The New Inn

We had a great time in a charming friendly and welcoming hotel. Great location and excellent food.

The new inn is an excellent place to stay close to rye. The rooms are immaculate. The hosts are friendly and provide excellent service.The food in offer is also very good.

We had a really wonderful time at The New Inn! The location was perfect - right in the middle of Winchelsea which is a quiet, beautiful little town, but only a 5/10 minute drive to Rye. The room was lovely and really comfortable - one of the most comfortable beds I've slept in! The food was great, and the staff were really lovely and helpful. All in all a fantastic stay - I'd have no hesitations returning or recommending to a friend :)

We have just returned from a four night stay at  the New Inn, Winchelsea and I cannot recommend it highly enough. It's located right in the centre of the village and parking at the premises was never a problem. The landlord and landlady are a lovely couple and their staff are very pleasant and welcoming. Our accommodation was excellent. The room was extremely clean with fresh linen and towels everyday. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom well stocked. Unlike some places I have stayed in, hot water for showering etc was available at all times. We had an early dinner at the inn on two occasions and the food was excellent, very tasteful, fresh ingredients and well cooked. The complimentary breakfast was cooked to order and provided a great and filling start to the day. The inn has a beer garden and food can be taken outside if desired . The place is well located to use as a base for exploring the local area and we hope to enjoy the hospitality again soon. I recommend this place for a relaxing break.Andrew McIntyre

This is a period inn. The breakfast and dinner menus are good and the food is delicious. The publicans, Debbie and Paul, are very welcoming.

Wouldn’t hesitate to stay again, friendly staff and fab breakfast!

Fantastic break at The New Inn Winchelsea. The staff are friendly and food is very nice and the Breakfast inc in the cost was very very nice.

Nothing was too much trouble for owners Paul & Debbie and Lisa & Charlotte who served our food & drinks were a joy.  Room was very comfortable & clean and food was delicious.  The bonus of live music on our last night was unexpected and extremely lively and entertaining.  Cannot recommend more highly!

The landlord and landlady were lovely and the staff were friendly and helpful.  Top place.

A very special short break…

A wonderful place to stay, a very comfortable room with view towards the church. 
The food was excellent, real ale at the bar and looked after by a great team. 
There are some good walks to the coast, along the Royal Military Canal and into the beautiful Sussex countryside.
Winchelsea, a Cinque port, has so much history to explore, well worth the visit.

A Great Place to Stay

We stayed here for Mum & daughter break. It was perfect so peaceful. The staff were friendly. The rooms comfortable & nicely decorated. Comfy beds. And very clean. The food was very nice. And once settled we were able to walk around the village & see Spike Milligans grave. The church stained glass windows are stunning. I did write a review before but it doesn’t appear to have been published. I would stay at this place again anytime. It’s very old worldly & very restful. Thank you to our hosts.

Lovely place to stay very traditional & comfortable

Have just returned from a 2 night stay and must tell everybody how brilliant it was.Room  very comfortable and clean. Nice to have sofa to watch the smart ready TV.
Extra touches included good quality toiletries. Room cleaned between days with clean towels.
Pub food very  good value, food staff and owners extremely friendly.
Breakfast was either  continental or cooked or mixture. Didn't want to go home. 

Really lovely time need to send a review

Lovely old English inn with 5 rooms. Our room (4) had a large comfortable bed and nice powerful shower. A proper cooked breakfast was included using locally sourced produce. The dinner menu consists of your classic meals and these are well presented with healthy portions.
Paul, Debbie and their team are very welcoming hosts.
Winchelsea is an ancient town with buildings to match so expect creaky floorboards and low doorways, these all add to the charm imo.
Charles Palmer Vineyard is a 20 min walk along the 1066 trail and I can recommend their cheese & wine tasting.

Lovely meal here on Christmas Eve to kick off our Christmas celebrations Great selection of food as had both normal menu and Christmas menu to choose from Lovely fresh produce, cooked to high standard and great service by the lovely Kayleigh 
Sever at bar by others and all so friendly and polite

Christmas Eve meal for two

We loved this little Inn and all the people who worked there, especially  Paul and the lovely waitrss we had both nights. They were so friendly and very helpful. And just nice people to talk to.  The New Inn is very quaint and charming. Not too fancy, but perfect for a great stay in a beautiful village and the food was fabulous, both breakfast and dinner. And we found great drinks to keep us quenched. I would live there if I could!
