If you like a quirky place this is the hotel to come to. The staff are very friendly and helpful and couldnt do enough for you. We had a full english breakfast and there was plenty of it.
If you like a hotel with a story low beams, and lots of history this is the place for you.

I held a birthday party here. What a fantastic spread and such courteous staff. Jane made the whole thing run smoothly and made it a very special event for all concerned. Thank you Jane and staff.. Far more than we expected 

What a delight… a beautiful historic and rustic farm house..  loved it from the moment we arrived and it only got better. 

Very warm and friendly welcome. 

Room number 1 was huge.. high ceilings, and lots of space. A lovely cool room on a very hot day.

Very clean.  

Had a very lovely nights sleep in a comfortable bed and no noises or distractions. 

Breakfast.. such lovely polite team, food was fast and generous portions and delicious.

Would definitely recommend. 

Beautiful quintessentially English hotel set against the idyllic countryside of the South Downs. Thoroughly memorable stay and great breakfast, lunch served in the beautiful garden. The hotel is on Chalk Farm which inspired George Orwell’s Animal Farm making this a historic place to visit, not just a place to stay. Proceeds go to support children with learning difficulties

My now husband, and I just had our wedding here on 30.07.22 and it was the most perfect, magical day we could have asked for. Chalk Farm hotel is a stunning venue. We had an outdoor wedding with full use of the inside. The staff were amazing, they put my Vision into reality and it couldn’t have been more perfect. The layout, decor and attention to detail was next to none. Nothing was too much trouble for them and it felt like they really cared. All our friends and family said how beautiful the venue is and how amazing our wedding was, and we absolutely agree. We couldn’t fault it and couldn’t have done it without the help of the team. Food was incredible, staff incredible, night porters incredible. Just all round perfect experience and we couldn’t be more excited, happy and grateful to be Mr & Mrs Dunn and embark on our new journey knowing we just had the most perfect wedding at Chalk Farm. Thank you so so much to everyone especially Tina & Harriet. We can’t wait to get the professional photos back and share !

We spent the night at Chalk farm in the deluxe room for our anniversary.  Beautiful room, very clean and lots of amenities. Very comfortable and quiet. Very welcoming staff and a great breakfast. A little gem!

We had a lovely stay. The room was ideal more than comfortable. Our kids really enjoyed it. So much nicer staying at a place with lots of history and our party was at the British Queen Pub which was walking distance away. Beautiful Gardens amazing views and friendly staff. The breakfast was delicious we will definitely come back for a other visit.

Really like this place,so quiet surrounded by trees and beautiful flowers.Very friendly and helpful staff.Room very clean and spacious .The breakfast is amazing..I can say the best scramble eggs. 💯🙏❤🌹

Wow when we first pulled up to this beautiful hotel. It really is so beautiful like the photos. We booked a family room. We had 3 signal beds and double bed. The room was huge. Had a lovely big ensuite with bath. Plenty of tea and coffee in the room. Big bottle of water. 

The location of this hotel is in a beautiful spot. On a lovely quite road. Has two pubs in walking distance. Behind the hotel there is a footpath which leads to the south downs. We had a lovely walk with the kids. 

The staff at this hotel are so friendly and nice. We have two daughters and the staff always made a fuss of them. The breakfast in the morning was so delicious. Will definitely be returning. Well done guys keep up the good work.

Lovely little hotel with very friendly staff all knowledgeable and offered recommendations when asked. Breakfast was very tasty and I was able to request how my eggs were cooked. 
Bedroom and ensuite was spacious, comfy and well decorated. 
Only downside was water pressure in shower wasn't very good.

Not a complaint but something to bare in mind if looking to stay.... As its an old building some of the ceilings are low in hallways so you may need to duck if your 6ft+. Also sound does travel so if there are louder guests like small children you may well hear them jumping and running about. (We experienced this on our stay and they were other end of hallway). 
Neither of these spoiled our stay and would consider staying again.

Lovely little hotel

Lovely stay. Very charming.

Whilst searching for the times of the Bank holiday family day, I stumbled across the reviews and read some of them with an element of surprise.

I have never stayed at this hotel but have attended several fund raising events and feel it needs to be remembered that this is a 17th century beamed building full of character, steeped in history and run as a registered charity. 

It is not clinical but it is clean with great toilet paper! The décor is fitting to the building's age, and the atmosphere is warm and sincere. 

The heart of this establishment is a learning facility for adults with special educational needs. There is clearly mutual affection and respect between the “teaching” staff and the students and it is enormous credit to the said staff that these young men and women are confident in their work in the safe environment that has been created. 

This hotel is nestled in the foot of the hills, is great for walking enthusiasts and is near to a pub with a fairly varied menu and Thai restaurant. 


Lovely secluded garden

Friendly hosts, Comfortable beds, lots of storage in the room. 
Good selection of tea , coffee and biscuits. 
Hairdryer but no socket near a mirror which would be really handy. 
Breakfast was delicious,  including a vegetarian breakfast.  
Shower was very low pressure and hard to adjust to a comfortable temperature but had the option of a bath so not a major problem.
The guy serving breakfast was super friendly and helpful. Overall a lovely stay 

Beautiful surrounding, nice hotel

Stayed here just for one night for work, totally not what I expected of Eastbourne, this area is more inland in the country side, so incongruous to how I thought of Eastbourne (seafront, beach). Lovely people, I wanted a bath in the room, so they put us in the family room, with 1 double and 3 single beds - there were only the two of us, but it's the only room with a bath tub.  They also recommended a nearby pub for dinner. Yes, the decor is dated, but it's comfortable. I had a good night sleep.

Stayed here for four nights whilst visiting friends in the area. Good location witi easy access to  Eastbourne even if using public transport. Hotel itself is a little tired but perfectly functionable - not unsurprising given its age. Clean enough without being excessive and good service throughout our stay
