Stayed for one night, room was basic and clean, en suite was clean and a good size. Staff were friendly and the price of the room was very good compared to other over night stays. No complaints.

Excellent, room was clean and well presented. Bar was nice and welcoming and breakfast was very nice indeed.

Stayed with my daughter - ate in the bar/restaurant downstairs which was very busy as a friday night and loud down there but no one rude or scary!!! Food and drink very reasonably priced and tasted great. Service was very slow but we were in no real rush.Common area leading up to the bedroom was dated but cleanBedroom was basic but clean, tidy and very comfortable! The room itself was very quiet, no noise from downstairs patrons. Enjoyed our stay overall and would stay again in a heartbeat if need to return to the area. Thank you!

We went there for a belated Christmas lunch. There were 27 of us from our retirement estate and everyone without exception agreed that it was perfection. A  very good menu selection and all at a very competitive price. Staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Well done to The Crown !!!!  We'll be back!

We spent a couple of days here for a family wedding nearby and the whole place was spotless and the staff lovely - very helpful and friendly. Room was spacious and comfortable, and breakfast excellent. We were above the bar which was a bit noisy but all was quiet again at closing time so wasn't a real problem. For the accommodation, food and amazing staff, we'd stay here again and recommend it.
The parking however, whilst  not the fault of the owners, did impact our stay. We chose The Crown as it had parking available, unfortunately, the parking wasn't obvious and was completely taken by the time we found it. We ended up parking in a 23 hour stay public car park meaning we were stressing over moving it in time, and finding somewhere else for the next 24+ hours. Thankfully we did find a spot in another 23 hour car park and then a spot in a  2 hour one until we left. If you have no car to worry about, it's excellent!

Great little stay

Belated Christmas lunch

A very comfortable stay. Double room was a bit tight with the en suit of similar size. However bed was comfortable. Without the availability of air conditioning they provided a decent fan and made sure the room was airy on arrival. Very clean On arrival had to book in at the bar.  Met with friendly staff who took us to a quiet area to check in. My only issue was the 10pm cut off for check in. We were traveling some distance so we’re concerned re traffic hold ups. Luckily we arrived with 15 minutes to spare but would of been stuck if something happened. Overall lovely traditional pub B&B

We had a fabulous Sunday lunch with good wine and the meal was the best we have eaten in a long time, large portions ( though you can ask for smaller one )  plenty of vegetables and meat and cooked to perfection. Compliments to the chef. Staff very friendly and polite nothing was too much bother. Will be using this again and again. The pub was very clean and decor great too, lovely ambiance.

It was perfect for what we needed, although we couldn’t park behind, there is free parking at the bottom of the town. We came to visit family in the area and see the bluebells in bloom. The room suited my daughter and me and the breakfast was great. The town has lots of charity shops which we enjoyed.

This building now under a large group of similar premises in SE -given a huge makeover(inside & ouside) and is now quite something to support .Have seen carpark full many times for staying over ;situated in centre of High Street. Very extensive menus posted on windows.-so in we went.
Food served piping hot and excellent value/content. Place was full so word has clearly got out-so give it a try.
Very obliging staff swiftly coping-seating well placed and comfortable. Will be going back again-very soon!!

QUITE A DIFFERENT PLACE NOW!!

I stayed at the Crown Hotel for 2 nights at the weekend with my son. We stayed in a superior twin room which was lovely and welcoming on arrival. It was bright, clean and fresh with a huge window and lovely high ceiling. The shower room was also lovely and clean. Check in was quick and efficient. The beds were comfortable with super soft bedding. Towels and toiletries were available in the room. 

On the first evening we decided to eat in the hotel itself. I opted for scampi and chips and my son had the lamb shank from the specials board. Service was friendly and efficient and the food arrived quickly.  I was very impressed with the food - piping hot and very tasty, and reasonably priced too.

We had breakfast included as part of our room rate and this was served in a lovely area downstairs. Again service was friendly and efficient and the food arrived quickly. We both opted for a full fry up (very impressed to find a veggie option too) and the breakfast was just as impressive as dinner - hot and very tasty.

There is limited parking available behind the hotel but it is very limited and there wasnt a space while we were there but we found parking about a 5 minute walk down the road which was free so this was not an issue. 

The hotel is located on the high street with plenty of restaurants and shops in the surrounding area. It is also a few minutes walk to the local leisure centre where you can do bowling and swimming.

Overall I would highly recomend a stay here. Lovely comfortable and clean room, tasty food and great location.

Excellent Stay

Nice cosy bedroom, good sized shower room. Friendly staff. Delicious breakfast included. Lovely decor in the pub. Limited parking. Check in due to close at 10 but kindly stayed open later as we were delayed. Beds very firm. Needs a little tlc, lamp in the room didnt work. Overall though happy with our stay, would recommend.

Went for lunch to the Crown for the first time since its change of ownership. I was pleasantly surprised. The decor was bright and cheery  and the seats comfortable.  The food was freshly cooked and all served piping hot.  The staff were very efficient and friendly but they could do with more of them.    I also know of two different groups of people who have stayed there recently who highly  recommended  it. This pub has a poor reputation locally because of its past (as the Corn Exchange). It is only by word of mouth and websites like this that it can build up a more positive reputation. I wish it great success.
