I couldn't fault it and I would recommend staying at the hotel and we will be coming back. As we want to walk Great Gables, the peaks around Buttermere and Catbells. As the weather stop us this time. The food served in the restaurant for dinner and breakfast is excellent. We couldn't fault it. The bar makes excellent cocktails and a wide selection. The Hotel is easily walking distance to the loop path around Derwentwater. However, it can be wet so walking boots/waterproof shoes are recommended. In additional to some good walking routes, mentioned on their website. The bus stop for the Borrowdale bus (87) is just north up the road outside of The Borrowdale Hotel. Its quick and easy way to get to Keswick. The ferry on Derwentwater is also a nice choice, the loop/hop on and hop off ticket can get you into Keswick and back. The third stop (3 - Lodore) is nearby and the path to it is opposite the Lodore Falls Hotel & Spa.
