The Stowey Arms

We visited the Stowey for breakfast. There was a warm welcome on arrival.  Instantly felt comfortable. Charlie their cockapoo gave us a lovely welcome too!  Good selection of  food to choose from, which was cooked to order. 
My partner had a large breakfast and I had a small vegetarian breakfast, both were presented well, with the baked beans served in a separate dish (always a plus point!). Both were breakfasts were generous sized platefuls and hot.
Refillable tea and coffee which you help yourself to. 
Excellent value for money and a relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommended. Definitely will return.

Lovely atmosphere and service. Very welcoming, we would eat here but not clear what or where the menus are or what nights they have food, at the moment. Would have loved the fire to be lit, it’s a little dressy without it. Lounge seating is comfortable and little Charlie (the dog). is entertaining

Under new management and what a change! Cosy, busy, welcoming, friendly, experienced owners. I've waited  9 years for someone to run this pub well and my wait was worth it. Redecorated and given a facelift the Stowey Arms is finally good. I can't wait for them to start serving food which I'm optimistic will be as good as the atmosphere. I can't recommend this place enough. Come on Exminster lets give them support for all their efforts and its a Win Win all round!

What a fantastic Saturday evening and night away from our children at the Stowey Arms!
The quiz night was brilliant, what a great atmosphere, the locals were very friendly and welcoming too. 
To top it all off, we stayed overnight and the room was spotless, better than any other pub room we’ve stayed in before. Alison and Keith were the perfect hosts. Top marks to the Stowey Arms and see you again soon.

3 of us stayed in s room with 2 double beds. It was great, Huge comfortable rooms. clean and tidy. Jess the landlady was brilliant. She couldn't do enough for us. She arranged our taxis for the  evening, recommended places close by to eat. Added bonus being a pub you  can  have a drink while getting ready

Amazing customer service. Bed and breakfast clean and had everything we needed. Lovely hot shower. Breakfast cooked to order was not included but very cheap for what we received.Sunday roast was great.

we arrived last minute after booking a room online with a 16 month old baby after driving 6 hours that day, around 6 pm, exhausted. In a strange turn of events, the room wasn't supposed to be available for another month as the pub is now in the hands of new owners, and we caught them off-guard. however, they went well above the expected service. within a half an hour they had the room ready, had us a cooked dinner (the kitchen had been closed as well), and found a baby cott in the local village for us to use.  In the morning they had a full English, hot and ready for us. they could have easily turned us away but they gave 110% to make us as comfortable as possible. Absolutely wonderful.

I found myself needing urgently to find accomodation in the area due to a traumatic  family emergency. The Landlady was helpful and accomodating and simply could not have been more kind. After the first night I was unsure if I needed further night(s) and the landlady kindly said she would leave me pencilled in so I could let her know when I was able.
I was offered the utmost support in traumatic circumstances, the room - with full ensuite - was immaculately clean with a really great tray with tea, coffee (proper stuff too!) a flask with fresh milk and biscuitsand there was a lot of flexibility about when I could get breakfast (I'm not keen on early rising!!). 
I was told Devon is a kind place with nice people, I now see how it has that reputation.

Had a fabulous roast lunch here today. Plenty of meat and fresh vegatables, even cauli and brocoli cheese! All perfectly seasoned and very tasty. Friendly bar staff and nice atmosphere. Will definitely return

Im a singer and had a gig in Devon, I struggled to get accommodation but came across the Stowey Arms . Paula and the team were excellent and couldn't don enough.Highly recommend.  I will be going back for sure. Mark Harris

Lovely hearty pub, great atmosphere and very welcoming owners, paige and andy are very welcoming people as soon as i walked in.had a lovely time and would highly recommend for everyone. Great for family's looking to have a nice meal and drinks, also good for catch with friends and has a snooker table and even darts, had a great stay thanks.

We visited back in September 2020 with our daughter who had just started at Uni not too far away.  As we'd changed her move in date at the last minute we'd not pre-booked anywhere for dinner on the Friday evening and found everywhere nearby completely full but following a few hundred mile trip early that minute, plus the move, really wanted to go and sit in somewhere to relax for a couple of hours.  We drove out a little and came across this pub and thought it was lovely.  They were so accommodating.  Everything was clean and sanitised.  They had a limited menu but even I as a veggie found something.  It was quiet, relaxing and really good food, just what we needed.  I've seen the other reviews and don't quite understand it as the couple were so friendly and would revisit when back down there.   Was perhaps a little expensive but that would be the only negative for us.

Pub in a lovely setting with decent food (and very accommodating with no booking during Covid).
