Fantastic place to stay in Harlech very helpful friendly owners and everything was spotless. Breakfast was excellent with lots of choice catering for all needs. We would definitely stay here again if we were in the area.

Stayed 3 nights in a room overlooking the bay. Derek and Bridget are lovely hosts and were very helpful, including advice on walks. Great location to explore Snowdonia or just wander on the beach. Breakfast delicious and room very comfortable. We booked to return in the spring. 

... stop looking, you just found the place. After lock down Britain ... we spent an extended weekend in Wales, all rules (and regulations) followed and still, we had a heart warming experience. Bridget and Derek are awesome hosts, knowledgable and always make time for a chat, an answer to a question ... The cooked breakfast is not only filling but so delicious, thanks again Bridget! and all served with a smile by Front of House, Derek who also is responsible for making us wander up and down the stairs to look at his amazing drawings ... what a joy to stay here!

I got back from this lovely place yesterday we stayed Friday and Saturday night and I miss it already. What a beautiful stay we had our room was beautiful and spotless the bed was so comfortable the view was outstanding the breakfasts were amazing and most of all Bridget and Derek were the loveliest couple we have ever met very sweet and friendly from the minute we stepped through the door they were most welcoming, the chats at breakfast with Derek were lovely and he is a very talented painter he had them on the walls which were a pleasure to look at while we ate. There is not one thing I could fault in this place we are already talking about going back in a few weeks we love it that much I would 100% recommend if you go to Harlech you stay here as you will love everything about your stay and want to go back.

Bridget and Derek are two of the most wonderful people you'd ever like to meet. Full of cheer and fun, they made sure our stay was comfortable and inviting, even going out of their way by helping us with our bags from the station. The room's view was exceptional, offering a magnificent scene of the coastline and the castle, which is a few minutes walk away. Perfectly suited for local eateries and shops, the house is immaculate and the room had everything we could have needed. Breakfast was delicious with many options for many appetites (full Welsh was superb as were the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs). A DVD collection was at hand for bedtime viewing and a library of books were available to choose from. There was a cooling fan and the en-suite was cosy and just what you needed after a swim in the sea. Derek's artwork is beautiful and lines the walls, showing magnificent scenery and stunning talent. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay with two genuinely kind and lovely people. It was a true home from home and we'd love to return/move in.

We stayed for a few nights at Maelgwyn in Harlech and had a lovely stay.

From the B&B we had views of Harlech Castle and Snowdon (although this was shrouded in cloud for most of our stay).

Bridget and Derek were warm, welcoming and friendly hosts. The room was beautiful and the "full Welsh" breakfast was the perfect start to the day.

We were well placed for day trips to the beach and nearby Portmeirion.

All in all we had a lovely time and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Maelgwyn.

Starting our planning early this year to make sure we get time to visit again. All our many stays in the past have been brilliant - the warm welcome from Bridget and Derek, the standard of accommodation and the delicious breakfasts never disappoint. Plus Harlech is in a beautiful part of the world with beaches, mountains and quiet country walking (plus scenic railway). Would heartily recommend both Harlech and Mael Gwyn as a place to visit.

Having endured a long journey,  to have such a warm and friendly welcome was a delight. The room (1) was immaculate, and the bed was super comfy.(slept like a dream)..then to wake up to a view looking over Harlech Castle and the Snowdonian Mountains was to die for!!!  Also the art work displayed throughout is spectacular! This place is ACE and would recommend it 100% The hosts Bridget and Dereck are second to none. Breakfast was scrummy yummy!!  Top marks from me!!!  Couldn't of wished for a better introduction to North Wales!!! Thank you.  I will be back! xxx

Maelgwyn House B+B was the best place for my stay. The owners Bridget and Derek were so welcoming, interested in their guests and couldn't do enough for me. They really made it feel like home.
The room had a wonderful view of the sea with spectacular sunsets. It was spotlessly clean as well as being really cosy.
The breakfasts were sensational, always made with fresh local ingredients.
The owners were very chatty and interesting to talk to, as they knew a lot about the local area and the history of Northern Wales. 
Derek is also a very talented artist and in every room there are examples of his great work.

I will definitely be staying again in the future.,most likely next year.

The best b&b I’ve ever stayed in. The hosts are so friendly and make you feel at home. Beautiful views and the rooms are very clean and nicely furnished. Excellent breakfast too . Would definitely like to stay again.

Superb Stay with Lovely Hosts!

Absolutely Magical...

Wonderful place to stay

We were a last minute booking so had the last room at the top of the house, the servants quarters as was.  I know my place.  Excellent size room with very comfortable beds.  No real view but very light and airy with roof light and ordinary window.  Check out the folly outside the window.  Shower room was large, very clean with a library conveniently sited, so to speak.  Owners were very welcoming and friendly, easy to talk to.  Wi-fi was good and refreshments were plenty.  Breakfast was scheduled, a novel idea which worked.  This way the food was freshly prepared for you and nothing was cooked before hand.  Food was then served hot at the correct time for you.  Views to the front were marvellous and the conversation was interesting.  Cannot recommend this property highly enough.

We very much enjoyed our stay here. Bridget and Derek made us feel welcomed and at home. The view from our room was breathtaking. The breakfast was delicious. We really appreciated the well stocked library room. After 3 days we left very relaxed and refreshed. We could've spent a couple of weeks here. Thanks for the memories.


Very pleasant and relaxing

If I could give Derek and Bridget a 10 I would give a 15! My wife and I had never been to Wales and decided to head through Snowdonia to Harlech to visit, we never would have imagined the incredible hospitality at the Maelgwyn House! From the moment we drove up the drive, Bridget greeted us with open arms and a smile (very welcome after the “interesting” drive through the mountains). We stayed in Room 4 which has an incredible view of the sea. Breakfast (with Derek as “waiter”) was fabulous (Bridget, well done). I would highly recommend anybody going to the area to book a room at the Maelgwyn! Oh, Derek, I have located The George and Vulture and as soon as we get back to London, I will be visiting. I’ll send you some pictures via Trip Advisor (if I can?).
