.

Leaving a late review after being prompted by seeing the B&B on “4 in a bed”. We usually opt for a 4/5 star hotel but we absolutely loved our stay at the Beach house. Beautiful settings, comfy beds, lovely breakfast and friendly host. Decor isn’t the most luxurious but I think that’s reflected in the price for the area.

We stopped at the beach house for one night only but found the room to be comfortable and well equipped. The bed was very comfortable with nice bedding, lovely and dark at night and a good cooked breakfast the next morning. The room was a little dusty in places but this didnt bother us too much, the bathroom was dated but perfectly good enough - not sure it would be warm in winter though as no central heating in the bathroom.

Basic but clean linen and comfortable beds. Don't expect anything fancy but go with the flow. Easy access to the beach and marina. Plenty of pubs and restraunts locally. We will definitely be returning

We found the Beach house fine for a base to explore the Dorset coast, there's bus stop close by. Its not a hotel so don't expect any extras. The place is old, but clean. Towels and bedding ok, breakfast good.  Friendly owners.

This B&B which used to be a pub has been nicely converted into a good B&B. We had a spacious family room with good facilities. There was some available parking at the back otherwise there is a public car park nearby where you can park free for 72hrs. We did not have to do it as there was availability at the hotel. We were within walking distance of the Cove Inn pub, the  Chesil Fish and Chips and a good curry house called the Balti island. The hotel no longer has views on the sea but that defence wall along the beach is quite a feature and you can walk on it enjoying the breathtaking views. Breakfast was good although a little on the bland side. That said we enjoyed our stay and would come back there without hesitation.

The staff were friendly, quiet and unobtrusive. Vegetarian breakfast was hot and well cooked. For the price, it was faultless. A minutes walk from Dead Man's Cover and The Cove Inn. Great location for divers and lovers of windsurfing too.

Good B&B

After trying more than a Dozen in the Weymouth area, we tried the Beach House Hotel on Portland and willdefinitely be visiting again.  I have relatives in the area so need a B&B which is friendly, clean and easy to get to.
The location is easy to get to at the end of the beach road so getting back to the "mainland" is a short and pleasant drive away.  It also backs straight onto Chesil Beach which is a real attraction (sea air and all that!!).  We didn't use it but there's space for drying watersports kit, which is also ideal.
Staff are welcoming and whilst it doesn't have the frills, it's ideal for that stopover.  There's the Cove House Inn 3 minutes away which is a great pub for drink and food.  Local shops are up a steep hill but coming down is easy so it's not a stretch.
In summary, would definitely recommend.
