The Old Vicarage

Faultless in every way. Firstly the bedroom. Although on the small side, everything was there. Lovely fragrance in the room and daily poetry to read. Chilled cold water left in a flask and fresh milk outside the door in the morning. Breakfast was special and different in every way to what one normally gets in a b&b or hotel. Everything presented freshly made and usually using locally sourced or foraged produce. The leek and goats cheeks vegetarian ‘sausages’ were especially delicious. Toast, white or brown of course made fresh daily. A lovely touch was crockery and cutlery available for use for takeaways etc. The wood burning stove in the comfy lounge area was cosy with a large screen tv and several upmarket art books and local info. An honesty bar was available with a good selection of wines. The owner, Kirsty is a delightful hostess with a font of local knowledge, suggestions and recommendations. Her skills in her full time job in IT are well demonstrated by the beautiful presentation of her emails, both in and communication and the follow up from our visit. She and partner Gareth have undertaken a massive project with the Old Vicarage and will shortly be enlarging the property. Additionally as the property sits on the edge of a large rising woodland, they are also in the process of taming it. Their energy and creativity are breathtaking. We can only praise their endeavour and commitment and wish them well. The Old Vicarage is just a few minutes from the arty village of Corris and 20 minutes from the market town of Machynlleth and nearby Aberdovey and the experience of the Mach Loop (a very noisy experience!). So, highly recommended.
