Excellent in all ways, couldn’t fault this place. Staff, food, atmosphere, room. It was a last minute recharge battery charge break.
The best place for a mini break away. We will be back soon.

Excellent stay on the 7th October 

Food was ok nothing to brag about. The owner though had a nerve to come 30 min before the next reservation for the table to tell us her guests have arrived! Well who are we then?! We have not even finished our wine. And the manner this was said was completely unnecessary. When we sat down we knew the table was booked from 19:00 and we were planning to leave at 18:50 anyway for our train and after finishing the wine. Message to the owner - review your approach!

Manners please

With five rooms above a really good pub/restaurant, The Bosun's Chair have created delightful bedrooms with en suite facilities: simply styled, spotlessly clean and well equipped.

In an historic building, you'll need to be mindful of the narrow staircase, hefty sash windows and slightly angled doorframes (and doors!) although these add to the charm of the setting (very close to railway station and town centre).    Breakfast was really good, as are the friendly and helpful staff.   

Great 'small hotel' experience 

A really lovely pub, beautifully decorated inside and out. Fabulous garden with large covered tented area. We stayed in a gorgeous top floor room which was tasteful, clean and comfortable. Good sized room and bathroom with shower in a bath. No double glazing as original sash windows so a little bit of outside noise and it was a warm night so left windows open but fan provided. 
Perfect location as 3 minute walk to the quay. 
Host was very friendly and welcoming as were his team. The breakfast was excellent, lots of choice and beautifully cooked. We were all delighted with our stay, we came on bikes and there was a nice secure car park. Definitely a 5 star bed and breakfast.

Love this place, the staff are amazing and so helpful, definitely going back and so local to the high street,train station will definitely be booking another stay. The food is delicious an amazing breakfast included. 

Great stay

We walked into the pub and immediately the barmaid wasn’t impressed with us for no reason at all. She asked for our ID’s which was totally acceptable, but as soon as my friend showed hers she wouldn’t allow it. My friend is from Jersey (ENGLISH channel island ) and the barmaid proceeded to tell her that she wasn’t allowed to be served because she wasn’t from the ‘UK’. This is totally discriminative and will very much not be returning. Why on earth would anyone want to attend a discriminative pub? Do not recommend

Discriminative Pub

I really enjoyed this hotel. I stayed with work, we got fed up with the purple hotel chain (you know who) so stayed here. I so liked the comfy bed. Room was a nice temperature for me and the bed was comfy. 
Three of us for work ate very well and all had clean plates, not a morsel left. 
Staff were SO friendly especially the tall barman who served us. 
Rooms clean, lots of tea coffee and biscuits and toiletries. 
I would definitely return

I’d return 5*

We booked a room here as we were going for dinner at The Elderflower just around the corner. 
It’s a beautiful old pub with lovely, light, airy rooms. The bed was extremely comfy and the decor was beautifully done, in keeping with the age of the property. 
The staff were friendly and breakfast was fab. 
Would highly recommend.

Great stay at a lovely pub

Excellent location to the town , warm and very friendly staff who were faultless, the whole place was spotlessly clean and the room was bright and airy and very comfortable, we had an evening meal which was delivered extremely quickly and was very well presented and tasted amazing, we will definitely be returning

Great place to stay

Great Pub, Great food and Great Beer ,  We stayed 2 nights . Our Room (1)  were spotless, spacious and had everything you need for a weekend stay.  Really comfortable King Bed.
The Pub was 'Buzzing' on Friday & Saturday night.  All the staff very friendly.  You get a great English Breakfast to start your day. A true pub, great find.
