We have passed by on many occasions and have always meant to call in to sample the restaurant. We are so glad we did! Despite the small vegetarian options, I went in open-minded, and was not disappointed! I had the vegetarian lasagne and chips, and it was full of flavour and just the perfect size to enjoy. It was delicious, and the coleslaw and salad were fresh and enjoyable. My family also enjoyed their meat dishes, and declared it the best in some time! The staff members are friendly and enjoy a chat which is always a bonus!! We will be back regularly - just a small tip for management - maybe widen the vegetarian options! Awesome.

Food was amazing, staff are extremely friendly, we were staying at a different hotel and we were offered a lift back from the staff, definitely recommend for a lovely meal, thank you for your hospitality, we will be coming back again and will be telling our friends and family to visit

When visiting Grandad we make sure that we stop off at The Halfway House always for dinner at least once during our visits to Larne Northern Ireland and it’s a must!! Dave and he’s team are fantastic from start to finish, we are made to feel welcome by the waiting staff and the food is always of high standards and quality!! We tried the “Tobacco Onions” along with our burgers as we’d never heard of them and they are delicious would recommend!! All washed down with possibly the nicest creamiest Guinness. Looking forward to our next visit 10/10 

We stopped here for tea after travelling down the Antrim coast road. The menu was varied and reasonably priced. Service was excellent as was the food. I had a throwback to the 70s, Chicken Maryland, and my partner had chicken curry with half chips/rice.  We don’t tend to be in this area at meal times but if we are in the future we would have no hesitation in returning. Well done HHH!

This was our first visit back to The Halfway House Hotel for a number of years and it was great to see the restaurant so busy - we were still able to get a table though and the food was simply amazing, we are a small family of 3 and each of us had a different meal and everyone was delighted, including the fussy 9-year old.  Great and prompt service, with very attentive staff, all under the direction of the legendary world champion boxer Dave Boy McAuley who owns and runs the hotel.  Very reasonably priced too and the location beside the Irish Sea with views out towards Scotland is unbeatable.  A real gem of a place!

The Halfway House is a bit like time travelling to 1987 but in a reassuringly good way.

We have called in twice in the last month for lunch and, on both occasions, the food and staff have been brilliant.

We called in for dinner this evening as we were staying in a nearby B&B and the owner of the B&B recommended it to us. 

We did not have a booking and that was not a problem. We got given a table straight away. 

We had 2 courses each and a few drinks. We both went for the southern fried chicken burger and chips for the main and I must say it was delicious. 
Really fresh. 
We got dessert as well. I got the banoffee and my husband got the ferrero rochet cheesecake,  both were accompanied with fresh cream. 
Again they were delicious. 

I would highly recommend the halfway house hotel. Has a great varied menu with a stunning view. Very friendly staff.
We even got a lift back to our B&B by the ower which was absolutely Amazing. 
Can’t wait to return.

Came here for a family gathering, we had a meal and some drinks . The setting is unreal ! Amazing sea views and a spotlessly clean and welcoming restaurant/bar! The staff were very welcoming and as for the food …………… absolutely top class ! Every one in our group could not speak highly enough of the dishes that we ordered and received . A hidden gem on the Antrim coast that deserves your custom. You will not be disappointed . Thank you to the owner and the staff of the half way house for the A1 experience that we all had … we will be back…. Regularly .

We stayed midweek for one night in this beautiful quaint hotel. I have stayed before and we will definitely be back again. Staff are polite, pleasant and were always eager to greet us and make us feel welcome. I loved the quirky winding corridors leading to our room which was a decent size and spotless. Shower/bath and toilet were clean. Slept really well in their comfortable room after a busy day exploring areas nearby. Plenty of parking across from the hotel along this beautiful coastline. Breakfast consisted of fruit and yogurt, toast along with a tasty fry. We had our evening meal in the hotel and we both had starters followed by the most delicious fillet steak by far either of us had ever had. Portion size was perfect, the steak was cooked to absolute perfection (medium)....I have been telling anyone who will listen about the fillet steak!!

Hadn't been here for a good while and called in on the off chance. Myself and my Partner were staggered. We were offered a Table and all social distancing was adhered to. The Waitress informed us immediately that our meal might be slightly delayed as they had a large function on.
             This honesty impressed me. The menu is extensive. The food arrived very much on time, the starters were very good. When the Mains arrived they were piping hot, excellent portions and beautifully cooked. 
   This is without doubt a gem. The Staff were excellent, the food was great and to be perfectly honest, one of the best value meals I've had anywhere in Northern Ireland. 
           I would recommend the Halfway House to anyone who loves good home cooked food. I will be back. I've been plenty of so called top notch restaurants. Many could learn a lot from this establishment.  Well done

Lovely flavoursome food with friendly staff

Halfway House and fully pleased... fittingly on my visit out to the Coast...the hotel was well positioned also to city of Belfast sea and airports... in itself a lovely setting perfectly situated roadside seaside on that coastal  scenery route... mountain backdrop, some nice watercolours i spotted with a glimpse over to Scottish shores unique...a stop off place with character... was pleased with my accommodation allocated, food grub available and afforded a pleasant overall stay thanks to the efforts of the hotelier and staff... thanking you kindly...I would return to the hotel upon a homeland coastal trip (Ritchey, world traveller extensive diverse..,

Dinner at Dave’s Halfway House

Excellent food, service and value for money!

Stopped here for lunch last week on our way round the coast , food excellent, lunch time deal until 2.30pm, excellent value on these cash strapped days, didn’t get 5 because although staff very friendly , we did see them chatting at the bar…and had to go up to them to take our order, overall loved the food, 5 star and we’ve a mobile home close and will certainly return

Fantastic Food, Service & Location

This is like going back in time to a 80s style menu and restaurant. However, the food was excellent with both the chicken and beef stir fry being really tasty.
 
I had sherry trifle which reminded me of my late mother's trifle and my wife had pavlova. The trifle was very good but the pavlova was a bit heavy.

Despite a crowd of bikers stopping here for snacks and food the staff were quick and efficient and we were served promptly. It was not expensive and we were more than happy with the quantity.

The decor in the place could do with a modernisation but if you like good food with no pretensions this is just fine.
