Midtown Hostel

Totally First Class. Firstly this is a warm and clean, welcoming and well-appointed premium hostel at a budget price, with an excellent central location in Nottingham. I had a very positive visit here. Over and above that, though, I was superbly managed and treated after a nightmare situation thanks to that incompetent shambles Booking.com. They had cancelled a booking due to a card blocking that day (due to a too much contactless swiping - but I was at a business conference) and arrived there to find i was technically not booked in. With great kindness, the owner honored my booking, was hugely helpful and swiftly checked me into a pleasant, clean, airy shared room. I got a quick and helpful tour and a soul-reviving shower, after a quick brief of the sensible house rules and a few local quirks (it' s centrally located, and a nearby pub empties its glass bins late at night - but no great noise disturbed my sleep, ). He described a few occasions when he had been unable to help those 'auto-messed up' by online booking systems.and how this disappointed him. To cap it all, my generous room-mates insisted on sharing their meal with me in the pleasant lounge facility - and it genuinely feels like a home rather than some sort of 'common room'. I don't know if there are 'better' places in Nottingham but I don't know how many will bend over backwards to make you welcome at the end of a very rough day when everything is going wrong and your card isn't working. " The kitchen and lounge are very pleasant, modern and bright, and the beds are good. There's a nice widescreen TV and a Playstation too. It's built in an old townhouse and the initial reception is up a flight of stairs but it's nothing too onerous really Thank you Mid Town Hostel Nottingham - you treated me superbly when it mattered most and I had a great stay. I have no hesitation in recommending and will be sure to return.
