My husband and I visited and walked around the grounds enjoying the peace and tranquility with our two Norfolk terriers. It was a cold day but the warm welcome we received from staff at reception and the cafe was wonderful
Dogs aren’t allowed in the cafe so we sat outside on the tables ate a lovely light lunch warm coffee and home made cakes. The lady in reception helped me choose a local walk and we borrowed a helpful walking guide which we returned after a stunning walk to Withcote chapel, managed by the Churches Conservation Trust and whilst no longer in use was open to spend a quiet time of contemplation. 

We will be back to walk some of the other walks from the abbey and no doubt return for the homemade cake!

I recently brought a pilgrimage group to stay at Launde Abbey as our base for visits to local churches. We received a very warm welcome, food was excellent with various dietary needs catered for, rooms were clean and well appointed and all the staff we met were helpful and friendly. We couldn't have asked for anything better

What a wonderful place. Took a group of 29 over 80s for a visit.  The grounds were beautiful, our time in the quiet of the Chapel was uplifting and our amazing full afternoon tea was delicious.  The staff couldn't have been more helpful.  All in all a great day out.  Thankyou

Beautiful, peaceful walks in the surrounding area, well sign posted with stunning views. The cafe is superb with freshly cooked banquette or bread with a great selection of fillings plus many other options. The cakes are irresistible so make sure you leave room! We have to also compliment Chris, he made our visit super special. It was very much appreciated as it was my husband’s birthday! Thank you, we will definitely be back. 

Launde Abbey is set in beautiful countryside that you can imagine has been the same for hundreds of years. Going down into the valley and seeing the hiuse/complex is like finding an oasis. 

The house itself is beautiful and I particularly enjoyed spending time in the Oak Room and library. 

The food is extremely good. Fresh, hot, tasty, and with great portion sizes. 

Overall, Launde Abbey is highly recommended. You'd never regret booking!

I adore this place. A Christian retreat house that provides warmth, excellent service, great food, beautiful grounds and surrounding countryside. A space to pause, breathe, recentre and find God. Staff are excellent. Rooms good. It feels incredibly safe as a lone visitor. 

A very serene, picturesque and beautiful location. We often come here for a walk and a lunch/tea at a cafe which offers a variety of absolutely delicious homemade sandwiches, soup, jacket potatoes, amazing cakes and generally provides a very warm atmosphere with a polite and welcoming service.

For me this was a five star experience.

The staff are most helpful, in particular trying to address a persistent issue with the Internet which affected only two of the rooms, but unfortunately mine was one of them.  They didn’t manage to fix it, but you can’t expect miracles. Actually at Laundé Abbey you probably can.

The food is great, in particular some very nice fish dishes.

It’s not easy to cook fish in quantity, but the chefs managed it brilliantly.

The only possible issue you might have with the food is that it is delicious, and there’s plenty of it. Be strong; go for the fresh fruit salad.

I would happily visit again for a conference or a treat. And if I was looking for a comfortable overnight stop on the way up the country, this place would definitely be a strong contender.

I visited here as a child so we decided to drop in , glad we did lovely surroundings and a cafe as well , nice visit to a Christian sanctuary but open to the public to walk around, gardens and statues and great views of the country side. The gardens and surrounding area were so peaceful, great to relax and take in the atmosphere

I visited Launde Abbey between 6th and 8th June 2021 for a retreat.
It was a lovely stay:
a) I was allocated a quiet room at the top of the abbey which overlooked the grounds.  The only sounds I could hear, by and large, was the bleating of sheep and it was nice to hear only natural sounds for the duration of my stay
b) It gave me a quiet place to reflect and be alone with God.  I was able to go out for long walks and spend time alone, either in my room or in the Chapel.  The Chapel held regular services but it was also open for private prayer.
c) The food was lovely and there was plenty of it!
d) The staff were immediately warm and welcoming and by the end of my stay, I really felt like I'd got to know some of them!

There are two locations for staying over at Launde. One in the main house and one in the stable block. 
The latter is more conference style with slightly smaller rooms but all en suite and very warm and comfortable. The main house has more quirky and different sized rooms as befits a very old house but again all en-suite , warm and very comfortable. Generous amounts of hot drinks available. 

Comfy accommodation 

Launde is a secret place in its own valley. A supportive community who make you instantly welcome. The rooms are unfussy and very comfortable with views over the gardens or you might wake to the quite munching of sheep in the park. An honesty bar and wholesome, delicious, if unadventurous, food. It is the perfect place to think, write or relax.

Serene

The best bit about Launde is the peaceful quietness. We stayed overnight in a room at the front of the property - a huge room and a decent en-suite, with a surprisingly moderate-sized window! The place has oodles of character, so decor and things can be a bit wonky. But to be able to sit in the oak room quietly reading, thinking and praying without interruption is a joy. We attended a service in the chapel - just us two and the warden.

This is unique. You don’t have to be a Christian, but of course it is full of Christian stuff - including an excellent small library. Anyone who wants space and peace would appreciate this wonderful opportunity. We found the good and tasty food easily met our needs and all the staff are lovely too.
