This was perfect for a few days in Dover. Breakfast lovely and caters for gluten free. 
Robert and Susan our hosts were helpful and provided good info about the town and attractions. 
Walking distance from both ferry terminal and train even with our bags. Plan to just take up a few things as it is. Few flights. 

My sister and I spent the night at Loddington House. Robert, the owner, was extremely welcoming and friendly. The whole vibe of the place was warm and welcoming. The pink room we stayed in was cute and charming with a private bathroom (not en-suite). Our bedroom window gave us a lovely view of the ferry terminal, and back bedrooms have views of the white cliffs. 
We stayed one night and left early so we didn't partake of the breakfast, but it is definitly a place I would stay at again if I was in the area.

My daughter and I stayed here overnight a few days ago. Everything was so delightful that we wish we could stay longer. Robert was such a charming and helpful host.  He directed us to the path to the white cliffs (literally out the back door), where to go eat, and the best way to walk to the ferry without being flattened.  The hotel is a listed historical property, so he is limited in the improvements he can make.  But we love it the way it is. The breakfast supplied in the morning was superb and the dining area is lovely. 
Robert printed our ferry tickets for us in the morning.  We would recommend this place to anyone. 

My wife and I stayed at the Loddington House for one evening in late July. We found almost every aspect of our stay to be delightful and were very pleased with the accommodation. 

We met the owner at our prearranged time and he showed us to our room. He provided us with a little history of the house and even informed us that our room was rumored to be haunted. We appreciated this tidbit, although we did not experience any paranormal activity. 

The house itself is very charming and old in the best kind of way. It is located in an excellent spot just below Dover Castle and the white cliffs. From the house, we could see the exit to the secret wartime tunnels. We were able to easily walk from the house to downtown Dover for some dinner. 

Our breakfast options included Full English or continental (fruit, croissants, cereal, and yogurt). We opted for continental and enjoyed the best fruit salad bowl we had ever tasted. In fact, when we got home from our trip we tried our best to replicate that fruit bowl for our own breakfasts. We were hooked on the healthy and tasty start to the day! 

Our only complaint was that our room's bathroom did not include a shower. We stayed in the Victorian Room and our bathroom down the hall only had a bathtub. This wasn't too big of a deal, but if you require a shower, consider contacting the owner ahead of time to find out which rooms include shower heads.

We enjoyed our stay so much that I would readily consider another trip to Dover knowing that we have a wonderful option for accommodation. I would not hesitate to book here again and would look forward to the stay with great anticipation.

Robert was the most accommodating and welcoming host we've experienced. The lodgings had a wonderful charm, and with a delicious home cooked full english breakfast to begin our next day of travel we couldn't have wished for more for our stop over in Dover. We can't thank Robert enough for his hospitality on our introduction to England.

The location under the white cliffs of Dover with immediate access to walking routes, the room and facilities were good with features (I think it is listed). The host was helpful with advice and arranging a taxi.

We spent one night here before a Fred. Olsen cruise departed. It was what I would have imagined for a British seaside  stop. The view from the front is The English Channel and The White Cliffs of Dover on the other side.
   This 1830s townhouse is not for you if you are expecting elevators, spacious bathrooms and a minibar. Better if you want to imagine yourself in a British novel. 
  Room was small, clean with a million dollar view.  I have to admit, carpet in the bathroom was ick although clean. Breakfast was delicious full English or fruit/granola/yogurt type thing served “in the morning room”.
   Robert, the owner, was friendly, flexible, gave great dinner suggestions and helped us by ordering a cab the next day. 
 While you are in Dover,visit Dover Castle and walk the promenade along the water.

Would stay again in a heartbeat.

A short taxi-ride brought us from the train station to Loddington House. We stayed here for a couple of days pre-cruise--having read Robert's advice regarding no lift and steep stairs we made sure we had a small bag/suitcase for overnight use and stored our larger bags on the first floor.  Our room was ensuite and had everything we needed for our stay.  Breakfast was very good--especially the fresh fruit and granola. Robert is friendly and helpful, we especially enjoyed learning about the history of the building and his childhood in and around the cliffs!  A perfect location for walking the cliffs or walking into town. We had a very enjoyable stay.

Took time to get in the front door. Old-fashioned, steep stairs; not ensuite, but private bathroom on same landing. Hosts affable, breakfast excellent, with fresh fruit on the granola. Given good advice on local restaurants for dinner.

The owner, Robert, is really friendly and the continental breakfast was great, with fresh fruits and Yoghurt, warm Croissants and pain au chocolat.
While having breaksfast in the old fashioned breakfast room we had a really nice view into the garden. The private parking is easy to reach, even though limited.
The hotel is a really good starting point to either reach an early ferry or to start for a walk on the white cliffs of Dover.

Unfortunately there are also some negative things to mention.
Originally we booked the cream room, but upon arrival we were told that this room is not available as a guest broke the thermostate of the shower the day before. Due to that we were offerd one of two twin-rooms with ensuite or a double room with private bathroom on the same floor.
We decided for the double room, we guess it was the pink room.

The room as the bathroom was run-down and looked like it has last been renovated/updated in the 70s, some examples:
- the phone was totally yellowed and brown 
- the carpet in the room and bathroom was old with brown spots at the edges
- the blanket was a thin, bad quality synthetic bedcover, we can't even describe it properly
Those are just some things to mention...
The complete atmosphere of the room and bathroom let us feel uncomfortable and left us with quite some discomfort.
To be mentioned here: the quick look we had at the other two rooms was not different to our room!

We can only recommend to spent the effort and money to renovate the hotel and to attract the people to come back.
We are sorry about this review as Robert is a really nice person and the hotel has a really good potential.
