Each time we go it is consistently good, the food , the service, value for money . The menu caters for everybody vegans veggies and meat eaters. I think the only thing lacking is salad . The pizzas are really tasty and you can tell they are made to order

A great find for those who want great accommodation, friendly staff, great beer and easy access to Nottingham,  + free parking!

The price belies the quality I received, from  the moment I checked in very early.  Superb!

Great location, Beeston has a number of great pubs and many restaurants,

I will be back, and indeed will be this week!

Great value accommodation and food plus amazing ale selection. 

Stayed here this week for 2 nights with work. I would definitely recommend for businesses and people wanting clean and comfy accommodation with added benefit of being a top pub!!! 

I'm not from Beeston, and have recently been introduced to The Star by my partner who lives nearby. It's a great pub with a fantastic selection of ales and craft beers, a lovely atmosphere and great food.

Ive had their pizza every week for about a month now and really recommend it for its delicious base and selection of toppings.

A great place for a casual drink or dinner.

Visited the star with friends.nice real ale pub.Loverly back garden.quick and friendly staff.not bad prices.nice place to sit and chill on a sunny day.just down from the tram stop so not far to walk.good selection  of beers.

Working at an event at the Ice arena this pub is only about 10 minutes away so perfect. Warm welcome on arrival from Fabio, tiny room but clean, comfy, just what was needed. Pub downstairs with great selectionof beers and amazing woodfired pizza. Great value for money and we will be back next year :)

I was blown away by the lovely, helpful and friendly service from a young woman who showed me the room, the way out and then took me outside to direct me to the tram for the next morning. Then, when I woke up I found she'd left a note explaining how to alternatively get the train! Unbelievably good service. Also had a nice pizza for dinner in the pub.
The single room itself was small and basic but had everything I needed and I slept well. Finally, they let me leave my car in the car park all day while I went into town for my meetings. Highly recommended!

My local have just improved their menu - just had couple of steaks.
Very nice generous rump steaks and excellent friendly service as always.
Accompanied by few pints of 61 ale.

Good choice of beer.

It's well situated in the middle of Beeston. The tram and buses are just across the road so very handy for visiting Nottingham City Centre. We were attending a wedding in Long Eaton and it was handy for there too, even though Long Eaton isn't on the tram route. We parked in the car park- plenty of room and went to check in. We were earlier than we had expected but that wasn't a problem. Quick and friendly. The pub was larger than we had expected and has a number of quirky rooms and a beer garden. It also has an impressive range of beers. Sadly we had no time to sample them this time. We went to our room which had an en-suite. It's a budget room and the bed and furniture reflected this. There were not enough sockets for us to charge our phones . The TV was on the blink but we weren't there to watch TV. It's not The Ritz but it served its purpose for us.

The rooms are very clean and well-decorated at this public house with rooms right in the heart of the suburb town of Beeston yet they are somewhat compact with nowhere to sit other than on the bed also no tabletop space to place a laptop or the like.

The television was nice and the Wi-Fi was efficient.

The spotlessly clean modern bathroom could have benefited from better water pressure to the shower.

The pub is a real ale enthusiast's heaven and the pizza was truly delicious.

All in all good value for money and I would go back

Pros 
The room was good value at £65 per night. It was small and basic but contained a double bed with room to walk up both sides and three small drawer units. There was no wardrobe or chest of drawers but there were couple of coat hangers on the door hooks. The bed was comfortable, it was very clean throughout and there was tea and coffee making facilities.  The en-suite was small but perfectly fine and again very clean. Basic shampoo, conditioner etc was provided as well as two towels per person - not big and fluffy but wouldn't expect that for the price.  

I had some concerns about the noise levels but the windows provided decent soundproofing although earplugs were useful for the squeaking of the trams. 

Excellent location in Beeston.  3 minute walk to the high street and a tram stop opposite which went to Queen's Medical Centre. 10 minute car ride to Warhammer World and Broadgate Park and University of Nottingham campus a 20 minute walk away.

Staff were very welcoming and helpful.

Would stay again when visiting daughter at Uni.

Cons
The bedroom door security could be easily improved. The lock worked OK but was a bit loose and I would have preferred a proper deadlock given it was above a pub. I think the door at the top of the pub stairs leading to the bedrooms would have also benefitted from a lock. That said, I didn't feel unsafe. 

The soundproofing between rooms could be better but that's down to the age of the building. I could hear my neighbour talking but luckily that was only short phone call. Not sure that would have been the same if two people were in the room next door.

Good Value, clean and a great option if visiting the Beeston area for just a night or two

I stayed here as I had a nearby work event the next day, and I think that's where it can find its value - for people travelling for work. It was really busy on arrival but wasn't too long a wait to be seen to and shown to my room. The room was basic but clean and comfortable. I had my dinner downstairs in the pub, with a really tasty pizza. I think the pub is known for their pizzas, and honestly it probably helped out my scoring a little!

The place was heaving by the time I arrived, so there was a bit of a wait for the pizza, but with the crowd it made for interesting conversation. Loads of people had arrived for a local band playing; sausage rolls handed around and strangers having to squeeze up and share tables. As I was a sole traveller, I gave up two seats to a couple on a date. They were hilarious and clearly already halfway through the night - I split the pizza with them as it was so big and didn't want it going to waste. Hyper local, hyper friendly atmosphere.

The main complaint was that sound carried throughout the hotel. As I was working the next day, I went to bed before the band were finished, but I could hear them up in my room. And there were some chaps staying next door, I could hear their TV pretty clearly. Luckily though, I was pretty exhausted and fell asleep nevertheless. 

I think if you're a weary solo traveller finding yourself in Beeston/Nottingham for work and you need a warm place to stay on a tight budget, this is a pretty good place to go. It's not perfect, but you're supporting a local business who is definitely doing what it can to add to the community. If I find myself back in Beeston, I'd likely book it again.
