The room and bed were excellent.  We ate dinner in the restaurant downstairs and it was delicious.  Would recommend!

A lovely small rustic hotel, filled with character. The restaurant was wonderful, service staff so friendly. For a Portree experience, this is a wonderful place.

A great nights sleep in in a comfortable room overlooking the square in Portree. Staff very friendly and helped with my heavy bag. Overall a great place to stay.

Only complaint was no lift/elevator so we had to carry our bags up 4 flights of stairs, but overall cute hotel, breakfast was very good, close to restaurantz

Hotel was clean and comfortable. Restaurant and bar in the hotel were small, but nice. Food was good. There is a pay parking lot right across the street if you have a car.There is no lift at this hotel.

The hotel has plenty of charachter, but not dated.  Our room was very comfortable and the staff were friendly and helpful.

Right in the heart of Portree, this was a fabulous place to stay. The Antlers bar and restaurant was very convenient to have dinner after a long day exploring Skye without going to far and the included breakfast was a similar lifesaver. The staff are so kind and the check in/out process was super fast and simpleMy only warning would be that there is no lift, which they mention on their website, but figured I’d reiterate. I was fine as I travel light but again, it’s nice for other travelers to know!

I booked the twin room because I planned to be out and about all day, but ended up getting sick. It's a cozy room with everything you need, but gets a little snug when you spend two whole days stuck in there 😂  Definitely the smallest room of my trip!  It's right in the middle of town, next to the bus stop, so it was incredibly convenient. The restaurant is delicious, too, which is good because it's a small town and there aren't many other options. I ate all my meals there and had no complaints. Plus, breakfast was a cold buffet & hot menu, which was a nice change of pace from the other places I stayed around Scotland, which all had identical buffets. The bathroom was actually surprisingly big, considering the room size, but I had trouble with the shower. It would cycle between too-hot and too-cold every ten seconds or so, with very brief intervals at a reasonable temperature. Also, it's an old building and doesn't have an elevator, so keep that in mind if you have a problem with stairs!

This is an older hotel that offers basic rooms, our one was on a smaller side, but everything was clean and comfortable. We did not have the opportunity to try their restaurant as it was fully booked the night we stayed but we really enjoyed the breakfast. The hotel is in a really good location within walking distance from the main shopping area, with several restaurants nearby. Please note there is no elevator in this hotel but they offered to help us carry our luggage upstairs to our room.

Traveling for my work so hotel was handy and reasonably priced. I had to leave early for work but there were no slots available for breakfast 8:15 was the earliest though service started a 7am. It was not busy in the restaurant when I left. Could easily have served one more person. They offered a packed lunch but not the same as a hearty breakfast on a freezing day.

Hotel is right on the square in a good location. It is old and quaint, and shows a little wear. We had two excellent rooms that faced the square. Comfy beds. Restaurant is very good. It is not much on atmosphere at all. Tables close together, but not in a fun way like a pub. Based upon the atmosphere we were leary of what the food would be. We were expecting plain, But food was very good. Pork chop was excellent. We ate there two nights.

Good hotel, very good restaurant

We stayed at the Portree Hotel for 4 nights in September 2023. We loved the people that worked there! Our room was so cozy. The food was so good! I had a honey pork chop that was one of my best meals during the trip. The only thing to know is that a lot of the hotels on Portree don’t have elevators because they are old buildings. A nice young man named Calum helped us carry our bags up. Every time I wrote Portree Hotel with a question they answered immediately and were so kind and helpful. We had great full breakfasts there. The most convenient location in town. Parking lot right on the square. They always helped us find ways to save on parking with cabs etc. They provided hairdryers and everything we needed. They didn’t need to be that kind. They just were! I saw them take a bit of verbal abuse from travelers who complained there were no places to eat in town because they hadn’t reserved anything ahead and the hotel clerks took it with a smile. I can’t rate then highly enough I would go back there again in a minute! Such a great place for a home base.

Better than home away from home!

Just had a weekend at the Portree Hotel and couldn't fault it. Room was comfy, warm and spotlessly clean. We ate at the hotel on both nights and the food was amazing.
The staff are all lovely and the young staff in the restaurant and bar in particular are an absolute credit to the hotel. We shall return!

Great Hotel, Staff & Food

Centrally located historic hotel with friendly staff, good food and weekly live entertainment. Good location for walking around the town but no parking is available on site. We stayed on the 2nd floor in a lovely room just above the restaurant with a comfortable king size bed that overlooked the square. 

Comfy spot in Portree

My wife and I stayed here for 1 night in early October and have to say it was absolutely perfect and a most enjoyable stay. The lady on reception was so welcoming and made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. We were in room 22 which is on the top floor and overlooks the square. Seemed to me to be one of the best rooms in the Hotel as nobody above us and a lovely modern room with everything you would require for your stay. We booked a meal in the restaurant at night and recommended you actually book your meal when you book the room as it was fully booked although I believe priority given to residents. I ordered a drink at the bar and was asked if I was sitting inside or outside which was confusing to me at the time as it clearly wasn't summer! Unknown to me is that there are lovely wee heated greenhouses which looked to have been built in covid times and you can take your drink out there and cosy in whilst charging your phone and listening to some tunes! Superb! The food we had was excellent and no complaints at all. Service was also excellent with the staff so friendly. We booked breakfast at check-in too and it was as good as dinner the night before with regards to quality of food and service. A really enjoyable stay and would really recommend staying here when visiting Skye. Top notch!

Great Hotel with lovely staff and food

Two night stay in a lovely hotel on the town square. Rooms facing the square are great for people watchers. Some bus noise from 6:30am, but not excessive. Rooms were well equipped and beds very comfortable. Bathrooms appeared to be recently refurbished. 
Great food in the hotel’s Antler Bar and Grill - booking essential. Full Scottish breakfast was delightful and nicely cooked. 
All staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. 

Car parking on the Square not as expensive as expected. £1 per hour for a maximum 2 hours. No return for 2 hours and free parking from 6pm to 8am. If you put a ticket on at 4pm and add another between 7pm and 8am, you can stay till 10am - 18 hours for £4. Free car park 2 minutes walk away.
