We were traveling by car and struggled to find the place as there are no visible signs showing Lonsdale Guest House on the roadside. We found the place from the address, but there was noone there. We eventually found a sign at the door asking guests to call or visit the guest house two houses next and finally shown to our room on the second floor. The room was modest but seemed to be equipped with all basic facilities. But the kettle was full of scale, and even after washing, the coffee did not taste good at all. Breakfast was served at the guest house where the staff were. The staff on duty the next day were different from the staff on the first day, which made things complicated as I had been made to pay the accommodation fee twice and seeking a refund (which I finally got). Other than juice, fruit and cereals you help yourselves to, the breakfast was limited to eggs and toast. Although the bus service to Oxford is quite good and there are restaurants and shops around the area, I felt the accommodation fee I paid quite expensive compared to the room and services.

Very clean, parking straight outside, close proximity to the city centre with a few essential  shops and small cafes less than a minute away. Would recommend.

Great Getaway

It served the purpose for my stay. Somewhere cheap, not too far from Blenheim Palace. Pretty standard accommodation, clean enough, perfectly fine. The mattress was super soft, but not in a good way. It felt like it was way past it's use by date. Don't get me wrong, I had a comfortable night's sleep. But it did feel like it needed replacing. The people are lovely and the breakfast was good. I'd stay here again when I'm next in the area.

It was an excellent location near the bus stop. On the other hand, my room had a slanted ceiling that made it hard to walk around upright.

Overall the room was mostly clean and basic. Price was expensive for quality of property, the room was small and had a stale smell. There were dirty marks in toilet brush holder and also towels had a damp smell. Was very rudely spoken to by one of the cleaners for not leaving before 11.00 when it clearly stated on our booking checkout was by 11.30. The lady shouted through the door and attempted to force her way into the room. Eventually she left us alone after arguing for 5 minutes.

Very basic and poor customer service.

My stay was not what I expected when booking it referred to the room being on-suite, which was not the case as was only provided with a wash basin. Although I did not have to go too far, to use the facilities, I would have preferred to have what was indicated when booking.The bed was not stable as moved whenever I did, so comfort could have been much better, but managed as it was only for a one night.Location was good as close to city centre and ideal for getting around. Breakfast was provided and staff where very accommodating.The guest house is being refurbished so hoping that the discomfort that I experienced with my room will be accounted for as this guest house has a lot of potential, just need to get those little bit right!

This Guest house is very handy for those studying at Ewert House part of Univ of Oxford Department for continuing education.  There is some on site parking or so. And some on the side road.  The bedroom was basic but all you need.  Some rooms were ensuite or with shared bathroom next door.  Single and double occupancy available

Great hotel is a great location - it's a bit out of the city centre, however there is a bus stop nearby that takes you directly in about 10 minutes away.  It's a very good value for money.  The room is nice, clean, the staff is very nice.  Only thing to keep in mind is that there are stairs so may be difficult for people with mobility issues.  If that is the case, I recommend contacting the hotel to see if they have a ground floor room.

It is cheap - you get what you pay for.  On entering the property, you are met by a soiled carpet.  Our room was at the front overlooking the street.  It was spacious.  The ensuite didn't have a mirror so shaving was a challenge.  The shower was hot but not powerful.  Breakfast is served 2 houses down the road in an overcrowded layout.  It is basic continental; quite a struggle to get plates, bowls, spoons.  Poached eggs were on offer.   Don't believe the photos on the website for rooms or food.   Staff were friendly and doing their best.
