Everything was excellent. Wished we had time to stay longer.

Great hotel. Lovely, spacious room with very comfortable bed. Great nights sleep. Good sized bathroom. Spotlessly clean and well equipped. Nice bar with good beers and range of spirits. a with very friendly, welcoming staff. Highly recommend.

What a lovely hour or two we all had this weekend in the beautiful bar, chatting away with the lovely, friendly, interesting owners. Not only are they really welcoming, charming, funny and pull a lovely pint, but they were so into music and played us loads of brilliant tracks, gave me some new tunes to listen to. Brilliant start to our evening. By the way, the owner knows John Robb 😂🤭😉😁 Thank you, folks! Best, the Guardian Readers 😃

Where do we start? After a bad experience with a booking the previous evening, we were lucky there was a cancellation at The Silk House. From the moment we pulled up outside the hotel Nicholas was warm and welcoming. 
Check in was seamless and we had drinks in our hotel room which was clean and comfortable.
Before we went for dinner we had drinks in the bar, the owners recommended places to eat and drink and even offered to cook some food if we were unable to find a table as we didn’t have a reservation anywhere.
The morning after we were offered complimentary fresh coffee and a friendly chat. 
We wouldn’t hesitate to return and only wish we had spent the whole weekend there.

Beautiful period hotel that smells clean and fresh throughout. Lovely room with a comfortable bad and great pillows. Huge bathroom with double sinks, freestanding bath and a gorgeous original stained glass window. Attention to detail is amazing throughout the hotel.  Public bar is small but homely and the team and patrons made us feel so welcome, coming to sit and chat with us. Service was faultless and even warmed my brandy glass perfectly. Continental breakfast was freshly baked croissants, pain au chocolat, and baguettes with a good selection of jams etc. Freshly made coffee , fresh juices and large pot of tea. Cannot recommend enough

Lovely hotel  , great  location, excellent hospitality, would definitely recommend.

A clean, comfortable, and convenient hotel right in the town centre.  Very quiet and plenty of free on-street parking just around the corner.  Modernised facilities in an historic building.

Very friendly and helpful host. Beautiful, period property.

We had just the one night at the Silk House - and what a great night it was.  Nick the owner was the most convivial of hosts and we had a great night in the bar singing, dancing and generally making merry.   The room itself was quirky and comfortable although a little too warm.  (Couldn't really open the window as it was on a main road).  But otherwise a great stay!  Thank you Nick!

Fabulous boutique hotel in a characterful Georgian listed building. Room resplendent in shabby chic style with all amenities. Great bar and garden. Served excellent continental breakfast ( not included). I was on a cycling weekend and the owner Nicholas couldn’t have been more helpful to store my bike in secure room accessible through a side entrance. Leek is a lovely town ideally positioned for access to the Peak District. Highly recommended !

Characterful boutique hotel

Beautiful character property and garden area stunning. The host is a real true gentleman hes very kind and very friendly and approachable . Nothing is too much for him at all.we have stayed before and we will definitely be back again soon. We feel so at ease and relaxed and peaceful n safe . Very very convenient for everything you could want in a beautiful town like Leek . Perfect really honestly its beautiful n its very very reasonably priced. Nick was extremely helpful and made sure that everything was just right for us to enjoy our weekend stop-over in Leek. The Silk House is very well situated for all that Leek has to offer in terms of shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants. A perfect weekend and we will definitely stay again when we’re next in the area.

Nicholas was superb host , fantastic house hotel in centre of Leek , bedroom was shabby chic , very nice .....all very clean ...power shower effective , a good night sleep , then an amazing continetal breakfast , lots of choice , we ate in the bar .....Nicholas very intersting to talk with , whats not to like ....I did not like staying ...I loved it , go and try and enjoy .....but not when I want to return 

one night not enough

What a stunning Georgian property based in Leek.  We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful house, with a very charming, friendly and welcoming host.  Nick was really lovely, nothing was too much trouble.    Our room was very comfortable, with a lovely big bathroom.  The wine was of a good standard. The continental breakfast was great, served with a lovely cappucino!  Parking was not a problem.  
I cannot recommend this highly enough.  Thank you Nick (Nicholas) for a really great experience.  Hopefully to repeat in the near future.   I have an Edward the Confessor mug which reminds me of you!

Memorable stay!

Have not stayed in Leek before and based on positive reviews,decided upon the Silk House. It did not disappoint. We received a friendly welcome from the owner who recommended restaurants and pubs to visit during our stay. The bar is small but comfortable. Accommodation was of a high standard although the road outside is quite busy. Parking can be a problem but the owner helped us in a positive way. Excellent continental breakfast.
