I can’t actually comment on the Ridings Guest house as I didn’t stay thereAt 4pm on the day I was due to check in I was phoned by the owner & asked if I would go to their ‘twin guest house’ insteadI was texted an alternative address & stayed in a place called White House View instead

Owner changed property last minute

The room itself was well furnished. The issues we had were no cold water (only hot), very loud road noise as there was no fan, so had to have the windows open and we had problems with breakfast. The breakfast was served 8.30am-9.30am but at their Twin Guesthouse (White House View) 12mins walk away.  Due to the inconvenience we did not go to breakfast. 

Our main issues were with the admin/hospitality. On the day of our booking we had a phone call from the owner asking us to go to their twin guesthouse instead of the one we booked (unsure why). The details took a while to come over so I had to email to get these. The other guesthouse was closer to the centre, but after emailing we found there was no parking so was not as convenient. We also booked the Ridings due to liking the look of it, whereas the other was less appealing visually. We ended up keeping to our original booking after emailing forwards and backwards during the working day, hours before our arrival. We were told to call them upon arrival, of which we did and we're told staff had reserved a space so to ask them to move their car upon arrival. When we arrived there was no staff onsite and no spaces to park. Luckily a guest left so we could park in the end. We then knocked and called the doorbell but no staff were around to let us in. We then had to call them again to be directed to a keysafe which let us in and they directed us to our room (8) via the phone. We did not see or meet any staff members during our stay. 

Overall, the room was ok but I would not recommend booking here due to the poor admin aspect and lack of hospitality. 

Terrible hospitality, well furnished room, would not recommend booking

I had a very clean, calm, tastefully decorated ensuite room for a very reasonable price. Pretty convenient for central Oxford (about 25 min walk) and though the on-site parking was full there was plenty of free on-street parking just around the corner. Bathroom very pleasant with a good hot shower. Two minor quibbles: no tea-bags, and the TV remote didn't seem to work. Otherwise a great stay.

Very good value for money

Found the shower room a bit small for a large man, but the overall experience was very good, ease of access from the A34, good parking onsite , Tesco extra 300 m away fish shop a few doors down,Local Inn come foody place  with all sports channels great location, will stay again soon.

The staff were very helpful and accommodating as I needed to arrive later than advertised - efforts were made to communicate with me which was greatly appreciated. The bedding and bathroom were clean enough, but the building was a bit seedy, and room was smelly with old carpets and an alarmingly cracked ceiling. On first telephone discussion I had in advance, I was told only continental breakfast was available and  included, but on the morning of my stay I was told my tarriff did not include breakfast at all, so information was inconsistent and could be made clearer one way or the other, plus I noticed full breakfast was available - but clearly not for me, so I had the added expense of finding and purchasing breakfast as an extra in the City Centre which I had not been expecting so disappointing.

great location only a 20 minute walk into Oxford.  Pleasant room.

Comfortable and relaxing room

The house is a satellite and the staff are based at another house nearby so you have to text them to come over.  There's parking for three in the front and house does not have a lift.  The room was tight but the bathroom was excellent.  It's half way between the town centre and the Park and Ride, so there was a lot of walking.  Good services in the area.

The owner was friendly and accommodating. Bed was comfortable.

This is a satellite guest house with awkward management who are based at another house nearby.  You have to text them to come over and open up.  Very comfortable bed, superb bathroom, quiet room. No hair dryer renovations needed for the bedroom which is small.  It's half way between the Park & Ride and central Oxford.  Good local services and restaurants.
