It's difficult to to separate one Premier Inn from another as internally they are all so similar. It's clean, well run and close to the centre of town and the university. Why stay anywhere else? Being able to take your bike into your room is definitely a plus.

Great location and clean well maintained modern decor . The staff were all friendly and very helpful in particular Colleen . We would stay here again. 
Despite its central location very quiet at night great bed and lovely shower and bathroom .

This is our second stay at this hotel.  We just stay overnight as we just live in Newcastle.  The staff are absolutely brilliant, Coleen was on reception this time and she welcomes everyone like they're long lost family.  Great rooms, great location for all the sights in Durham, great breakfast, and great bar and restaurant service.

Having booked an accessible room with walkin shower, the staff contacted me in the middle of the week before my arrival to see if there was an other ammendments I would need or if there was anything they could organise in preparation for my arrival, they then contacted me again the day before just to double check. Absolutely outstanding service. Very comfortable room with plenty of room to manoeuvre my wheelchair in the main room and the bathroom. The city is well within walking distance with a fantastic atmosphere. Everyone is so friendly 🙂

Had a lovely night stay, room was lovely and clean, bed was comfortable had a really good night sleep we didn't want to get up in the morning. Staff where all nice and friendly and helpful. Was no noise from outside which is good. We didn't have any food while we where there so can't really comment on it but it did look nice when they where bringing it out for other people.

I have not visited this hotel before and wanted something that was central, comfortable and clean.  The Walkergate Inn fulfilled this and exceeded my expectations.  Staff were very friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. Will definitely stay here again the next time I return to Durham to see friends. 

Nice hotel, just what I wanted. Right in the town centre and next to parking for my minibus, which was the most important thing for me, as I was picking my boy up from Durham uni, after three year and all his things he has accumulated in three years .

Excellent, it looks like they have everything in place and correct, the room was the best i have seen and I look forward to coming back next year, close to public transport and city centre yet was very quiet. 

2 nights for £75 was a great deal for this popular hotel. Well located for all the attractions of Durham.  If you are arriving by train and have lots of luggage, grab a taxi rather than tackle the many steep steps down into town.  All the bedrooms and corridors have just had a full refresh into a new house style and look great.  The triple glazing is amazing at keeping the outside world at bay.  Only niggle was the new style air con control panel on the wall which is totally different to the one described on the  instruction card in the room.  It also didn't help that on my 1st night the system was unable to deliver heat in the way it did on my 2nd night.  There are lots of staff always on duty and very friendly and pleasant to deal with - I felt a great team spirit going on.  The ground floor public areas are due a full refit at the beginning of 2024 at which point the fraying furniture will be replaced.  The restaurant menu is due an imminent change too.  I'd be more than happy to stay here again when the price is right.

Premier Inns are always clean and comfortable but this one is supremely so. Pristine bedroom and bathroom, comfortable beds (including the "extra" bed, which is a proper single, not just a glorified camp bed), and a great little lounge and bar area in the lobby which makes the hotel feel like a place you want to hang out and relax.

But best of all are the staff - every single one friendly, welcoming, doing little things to make the stay special, like bringing over to our table freshly-cooked eggs and sausages at breakfast when they had run out, so you didn't have to stand around waiting at the buffet.  

And of all the staff we have to give a special mention to Robbie, who was just a star - from arranging early check-in to telling us where the rest of our party was at any moment to exchanging a laugh and a joke.  He was always ready with a smile and a helpful attitude. 

Robbie & his colleagues really made our stay feel unexpectedly special & we wouldn't stay anywhere else when we come back.

Loverly stay

One of the best Premier Inn's we've stayed in. Recently refurbished, clean and attractively decorated. Great staff. Good location for Durham centre without being in the hustle and bustle. No on site parking but a public around 100 metres away with discounted rate. Decent breakfast choice.
