The Grange Hotel

The house was perfect for our family and friends holiday. Plenty of room and soundproof on was good so the noisier ones didn't  disturb others too much! The open plan kitchen and dining area was great, really sociable and the table had enough space for everyone. 

We would definitely go again. 

Grange Fell B&B having moved away from being a B&B and now being a large holiday let provided us a perfect place to stay. 

We stayed for a week (Fri-Fri) 10 adults and 3 young children (and 2 dogs) 

Three bedrooms on the 1st floor 2 with en-suite and a large bathroom.

And three bedrooms upstairs with a large bathroom to share. 

Quite simply it was a home from home with all you could ask for. We cooked dinners each night, it had lots of space for seating and every pot, pan, plates enough for our large party. Home delivery was available (ASDA) and that arrived when we did, so that took some stress out.  Free reasonably fast Wi-Fi and TVs enough for everyone. A lovely gas fire for those chilly, wet lake district evenings. A decent sized Boot/utility room for wet clothes and muddy boots. It was clean. A bit dated in some places which you would reasonably expect with a property that age but added to the charm. 

Location wise it is at the top of a large hill leading up from the town, so if you're not used to walking or not able bodied it could be a struggle. The town itself I found lovely and a nice stroll. Being reasonably fit I also enjoyed a jog along the prom and ran into Kent, one of the most idyllic jogs I've had. 

It is nearly last in the line of houses before you get to the base of the fell and it is a wonderful walk across and Cartmel a pretty village is within walking ease. 

We drove to most locations Windermere, Keswick, Brockhole, steam Railway, motor museum, boat ride. There is so much to do around you couldn't possibly get bored. 

Pat was welcoming and although we had no problems ourselves I got the sense had there been any issues she would have resolved them as soon as she could. 



We had a good sized room and shower all spotlessly clean. Fast wi-fi was also included. The full-english breakfasts were great with goo dquality local ingredients. there was selection of local preserves on the tables. The B&B is almost the last building in Grange , so its quite a climb uphill from the attractive centre and promenade if you walk, on the other hand its very handy for walking in Hampsfell, the hospice  (walkers shelter) walk is recommended by us and Wainwright.

The rooms were many, large and mostly clean, with pristine en suite bathrooms. I really recommend this place for friends or family staying together. The kitchen fit 11 of us in it, and the massive dining table was also a great element. I disliked that the house was quite old fashioned and dull, but the incredibly substantial amount of space made up for it. The garden was a little too small, though there were two of them. The free Wi-Fi was useful, as was the free parking at the side of the hotel.

We stayed here for a night as we were attending a wedding nearby. A friend chose the B&B but when I looked at it, I was pleased to see it had so many positive reviews on TripAdvisor. 
Pat was indeed very helpful and had located us (2 couples and 1 single) up on the top floor which was lovely as it felt very private and quiet. She was very hospitable in accommodating our request for breakfast a little earlier, which then, it turned out, we did not need, but she was willing to help us out all the same. She also allowed us to borrow her taxi numbers list so that we could sort out a lift back. I thought this was very kind of her, especially as it was the only one she had! 
The breakfast was delicious - we all had the full English. Just what the Doctor ordered for a long trip back down south that morning. 
The only thing I would say could be improved was the mattresses. They were not quite as comfortable as I would have liked, but this could have been because we were up on the top floor which is not normally used for B&Bs. 
Overall, a great stay.
