We have stayed at Claxton Hall Cottage over the past years with the most wonderful friendly lady you could ever wish to meet Carol 

She really makes you feel welcome every time we have stayed over the past years it was a bit of a shock to see that the place had been sold and Carol has i believe retired after 20 years which is totally understandable we wish you all the best for the future

We stayed here on a Wednesday and Thursday  evening. We were greeted by Carol with tea and coffee along with homemade fruit cake, which was rather good.
Room was lovely with a four poster bed, this is a double not a king size. It was very clean with plenty of space. Tea and coffee making facilities in the bedroom, just need to ask for fresh milk.
Bathroom had everything required including small shampoo and shower gel. The only thing  was the shower pressure wasn't very strong and it took a while the rinse the shampoo out of my thick hair, on the plus side plenty of hot water.
The breakfast was cooked fresh and very good, the bacon was very tasty. Plenty of fresh fruit, yogurt plus an assortment of cereal to choose from. Tea, Coffee and juice all available.
We were going to a wedding at the nearby Sandburn Hall and booking a taxi. To travel 1.3 miles we were charged £20. So be aware no local taxis available and all come out from York. Uber are not always available so depends what is in the area. If you aren't intending to drink it is quite easy to get around  by car and park and rides are available too.
Would return here again.

We stayed here for two nights in July. It was one of the best B&Bs we have stayed in. Carol  couldn't do enough for us the breakfast is to die for. The rooms are spotless with a four poster bed. We will definitely return.

We’ve stayed here many times now, and we’ve always been so impressed! Nothing is too much trouble for Carol who always goes out of her way to make sure your stay is brilliant.

The room we stayed in was a good size with a comfy sofa, good sized tv and a comfortable 4 poster bed. The breakfast provided was great with a wide choice. 

The cottage is surrounded by a fantastic garden and although only a short distance from the A64, is peaceful. Lots of safe car parking available and only 10 minutes from the centre of York. Can’t wait to come back!

Spent two nights here after family get together and really enjoyed the good sized room and bathroom. It’s in a great position for York and the beautiful surrounding area. The owner is friendly and helpful (good recommendations for evening meals) and breakfast was excellent. All in all, a great find and would love to stay again if in the area.

We booked here for our wedding night as it was close to our venue and looked like a nice place to stay. Carol was very helpful and accodomating. The 4 poster room with the patio doors was fab, the breakfast was lovely and the price is very reasonable. Would definitely stay and again and reccomend this to Anyone, especially if you are having or attending a wedding or event 
nearby.

We were attending a wedding at Sandburn Manor, and were looking for somewhere local- but also within a taxi ride to York.

Booked in for 2 nights.  Couldn’t have expected anything more!

From the lovely welcome (including cake on arrival); spacious comfortable room; great advice regarding transport (try an Uber!) and perfect breakfast - this place was perfect, from start to finish.

Just stayed here for 2nights as we were attending a wedding at Sandburn Hall. Arriving on 8th March. We arrived at 7pm and was still greeted with coffee and cake.

Breakfast was great, ceral, fruit and a home cooked breakfast. 

As I was leaving for a hair appointment on the Saturday morning I was even offered an umbrella to keep my hair dry (it's the little things!)

You have 24/7 access so can come and go as you please, there is a residents lounge. 
The bedroom we had was a Four Poster and it was a great size. 

Jack the little Border Terrier was lovely and you didn't even know he was there!

Would definitely stay here again it was great location for York and Malton and even though it was right on  A64 you didn't hear any traffic.
