204 reviewsWe had a great time staying at the Gifford House. It’s located within walking distance from the Royal Mile (you have to walk about a mile, but the bus stop is also right across the street). Just far enough to be quiet at night, but accessible to some of the main attractions. Josh and his brother reached out to us and communicated throughout our stay to make sure we were comfortable. It’s a self check in but the photos and the instructions for accessing the building and the room are spot on. We liked the decor and the cleanliness of our room (room 4). The supplied drinks in the mini fridge are a small thing that make a big difference in impressions of the stay. Hot water and shower flow were great! Rooms were quiet - I never heard any neighbors at all. (Possibly we got lucky with the co-habitants?). I also think the well-padded carpet throughout keeps the sound of footsteps to a minimum. I’m a light sleeper but inhabitant noise was never an issue which I appreciated greatly. Highly recommend making this your home base next time you visit Edinburgh. It’s a beautiful city with friendly, welcoming inhabitants. Gifford House is no exception.
