Absolutely perfect location to explore the Suffolk countryside and coast. Unbelievably quiet and tranquil with comfortable, spotless rooms which were a good size. 

Sally and Rosie were so helpful and kind, producing delicious breakfasts each morning - cannot wait to go back.

What a great find. We spent a couple of nights at Trustans Barn as we were attending an event nearby. The bedroom and the breakfast room were beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. Sally and Rosie and their family were very friendly and accommodating and Rosie cooks a very good breakfast too. We'd have no hesitation in recommending or returning.

Last visited here in 2018 and I was concerned that the place might be starting to look a little tired but no need for concern - it is still beautifully decorated and as smart as before. We had 2 rooms, both very comfortable, spotlessly clean with lots of little luxuries and we all slept really well.
Breakfast was excellent with a wide choice of food, both cold and hot.
Meet by Sally who was chatty and very helpful.
I cannot praise here highly enough and can strongly recommend staying here.

Friendly owners, lovely breakfast, real concern by the chef that we be happy, eaten at one of two shared tables. cracking location, excellent room, wi-fi a little slow (due to the location no doubt) but it works unless you try to stream in HD, mown walks outside, we saw a lot of wildlife pheasants etc.

We have just had 3 nights at Trustans barn. Everything is great- lovely breakfast, very comfortable room, beautiful surroundings. Rosie and Sally really put themselves out to be welcoming and we loved it. Sad to be home! 

We had a short delightful break at Trustans Barn. The Barn is ideally placed for visiting the Suffolk landmarks and there are pubs and other eating places within easy reach. The rooms are beautifully designed, each with their own theme. We stayed in the Smithy as it had a bath as well as a shower in the en suite. The room was spotlessly clean. Despite being close to the A12 it was very peaceful and surrounded by meadowland and wildlife. Sally and Rosie were wonderful, friendly hosts and the breakfasts were delicious made from local produce. We will be back.

If there were 10 stars I would give this little hidden gem all of them. I cannot fault anything at all about our two night stay apart from we were only there for 2 nights! The check in was easy, Sally met us on arrival, showed us to our beautiful room. Explained about the meadow trail and local places to go and also to eat. Fish and chips by the sea in Southwold on our first evening then back to sit and watch the wildlife and we even saw a Barn owl flying in front of us. The bed & pillows were so comfortable and Breakfast was delicious, cooked by lovely Rosie our first morning with local produce and the eggs were from chickens at Trustans Barn. It was lovely to sit and eat breakfast and chat to the other guests as well as Sally and Rosie. We ate at the Fox Inn which we walked to and it took about 20 minutes. Lovely meal there and cocktails. A good nights sleep again not forgetting the amazing shower which my partner said was in his top 5 showers he’s used! Many of the guest return and I can see why, we will be back as it was such a relaxing stay with all of the little touches that made it perfect.

We have recently stayed for 4 nights in the ground floor willow room. Very spacious and comfortable with a Superking bed. Trustans Barn is well located near Darsham and very convenient for accessing Southwold to the north and Aldeburgh/Thorpness to the South. Rosie and Sally are excellent hosts and on hand to give advice and recommendations.  Nice breakfast to start the day and an opportunity to chat to other guests.

Very peaceful calm rural setting, nice size room, spotless with lovely decor, bedding, bathroom & shower. Well stocked tray with drinks, biscuits. We loved starting the day with a great breakfast in the meadow tent, it’s a lovely touch. Local food, beautifully cooked. There’s a lovely meadow trail with sculptures to see as well as old trees & wildlife. We visited Aldeburgh (squeezed in Fishers Gin Distillery tour), Sutton Hoo, Dunwich, Southwald, all within easy reach. For evening meals there are places nearby though we loved just sitting outside by the tents with local fish & chips or a ploughman’s we made up.  Sally & Rosie are great, as is their team. So welcoming, everyone good to just chat to, they really want to make your stay a great one. Feel lucky to have come across this truly relaxing place.

A fondly anticipated return. Just as good as ever.
  The usual spotless room, with attention to every detail. The usual warm and friendly welcome from Sally and Rosie. A new breakfast chef, who proved as skilled and pleasant as one could wish. Who could ask for anything more?

We’ve just spent three nights at Trustans Barn. The farm is off a quiet country lane with very little traffic around. The buildings are lovely and you’re free to wander around the land, with a little trail clearly marked. There’s ample parking on-site.
We stayed in The Smithy which is a ground floor room with a good sized bathroom with freestanding bath and a well proportioned shower. The iron bedstead was a bit of a worry as my husband is over 6ft tall but we needn’t have worried as the bed was a good size. The only issue I had is the footsteps from the room above but this might have been more of an issue as the guests staying there arrived back after we’d gone to bed each night.
We’d have loved access to fresh milk in our room but Sally kindly filled a small flask for us.
For us, the location of Trustans Barn was perfect for exploring that part of the county, including RSPB Minsmere, Aldeburgh, Woodbridge and Sutton Hoo.
There are plenty of pubs in the area but you’ll be wise to book ahead as they get busy. A handy list (and some sample menus) are provided at the B&B. We ended up eating at The Fox in Darsham twice as there was a shortage of chefs at some other eateries. We had two tasty meals there and it was safe to walk there and back in daylight.
This B&B is spotlessly clean and in our opinion has the perfect stance of not accepting children or dogs in their rooms. The two sisters, Sally and Rosie are the highlight of this place though - friendly and nothing feels like it’s too much trouble.

A tranquil break in rural Suffolk

Trustans Barn is a perfect place to stop and relax - as we found out on a previous visit.  there are plenty of eateries and sights to visit within the immediate area.  Sally and Rosie are the perfect hosts, the breakfasts are prepared and cooked to order and everywhere is spotless and covid safe.  We were lucky enough to visit last month and experienced the delight of eating in a fully carpeted bell-tent , on a perfectly round deck, it even had our names on a board outside.  Such innovation in difficult times was much appreciated and we look forward to another visit with maybe another innovative idea to please us all. ??
