Booked this accommodation on a whim as we were just passing through. Pleased to say this lovely lodge was one of the highlights of our trip! Margaret was a true Scottish gem! 
Going above and beyond for our short stay. Offering to drive us to the pub, putting breakfast out for us to make sure we weren’t hungry and even made our bed for us when we got back! She truly makes this guest house feel like home. Margaret and your lovely black cat cammy, thank you for your hospitality. Tanika and Chris xx

Just like home, but better

The lady here is either buying reviews or her previous guests are used to sleeping under railway bridges, this place is a dump, it's damp and smells of smoke, it's close to a motorway and the owner is just out right rude. We didn't try the food in fear the kitchen would be as clean as the rooms. I just can't belive other reviews, don't waste your money.

Worse than a truck stop

From arriving to leaving margaret went out her way to make our stay enjoyable even up graded us on last night as it was our 1st anniversary best b@b we ever stayed in rooms were sootless breakfast amazing defo be back

This place is a joke. I booked my room they confirmed my room 
I flew from Florida to Heathrow London and then on up to this place 
Flight got delayed as usual for England. Called the place no answer on either land line of mobile number so called again and left a message that I was running late  they did not even have the  decency to call me back and confirm the message  
So eventually got there around 11:30 pm and the big black gate was closed so again I called both number and got nothing I JAD TO SLEEP IN THE RENTAL CAR THAT NIGHT so next morning I start getting emails saying my credit card was bad. Then another saying I was a no show. Then another saying they heard nothing from me then another saying they got my message. And they had someone stay late to let me check in all lies covering up your failure. Then a string of emails trying to cover up your previous lies to make me look like I was a no show with bad credit. My opinion find somewhere else to stay. There is much better for the money you would spend in the area. And on top of all this they stopped me writing this review on booking.com. So good ole trip advisor here we are. Most of their reviews are probably made up by family and friends as in my eyes they failed every hospitality check there is. Never again and would gladly pass my opinion on to anyone who remotely considers this place to look elsewhere. Cheers have a great day and find better.

Hospitality failure

Greeted with a warm and helpful welcome.
Room and en suite were spotless.  Toiletries provided.
Lovely warm room and Oh! what a beautifully comfortable bed.  Didn't want to get up in the mornings.  Room supplied with tea/coffee facilities and TV.
Continental breakfast was a generous proper fresh fruit salad, fruit juice, cereals, croissants, toast, yogurt, coffee/tea.  It was plenty to set us up for the day.  Full cooked breakfast available on request.
Good private car parking.
Pleasant grounds to sit in and enjoy, weather permitting.
Very quiet location 3/4 mile from Kilwinning centre.  Good and easy access.
Very relaxed atmosphere and Margaret was so kind and helpful, including offering lifts into town.
Definitely recommend staying here and we certainly will again.

The comfiest bed I've ever slept in

We recently spent five nights here, with a two day trip to Arran in the middle. Pleasant room and en suite, helpfully on the ground floor, with a very comfortable bed. Margaret provided the vegan breakfast we requested, plus some extra treats, and was generally very helpful with good advice as to where we could eat. Parking good, and although very quiet, easy access onto the nearby main  road.

We booked into Nethermaines (my third visit) for on night as we were supposed to be going for the Arran ferry next morning.  First thing that happened was th ferry was cancelled & CalMac impossible to contact, Margaret, the owner said no problem, stay another night.
However that evening I fell and broke my shoulder.
The kindness of Margaret was amazing, we could stay as long as we wanted, she got her son to take us to Crosshouse Hospital & volunteered him to wait & bring us back!  However due to covid rules only I was allowed in the hospital so he brought my husband back & I got a taxi hours later.
We ended up staying three nights until I felt able to come home and Margaret could not do enough for us, including giving us evening meals (not something she usually does) & putting out chairs for us in her sunny garden.
I can’t recommend Nethermsines highly enough.

Fantastic host, After arriving  a little later than planned, Margaret met me as I arrived and welcomed me into her fantastic period farmhouse and offered soup and a sandwich, (plus apple pie) and refreshments, without hesitation. Saving a hunt round the local restaurants. Had a nice chat with her and her husband, before retiring for the evening. Room was very clean and spacious with en-suite bathroom and a great shower. Slept like a log! Breakfast was arranged for 09:00 and a full Scottish was served on the dot. with toast and real coffee. As I work in Asia and have travelled extensively on recent years, I cannot fault the welcome and accommodations provided for a very reasonable price. Very highly recommended!

Kilwinning’s Hidden Gem!

Really enjoyed a 5-night break. Totally relaxed for the first time in ages. Margaret, the host, kept a friendly and hospitable  business. Very accommodating, with nothing we needed too much trouble. She worked hard at making you feel special. Clean and quiet rooms.  Just a mile from the centre of town. Easily walkable. Thanks, Margaret!

Wonderful house and host

Excellent from start to finish!  Margaret excelled in hosting skills. Everything you need in the room right down to wine glasses. The bed and pillows where the comfiest  ever! Slept like a baby. Beautiful garden to sit out in. Will most definitely be back. Highly recommend!!
