I grew up in the area, in fact my family lived in the Coal Hole next door! I moved away many years ago, but had to return recently for a family funeral. Staying at GelliHaf was excellent. Our room - The Taf - was well equipped and comfortable. Both Cath and Howard were excellent hosts and the breakfast very good.
Will definitely be back and stay in better circumstances.


A wonderful stay

What a lovely place to stay. Catherine and Howard are a lovely couple and make you feel right at home. Nothing seems too much trouble. They have done an amazing job on the house it is beautifully decorated. Cannot fault anything, rooms are so well equipped and beds very comfortable. Spoilt for choice at breakfast,Catherine is clearly a great cook and homemaker.


What a good experience, would definitely book again.

We grew up in the area and knew the house and out of curiosity we wanted to stay when we found it was now a B&B. Our expectations were exceeded in a 2 night stay. We were greeted almost as family friends by Howard and Catherine. We were give a full tour of the house and were filled with admiration for the restoration work that was done.  It is a beautiful house maintaining the "Arts and Crafts" style. Our bedroom was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The bathroom was superbly equipped with double washbasins, bath and separate shower. Breakfast was special with fruit pastries and homemade bread followed by a cooked to order hot breakfast with locally sourced items.  The house is ideally placed for visiting South Wales attractions such as Caerphilly Castle. Our hosts could not have been more friendly and welcoming and we look forward to our next stay

Brilliant B&B

We loved every second that we stayed in the two nights we stayed at Gellihaf House. Catherine and Howard were really so very lovely and welcoming, and even though we live nearby it felt like a little home away from home. The bed is really very comfortable, the bathroom is immaculate and the house itself is stunning. Then there's the breakfast - so good! A shame my eyes were bigger than my stomach as it was a lovely cooked breakfast alongside a continental breakfast bar. Genuinely one of the nicest places we've been and we can't wait to come back soon.

Loved Gellihaf House - thank you Catherine and Howard!

This is such a high end, comfortable, and beautiful place. The rooms are top quality with a view of the garden below. The garden even has a fountain. We stayed here three nights and enjoyed all of it. Howard and Cath are very welcoming. Both of them liked to visit but also left you to yourself. If I were ever to return to this area, this would be the place I would stay.

Jus had a few days in Wales at a family wedding and booked Gellihaf House omg what a really pleasant experience from the time we drove through the gates .We were met by Howard and Cath and immediately made us feel like friends,we were shown around the house before being shown our room and what a Stunning, atmospheric, tastefully decorated to bless the  gellhaf's beautiful character  Stunning ambience ,lovely tastful furniture with a touch of modern in the bathroom   .The Breakfast experience was superb,not only the beautiful dining  room and nice backround music to set the mood ,the  lovely cooked Breakfast was full of local produce and side table with fresh fruit,pastries and cearels anand fresh juice and A nice freshly brewed coffee     . The whole experience was excellent from start to finish and made our stay in Wales a wonderous experience. Myself and my wife would to thank Howard and Cath for there overall hospitality ..

Wow just WOW

Cath & Howard run a first class establishment. They are the consummate hosts, very friendly & welcoming. They have done a great job of restoring & decorating Gellihaf House to a high standard in keeping with it original 1930"s design. All mod cons in a classic setting. You will enjoy your stay in this little slice of luxury. 

Excellent place for a relaxing stay

Since taking over Gellihaf Howard and Cath have transformed the property with the result that not only is it a terrific family home to which their family can come on occasion but also an extremely comfortable place for guests to stay. The bedrooms are large with modern en-suite facilities and as we were meeting up with friends we particularly appreciated the ability to use the spacious lounge where we could enjoy chatting/playing games over a glass of wine. The location is great with it being an easy drive into Cardiff or the Brecon Beacons (sorry, I haven't mastered the latter's new name). There are multiple visitor attractions within easy reach and whilst the evening dining options are more limited there are hopes that a new pub/restaurant may be opening in the not too distant future within the briefest of strolls. As hosts Cath & Howard couldn't have been more accommodating and it was a pleasure to have the chance to chat to them at breakfast time - the breakfast being of the same high standard.  

A delightful stay

Beautifully and lovingly restored country house with large , comfortable en-suite rooms. We could not have ben made more welcome by Howard and Cath and the breakfast is superb and plentiful. A great location to visit the South Wales valleys. It is close to Cardiff, the Wye Valley and many famous spots. Unhesitatingly recommend a stay. We will certainly return.

Comfort, a warm welcome, character and style.

A beautiful hidden gem of a property that I found a few years ago, hence my return visit whilst visiting my friend nearby.  Cath and Howard are wonderful hosts and make you feel very welcome.  Just wish I could have had a longer stay to enjoy to enjoy my beautiful room and the great breakfasts with delicious home made bread.  Will happily re-visit one day and gladly recommend to anyone.
