Overnight stay on my way down south for a funeral and couldn't have asked for a better place.

Room was lovely and very comfortable although the bathroom was quite basic and perhaps in need of a facelift. Although I didn't eat or drink in the bar/restaurant, both looked like a great place to sit and while away the day or night.

Staff and service were excellent. As I was travelling early in the morning and would miss breakfast, I was given a room only rate which was really appreciated. I was also allowed to leave my car for 24 hours whilst I travelled which was also appreciated...!

Overall, I would happily recommend this place and would stay again if in the area.

Lovely overnight stay...

Meeting up with American relatives and we had traveled from Preston only to be told sorry there isn’t a booking !!! However, what a fantastic place Beth immediately started finding a table for five ( even though the place was jammed! .. what a gorgeous girl professional and nothing was too much trouble . Food superb all home cooked .. quick service , friendly staff and showed the Americans the hospitality of the Cumbrians .. We will be back but a huge pat on the back to all the staff and of course the chef

Meeting the Americans in Kendal ..

One of the best inns we 've ever stayed. The rooms were large , clean and warm. Great shower and big bath tub. Dog friendly if you have yours with you, family friendly and couple friendly. Plenty of parking, but obviously close to the station.
The staff were exceptional especially Sam - made us so welcome. When it comes to the food, a broad menu but not overwhelming, a reasonable price structure which had meal times busy but managed so well.. Great food at great prices just done very well !! Grest chef/ kitchen team.Thanks Station Inn, we 'll be back !!

Wcoming, warm, friendly and cosy. A mixture of locals and overnighters. A special.place indeed.

Came as table of 6 on a Saturday lunchtime. The place had a buzz about it, and the food menu was quite varied - hanging kebabs were good, and kids mains also decent choices. Would have been 5/5 but the kids ice cream sundaes could have been better, but hey they were included with the main.

Really nice pub meal, good variety

Lovely find. Needed a place to stay a night after a train up from the south on my way to a meeting. Will be back for a proper stay. Lovely refurbished rooms 7 min from station. Very dog friendly. Great walking country. Friendly welcome even after England’s defeat to Scotland the day before :-)

Great find!

Hugely disappointed as in the past we always patronised the Station Inn when staying at a local guest house. It wasn't busy but the Manager  
was reluctant to make eye contact and more interested in talking to friends at the bar. I dont think its appropriate, natter how hot it is,  for staff serving food and drink to be dressed in grubby shorts and t shirts. Food was awful. We won't be back.

Avoid

Our room itself was lovely and comfortable, very good value for money. 
Landlord was nice enough, landlady however seemed deliberately intent on not speaking to us, despite our attempts at pleasantries!  We found this really very funny. The sour looks she gave us on top were particularly entertaining. We read through a few other reviews and this seems to be the norm for this pub. Ah well. 

A bit mixed

A wonderfully warm place just a short walk from the train station. The new manager, Linda, and her team make you feel welcome from the moment you step through the door. The staff are friendly and keen to help. 

I've enjoyed every meal I've had there. There are plenty of fresh and tasty dishes on the menu to choose from. It's also very reasonably priced. Several times I heard customers give compliments to the chef.  Remember to book to avoid disappointment. It can get busy, especially towards the end of the week. 

There are many places to sit in the traditional bar area, tucked away dining room, and the beer garden and by the playpark. 

The pub has a cheery and welcoming atmosphere with a community feel, especially during events like the quiz night on Thursdays. 

The local area is beautiful. Busses and trains from the nearby station take you deeper into The Lake District should you wish to explore. 

I'd recommend this place to anyone wanting delicious and affordable food in this area or spacious and light rooms on the edge of The Lake District. 



Wonderful new manager and chef provide great service and delicious food

This is a great place for a warm summer eve with views over the hills in both directions. Staff very friendly, we had a mix of starters as small plates, all delicious! Afterwards you can walk along the Helm for a spectacular sunset and more great views.

Beautiful place for a drink on a warm summer evening

We went for lunch, a wide range offered on the menu and a separate vegan and vegetarian menu too. 

The food and service were lovely and the staff were really friendly and helpful. We had the seabass dish which was different and gorgeous and a generous portion. 

Would recommend a visit here if you’re in the area.
