The room was large, warm and the views of the River Derwent and beautiful surrounding countryside from the three large windows, were a constant delight throughout our stay. Yes, the decor could use some TLC, but we were staying in a Castle! Had to crouch a bit in the shower, but the water was very hot and made for a good one. On Sunday evening we sampled the Sunday roast menu which was delicious. For breakfast, we both love a Full English and Willersley Castle Hotel certainly did not disappoint. Buffet style sausage, bacon, poached eggs, mushrooms, hash browns, beans, toast and a pot of decent coffee. Every component was cooked perfectly and of a very good quality. We were able to wander around the grounds and the architecture of the building is just fabulous. Some reviews of Willersley slate the place due to the odd bit of peeling wallpaper and ripples in the carpet. We felt that it needs to be kept in perspective. When you measure this with the fact that you’re staying in castle, with spectacular views, good food and a warm welcome, you should quickly realise that this is very good value for money. We absolutely loved the place and would definitely return.
