Very clean great service and very good food.

We were staying in Cockermouth, every where seemed to be booked.  We were walking and found this hotel.  Looked old fashioned and menu was not exciting but then saw the cocktail menu (extensive) and then tasted the cocktail, wow they know how to mix them.  Then the food arrived and again wow good basic food, excellent cooked veg and good size portions.  Superb bread warm and the cheese and biscuits were superb.  If you are in the area, do not go to these standard linked corporate places - visit The Manor House Hotel where you will receive a warm welcome and good standard fare.  Place is clean and toilets are immaculate, something which is not standard now a days in the majority of establishments.

Great location car parking a bonus and breakfast was plentiful.
Room was spacious although the beds were a bit small .
Would stay here again if in the area .Staff were friendly too.
Around 300m to the centre of the town.

Staff very friendly. Helpful advise and allowed me a very late check in.

Reception was quick and easy and informative. It appear breakfast was £15 not £22 as stated on your website. Also it is more cost effective to book direct with the hotel. We had a small double room in the attic which proved difficult for my tall husband due to restrcted ceiling height. Also there were no openable windows just a velux window which made the room a little claustrophobic.No lifts, no ground floor rooms and no ramp or rail to entrance thus difficult if you have mobiliity issues. Bar shuts at 10pm unless there are resident in situ.Tea and coffee and usual complimentary facilites. Staff very plrasant .

Four of us stayed at the Manor House on a 3 day / 2 night golf break and stayed in the two twin rooms. Hotel is in a prime position just at the end of the main street and there is ample on site parking. 
Hotel was ideal, nice big room cleaned daily, great breakfast (choice of cereals, yogurts, fruit, juices etc) plus a beautifully cooked hot meal. Nice bar area. Evening meals looked good but we didn’t eat there as we had other plans. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. 
We are already looking to book for next year

We have stayed here once before and were pleased to return.

The hotel is well located at the end of Cockermouth, making it easy to walk to anywhere in town and there is adequate free car parking and wifi.

Whilst the building is dated, it is well maintained and decorated and our room was clean and comfortable.

The cooked breakfast is excellent and the restaurant is underrated - see separate review.

Don’t judge this book by its cover!

Really good experience here. The room was small but we knew that when we booked it. 
The breakfast was possibly one of the best we have had, the quality of the ingredients shone through. Evening meal was so well made and reasonably priced. The staff and owners were all very friendly and helpful. Definitely come back.

Excellent value no-nonsense hotel.

Lovely hotel great location

Really friendly staff throughout our stay and nothing was too much trouble.The hotel is warm, cosy and comfortable with great parking facilities and is convenient for the shops in the town centre.Breakfast was of a very high standard, plenty to eat and delicious.We also booked an evening meal which was the highlight of our stay - we thoroughly recommend the dining experience.Many thanks to Cain, who looked after us in the bar and all the staff who were all very hard working, but extremely pleasant throughout.Wishing all at the Manor House a very Merry Christmas and we look forward to staying with you again in 2024.

An absolute delight! We live on the Fylde and are surrounded by highly rated restaurants and hotels. However, most of us would give our eye teeth to have this hotel  on our patch
The building is impressive, the bar areas welcoming. The restaurant area is clean and functional if unspectcualr. The rooms neat, tidy and clean.
But there are two great assets:

1: The food: unbelievingly cheap but of staggering quality. Everything beautifully cooked, good portions and well presented, The selction was great and the desserts worthy of a Michelein star offering

2: the staff : hard working, friendly and efficient 

Only surprise was our ability to get in teh restaurant : I doubt very much whether there are amany places in cockermouth which offer the quality and value for money of Manor House  

Memorable!

Friendly and helpful staff.  Nice welcoming hotel.  Only had drinks and food in the lounge but both were great.  We were in room 14 on the 2nd floor.  Knew it was a small room and just a skylight instead of window, which was ok.  The decorating could do with a touch up as some of the paper was peeling.  Was very warm but they had a large oscillating fan which helped.  For 2 nights it was all acceptable.  Location and parking were our main reason for booking and these were perfect.

Grrat hotel for a short break in cockermouth

Although all the amenities were there the room was very small, sidling between bed and dressing table chair. Probably better without the chair as you could just sit on the bed to use mirror. Bathrooms are dated. Good quality breakfast but asking to choose what you want on arrival and then getting the same each morning doesn't really allow for variety. Felt a bit like an old fashioned B&B in that respect. Despite that we had a good stay and staff were lovely.

Lovely old house with history

A great little hotel who go out of there way to provide you with everything for a pleasnat visit. Great food, clean and comfortable rooms, friendly and happy staff, good value.
 All of my party much enjoyed their visit - what more can be said !!
Only suggestion - need to work on the colour co-ordination in room 2. (or perhaps it was 1} cannot quite reember !
