A fantastic one night stay here, we wish we could have stayed longer. We were in one of the garden lodges - Covenhoe - which worked very well for us because we had our two dogs with us and there was a decked area outside along with easy access to areas to exercise them. The bed was extremely comfortable and the shower was amazing. A lot of care and attention has gone into the rooms - there was a mini fridge with fresh milk and chilled water as well as a very well-stocked hospitality tray, lovely toiletries and fluffy towels. The breakfast was delicious (as was the Sunday roast) and the staff were all very friendly.  If anyone is taking dogs (and it's wet/muddy) I would suggest taking some extra dog towels for the floor, we were there on a very wet day and we were glad we had towels with us to dry them off and cover the wooden floor with. Dogs are welcome in the large and comfortable bar area and if you want to eat with your dog there, you just need to let the restaurant know in advance so they can reserve you a suitable table. There are also dog-free zones for people who do not need to be in a dog-friendly area. All in all, a wonderful stay and we would love to go back.

A wonderful stay!

Wow, The Riverside Inn is the most quaint, cosy beautiful place to stay. My room smells delightful, it's clean and it even has a fridge with fresh milk and water in. I was welcomed with a wonderful smile and even taken to the room. 
Then I went down for my evening meal, huge compliments to the chef, my meal was one of the best meals I've had in a long time. So tasty, sauces and garnish made it perfection. I'd highly recommend the Hake. 
Thank you and I can't wait to come back.

If I could give this place six stars I would! Cannot fault it.
Location - lovely quiet wooded valley on the banks of the river, with outdoor seating right on the riverbank.
Service- second to none, from the minute we arrived until the minute we left. General Manager George really understands the meaning of customer service, trains the staff to the same high standard, and delivers 110%.
Room- spacious, comfortable, lots of nice little touches and attention to detail. Great shower.
Food- Chef Andy really understands food! Nice menus, great flavours, everything well cooked and well presented. This is not your average pub grub by any stretch .
Ambience- lovely! Whether in the bar area or restaurant area. It’s a lovely old building with a nice homely vibe, very cosy and with seating areas that allow for quiet privacy. Very nicely decorated.

What a great find!

We ate in the restaurant and it was absolutely lovely.  Cozy atmosphere and great service.  Food was superb - the best we had during our stay in England.  The chicken main dish and the vegetarian option were both very good. 

Loved the atmosphere, food and service

We spent 3 nights at The Riverside for our honeymoon in August. It was the perfect place for relaxing and unwinding with absolutely delicious food! The Sunday roast was the best we have ever had. We stayed in the Covenhope garden room which was lovely and secluded, we had everything we needed. The staff were friendly and attentive, thank you to George in particular for making it such a smooth and pleasant stay. The area is great for walking.

Honeymoon at The Riverside

We had a wonderful 3 night stay in the Yatton room in the main building. The room was very comfortable, with good quality bedding and toiletries and nice touches like homemade biscuits and fresh milk in the fridge rather than plastic UHT pots! 
The service from George and his team was so relaxed and efficient and the food was delicious with a real focus on sustainability, locally produced and minimising waste. They have a kitchen garden which produces a lot of their vegetables and some pigs and chickens too.
The area is great for walking and there are lots of beautiful villages nearby including the ‘black and white village drive’

Top quality and relaxing

As locals to the area we have visited The Riverside on numerous occasions and always delighted with the food and service, this is why we choose them to host our mums surprise 60th birthday party.  From the initial enquiry through to the event itself, the garden room we stayed in overnight to the breakfast the next morning every single aspect was perfect. 

The front of house team were fantastic, George the general manager is superb and I don't think anyone could ask more from him, he leads his team with humour and complete professionalism. 

The buffet served was delicious; varied, seasonal, appealingly set out, filling and all dietary requirements catered for (ordered in advance). Service through out was top notch, with plates cleared quickly and all the staff checking in with guests to see if anyone needed anything. Really so grateful for this. 

The Riverside is a busy village restaurant/pub well deserving of any recognition it gets - the efforts towards being green are noticed throughout, with bamboo loo roll, minimal wastage (place your breakfast order before you go to bed) and a lovely well maintained kitchen garden just a few steps away from the garden bedrooms. 

Thank you so much to everyone involved in making it a very special occasion. We look forward to visiting again soon.

We stayed here for a couple of nights for my birthday and absolutely loved it. The staff are amazing, the rooms are beautiful and the food is fantastic! Couldn’t fault anything. Nothing is too much trouble, they even changed all the bedding on request for non-feathered bedding. Our room was clean, comfortable and quiet, with fresh milk and cold water in the fridge and an assortment of quality tea/coffee, even home-made biscuits 🍪. The garden terraces are lovely if the sun is shining. We didn’t have lunch there but did have evening meals there - the chef is amazing! The best roast chicken we’ve ever had - we will definitely be back 😊

An amazing place

Stayed here for 4 nights in one of their garden rooms. Our lodge was spacious & well equipped, the bed was extremely comfortable. There was a roomy bathroom with an excellent shower. Outside there was a nice private area where we could sit & enjoy the peace & quiet of the countryside.
Breakfast was great every day, plenty of choice and cooked to order. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals  in the evenings. 
The hotel has a lovely ambience, the staff are really great & all in all we had a very relaxing & enjoyable 4 night stay

Great Stay!

The food was beyond excellent, as was the breakfast... We stayed in a lovely room with  great facilities with warm friendly service, lovely atmosphere… great beer, log fires a truly fantastic experience Im looking forward to coming back again, Thank you for such a wonderful weekend.
