Wow, this is a really nice hostel. 
I went with my 11 year old daughter and we both thought it was a gorgeous, quite hostel. It is in the most stunning postcard worthy spot and only about a 20 min drive from Brodick. The staff are very helpful and friendly. 

This hostel is excellent, my partner and I stayed here at the end of June both in a private room and dorm rooms due to availability. We really enjoyed our stay, the hostel staff are super friendly and we felt they went above and beyond. The hostel itself is really well equipped, we cooked some of our meals and found the kitchen had everything we needed. The lounges are relaxing and there is a laundry area too - we used the washing machine and drying room and found it really practical. We also ordered the 'wee breakfast' for 2 of the mornings which were very good value for money. 

This is without doubt the best Guest House we have stayed in. The rooms are well appointed and tastefully furnished. The evening menus were imaginative and delicious. The breakfasts varied, tempting and in the case of “Overnight Oats” a special treat. Our hosts were welcoming, thoughtful and good humored. Of course the scenery is rugged and breathtaking but that was just the icing! Must go back.

Fantastic location, excellent value for money. Very clean, with friendly, energetic and helpful staff. All in all a terrific experience on a budget for people with a passion for the outdoors in a wonderful part of the world.

We backpacked on Arran and stayed 4 nights in a double ensuite room overlooking the loch. The location is fabulous. The hostel is well equipped, clean, relaxed and the staff are very welcoming. It is an excellent base to explore the island with good access to local bus services and a variety of walks.

A lovely, clean, cosy hostel with friendly staff. Good value for money, and amaaaaaazing location. The views from the lounge/yard are stunning. A good base for a few hikes too. Red deer and oystercatchers on your doorstep, what more could you want! 

The service is good and the facilities are clean.

Stayed for three nights while hiking in Arran. The staff here are lovely; helpful, friendly and chatty. The facilities are excellent with plenty of kitchen space, clean quiet rooms and good information points to help you make the most of your visit to this beautiful island.

My stay at Lochranza Youth Hostel was absolutely fantastic. I thoroughly enjoyed both the building itself, the room, the facilities and the staff, who were amazing at explaining things to us. I was extremely satisfied by my stay. The private rooms were extremely pleasant- tidy and spotless! They also provided excellent views of the local setting! The hostel provided delicious breakfasts for us, which helped in fuelling us up before many days spent hiking and exploring the wonders that Arran had to offer. I can't recommend this place enough!

We stayed here for 4 nights with a large group of family and friends. The hostel is a Beautiful old building with character but in good repair. We had a private family room with en-suite. Very impressed with hostel, facilities, cleanliness, location, staff (Simon, great guy) all brilliant. 4 beautiful friendly stags made a regular appearance, 3 herons spotted, loads of curlews, cormorants as well a regular appearance of seals further south. Loads of walks and stunning scenery. 3G signal was patchy, as was DAB radio, though this didn’t bother us. Brodick is the largest town on the island with 2 co-ops and plenty of small independents, a good half hour drive away on a slow twisty road. Bedding (duvet, pillow etc) is provided, everything else is up to you. We would happily recommend this hostel, the family room downstairs sleeps 6, 1 bunk bed with single top/bottom, 1 bunk bed with double bottom and single top, and a single bed as well as an en-suite.

Great place

Stayed here for one night with husband and 2 kids in a “family room”. Didn’t get one with en suite but that wasn’t a huge issue and the communal showers were fine - long time since I have done the communal shower run back to room!!! Room itself was clean and basic but we had a fab view. Bunk beds which the kids loved and there was a sink. The well stocked communal kitchen was fine - ovens took ages to heat up so plan for that! Was busy at peak dinner/breakfast times but that’s to be expected and so long as everyone is respectful for others it’s all fine. Lochranza itself is beautiful and seeing deer just roaming about was an absolute joy. Hostelling is a great alternative to self catering/hotels and the kids really enjoyed their experience and want to go back!!!! 

Beautiful location

I came with a group of 10 French walkers, already familiar with British youth hostels, so they knew what to expect.  However, what marked out this hostel for us was the welcome we received from all of the staff - they were wonderful, and keen to share their knowledge of the area.  Yes, bunk beds are not always popular ( particularly if you are over 1.8m), and rooms can be rather crowded, but the ability to self-cater is a huge plus.  The provision of towels was also a nice touch.  We took the option of the continental breakfast, and this was excellent.  The hostel is beautifully situated, and if coming by bus, the drivers will always drop you off at the door - another example of local hospitality.  No complaints from my group, just lots of praise for a wonderful base to go walking.

ALL IN AGREEMENT - EXCELLENT

Family of 4 (two young children) stayed for one night at bank holiday weekend. Staff could be friendlier and respond to hi or good morning or smile, but well... maybe they were tired/busy. Large kitchen with everything you would need for cooking. Nice lounge with some old and incomplete toys and books for children. We had a 'family' room, basically a room with 2 bunk beds - good fun for kids. As you can imagine for a hostel you can hear every sound at night, but I think our kids made the most noise in the morning :) In general it was fun and an interesting alternative to hotels. I would recommend a short stay for families and obviously for usual cyclists, hikers, bikers, tourists, etc.

Nice and clean hostel in great location

Me and my boyfriend cycled from Brodick and it was a great trip - when we arrived at the hostel the trip got better as it was a lovely place, so quiet and cozy. The rooms were nice, bathrooms very good condition, kitchen and breakfast excellent. It was one of those quiet Scottish places that feels at the end of the world however just around the corner there is a lovely local cafe that sells locally grown and made food. A truly beautiful experience.
