Good value for money, cheerful staff and a welcoming atmosphere. It was great that the room was serviced without being asked, a quality sadly lacking in a lot of places now. Brilliant value breakfast with lots of choice.

Booked 3 rooms bed and breakfast for a family event.  The rooms were spotless and comfortable.  The service from the bar staff and the breakfast ladies was great.  Had some very nice wine at night and a lovely breakfast in the morning. I would recommend to anyone staying in the area not looking for city centre hotels.

The location is perfect for shopping and visiting the Beamish museum. It's a very popular place for eating and drinking. The staff are lovely, very friendly.

One of the best Green King stays in the country.Great service, food and accommodation.

Short drive to Beamish Museum. Family room was large and comfortable with lots of lovely extra touches like coffee bags and biscuits. Meal was excellent and staff were really friendly and gave great service.

Nice pub food. Great stop over place. Huge room.

Great location quiet yet close to all amenities.

Not a single fault, beautiful food, clean and spacious room, friendly staff. An all round lovely trip. We'd travel up again just to stay here.

Family trip for 80th Birthday

Lovely stay for one night. Easy check-in with welcoming staff. Room was very warm given the cold outdoors - but (in one of the rooms separate from main building) is an electric heater so did click a bit over the night, and the bathroom only had a fan heater (so turned on before I had a shower!!)Fair evening meal, good breakfast- not the quickest to prepare but that shows it's fresh so cant be critical!

Welcoming country pub

Large comfortable room. Good bed. View onto meadow / field. Easy parking. Lovely touches such as lots of different high quality teabags, coffee and hot chocolate plus nice biscuits. Didn’t eat there but pub and restaurant attached with relaxed atmosphere. Staff kindly let me have a pint after pub tills were shut when I came in late. Good value and easy enough to get into Durham for a concert - all hotel options in Durham centre were over £200 for the same night. Would definitely go back.

Lovely Inn with friendly and welcoming staff. Room was spacious and bathroom clean. Over the bath rainfall shower. Food in the pub was good. Standard pub fayre with specials.  Angel of the North visible from the window and five minutes drive away. We wanted to be near the Beamish Living Museum and this was perfect. A 10 minute drive away. The only slight disappointment for us was that breakfast ended at 9.00 so we had to be up early and would have liked a bit of a lie in, but that's just our preference. We would certainly stay here again. Thanks to all the staff for making our stay so enjoyable.

Great Stay

The staff were lovely, kat is a great manager, Christine is a star and Heather and her team of cleaners do a great job. The food from breakfast to evening meal was lovely, perfect poached eggs every day, you carnt say that about most places. We stayed in one of the rooms outside with its own parking space, it was great, had everything you needed, it was lovely and warm as was the main building. We had a great stay couldn't fault it, we will be going back without hesitation.

Great Place

We stayed at the Ravensworth for 3 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We had the dog with us and never once was this an issue. The room we had (18) was ideal for us, lovely comfy beds and nice bathroom. Only thing I’d say is the top of the shower head  was very dusty just a small thing though. 
Tea and coffee in the room was replenished every day which was great and you could ask for fresh milk from the bar too. 
Breakfast was really lovely! Great choice on the main menu and the help-yourself continental. 
All staff friendly and helpful. No complaints at all. 
Will definitely be back when we visit family in the north east again.

Great B&B

Stayed for a couple of nights while visiting Beamish. Rooms clean and comfortable but would benefit from addition of usb sockets. I believe they may be in the process of adding them since they've been added to the bar and restaurant. 
Originally allocated a room in the main building but WiFi was down and they gladly found us a chalet outside which was much brighter and didn't have the noise from bar downstairs,  very pleased with the move.
Staff were all extremely friendly and helpful. 
Breakfast was superb and very filling. I feel the option of perhaps just egg on toast or bacon roll may appeal to some with smaller appetite. 
Overall I'd recommend for a short stay.

Amazing especially for the price we paid! Only about 15 mins in a taxi into the centre of Newcastle and had everything you could need. In a lovely location and even though are room faced the road, it was still really quiet. Staff were lovely and everything was very clean, would definitely stay here again if I was to visit Newcastle!

It was a last-minute booking, but what a Gem, all the staff were brilliant, the food was fantastic value. I've stayed in some (suppose) high-class hotels that wouldn't match the meal offered up on the night (special mention to the chef).It was also nice to see that the room was in keeping with the building itself and not boxed off like most hotels, it retained that certain quirkiness, was clean, tidy and very spacious. Would I stay again, most certainly and have already started recommending it.Brilliant venue made even better by fantastic staff portraying that family lead feel.

What a GEM

Visited on Monday for my sister’s wedding. 

Staff were excellent, they were very patient with my mam and sister (mother of and bride) who are very fussy needy people. They were very accommodating with all their requests.

They also were very patient with my two year old niece keeping her entertained and distracted whilst she waited to walk down the aisle and I know my wife and my sister was very thankful for this. Staff names were Dawn and Kat (unsure on spelling and the barmaid with the blonde hair (sorry I forgot your name). The rest of the staff were also brilliant.

The venue was lovely, well decorated and my sister feels it was value for money. If I had to pick something to grumble at the bar was a little expensive, a Gin and Tonic for my wife cost over a tenner. There was also a sheet on the registry signing table which could have been ironed as it was creased. These two things were minor issues and only mentioned as I like to balance reviews.
