The Scot

There is a bar on the property that was loud on the last night of my stay. There is only a small parking lot in the back. That allows for about eleven vehicles And it is gravel so hard to wheel your luggage. Also there is no elevator and narrow stairs, made it hard to get my luggage up to the room.

Lovely convenient hotel in the heart of Oban. Lovely breakfast (best black pudding we have had for ages). The room was clean and they let us check in early which was great.

Clean, newly refurbished hotel in convenient central location. Very comfortable.Easy car parking on site.Would recommend.However, stairs are quite steep and lighting could be better.

Great place to stay and excellent breakfast in the morning

Nice place to stay. Only stayed one night, but was a great spot for the night. Central location and easy parking. The staff are super nice. One thing to note, they only have stairs so if you have loads of luggage of having accessiblity issues, this is something you should note (although im pretty sure thats mentioned on their listing).

We were really pleased with our stay. The rooms were excellent and bathroom was very modern. The staff member that checked us in and served at the bar was very friendly and helpful and we enjoyed a wee drink and game of UNO in the lounge. Would highly recommend

Loved how central to shops and water front and restaurants/takeaway, my only gripe would be across from a bar that got a little rowdy , to be expected as it was the weekend,

Great location, right downtown. Very friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are very small as can be expected but the bed is very comfortable. We slept well. Breakfast was good, typical Scottish breakfast and at a good price of £14.95/person. The bathroom and shower were small but the shower had great water pressure. We enjoyed our stay.

Great location for touring Oban.  Room was lovely, nice updated bathroom with great hot water.  Nice breakfast offering.  I'm a light sleeper so being on the front street I heard the patrons from the pub across the way the 2 nights we were there (husband slept thru). The back rooms might be a better option if your like me.

Lovely room and bathroom. Helpful staff.Website should be updated to reflect there is no restaurant on site (only for breakfast). Lots of places around so not a big issue but did expect to be able to get an evening meal as that how it was advertised. I’d stay again though, super location and lovely staff.

The Scot was very clean and convenient. The rooms were on the third level making it very hard for my mother to climb four levels of steps. The rooms are very warm, we could open the windows but it was very loud so we closed them. We didn’t find the fan until the morning we were checking out. Nice and comfortable though.

My husband and I recently stayed here on our honeymoon, and we had a great time! We got there early (before check in time), but we were still allowed to park in the lot out back and explore downtown a little while we waited for check-in time. The staff at the front desk were super friendly and helpful, and made my husband a coffee, which he appreciated after a long day of travel! The location itself was super convenient - right near bars, fish and chip restaurants, and shops! Also a quick walk to the pier and harbour. We felt very secure in our room as well, as the hotel required guests to use a security code on the doors if they were coming in after a certain time at night. It felt cozy and welcoming the entire time; we'd definitely recommend!

Such a kind guy at the front desk. He went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed. I would highly recommend this place. Fantastic location (we didn’t have a car), comfy beds, very clean and amazing staff. As single women, we felt safe, secure and welcome. Thank you for making my first trip to Scotland incredible!

Note that parking is around back of the property, and is tough to see driving on the street. It’s a nice lot though. Oban is walkable, and The Scot is in a good location to walk all of it. No elevator, so might be difficult for people with disabilities to get up steps. No AC, but wasn’t really needed. There was a nice breeze with the windows open. However, the bar across the street was loud, so the windows needed to be closed, and we used the oscillating fan that was provided in the room. Would stay again.

Well located on the main street in Oban and within walking distance to all the shops, restaurants and attractions (except perhaps McCaig's Tower).  The twin room, facing the car park at the back, was quiet and clean and the beds were comfortable.  the rooms at the front do not have a better view as they only look out to the shops and houses over the road.  Nice flat screen TV and modern bathroom with the shower over the bath.  Too bad the adjoining steakhouse has been closed.  The staff were friendly and courteous and the breakfasts plentiful. No lift to the bedrooms could cause difficulty for those with walking difficulties.  Very quiet in the bar in the evenings and we only returned to the hotel when we were ready for bed.
The hotel has been sold and will be under new management within the month.

Good location

Stayed 3 nights at Rowantree. Welcoming friendly staff and carparking at rear. Carparking in Oban appears difficult, so we wanted a place within walking distance of town and left the car out the back. The hotel is well located for this. Meals in the dining room were good.  About 15mins easy walk to the ferry terminal for Mull and Iona tour.
The room we had was very clean but a bit cramped by comparison to other accommodation we had in our 5 weeks in Scotland. However, it's really only a place to sleep for the night, and the important bits (bed, shower) were good, so it's ok. Our room faced rear to the carpark so it was fairly quiet. Getting luggage up the stairs was a bit of a challenge, wide enough, but...stairs.

Good choice of pubs and eateries in Oban. A destination I would recommend.
