Value for money. No frills but great service. Close to town center and castle. Breakfast was minimal but you do get a 24/7 mini kitchen.

Just needed somewhere to have a roof over my head. Nothing special

Hostel was close to town and breakfast provided was filling. It's right by a busy road so may not be for light sleepers, but I am usually a light sleeper and I was fine.

Yes this is a no frills budget hostel ...but for £35 for a twin room you got an en- suite hot shower with shower gel ,shampoo , towels and a fast hairdryer 
TV and room was warm 
Bed was comfy with 2 pillows each
Central location 
A shared kitchenette where you could help yourself to tea , coffee and rich tea biscuits with access to a microwave, fridge plus cutlery and crockery 
Breakfast was tea or fresh coffee with orange or apple juice, choice of cereals , a cold hard boiled egg, toast ,cheese butter and jams
So for a night or two it ticked all the boxes if you’re looking for a good value budget accommodation ,
and yes I’d go back if I was in Dover again.

Check in was easy, showed to our room and how to work all the doors. Room was comfortable, kitchen was easily accessible. Very noisy location but perfect for going to the ferry.

Check in is easy, beds are very comfortable. Unfortunately it was very noisy due to being on the main road(cars and people walking past). Alma emailed the check in information as we were arriving late. This made check in possible at 1am. We would stay again but bring ear plugs.

Great value here. OK, it isn't flash but it was much better than the usual basic hostel. We had our own en suite room with TV, and the continental breakfast was pretty good. Although on a busy road, the traffic died away during the night and we had no trouble sleeping. The kitchen (microwave, kettle and toaster) was basic, but useful. The central location near to downtown,  the rail station and also the National Express bus stop was very convenient. WiFi was patchy however. Overall, our 3 night stay was very satisfactory, and we'd readily stay there again.

Parking was difficult. There was no parking on premises but had to park elsewhere and move the car by 9.30am

Lovely place.

Basic but has everything you need.

Welcome-
a blonde lady was in the cafe that they run downstairs but she appeared very arrogant, she didn’t speak English very well either. She warned us not to drink the tap water and gave us our code for the door to get into the hostel. She acted as if we didn’t speak English because she was typing in the numbers for us and was shouting them really loudly and repeating them over and over again even though we had the code on a small thin piece of card. We stayed in room 8 and the code was very simple. I don’t think they ever change them. The cafe smelt very old like.

First impression of room-
very small, claustrophobic like, we had booked a family room. Very cramped. as soon as I walked in I thought this will have to do just for one night. 

Beds-
two of the beds in the family room were very uncomfortable. The double bed and one of the single beds. They were both the ones that looked like they have been put on top of a table or platform. The bed that was separate from the others was incredibly comfy, in fact one of the best beds in a hostel I’ve ever slept on but the frame was very rusty indeed.

Lighting-
this is where the issue starts. The lighting is very located to one side of room and also lamps are on the same side. The lighting isn’t very balanced and makes the room look very dull.

Bathroom-
even more issues. the door was locked when we first approached it. We had travelled 7 hours in a car to get here and we just wanted to walk straight in to the toilet. there is a huge gaping hole behind the toilet and there was no toilet roll whatsoever! Luckily enough we were able to buy some from the spar across the road. The shower however was rusty but for a cheap hostel what do you expect. The mirror in the bathroom was very dirty as pictured and it’s very small too. Shower was cold, no hot water at all. The shower gel and shampoo containers seemed like they never get refilled.

Cleanliness-
was average. You can tell they don’t dust anything as there is cobwebs everywhere, I do have a fear of spiders. The atmosphere was fairly clean and I’m asthmatic. there seemed to be no apparent dust lying around on the ground except from the chairs of which were tremendously dirty. Carpet was ripped in the room and it was the first thing I noticed.

Plug sockets-
not all of them worked especially the ones closest to the beds. luckily enough I have a 2m charging cable. 

Kitchen(shared)-
tiny with three black seats. Wouldn’t trust the electrical appliances though. Milk and biscuits were out of date. 

Accessibility-
not suitable for disabled people or people who are unable to walk. stairs are very steep so any suitcases will be hard to get up them. There is no lifts whatsoever.

How I slept-
slept good, room was very hot though. Bed was comfy but my other family members found their beds uncomfortable. the noise outside was fairly quiet, didn’t wake up to anything. Our room was located towards the back of the building. 

As far as breakfast, I didn’t bother going. have heard that the eggs they cook are cold and I didn’t fancy getting sick.

Is this worth £70 a night?-
Not at all. I won’t be returning though. If you are looking for a cheap place to stay and you don’t care about the condition of the room then this is the place. You are better off paying like £10 more for the Premier Inn that’s about 5 minutes down the road.

This is what it is, a ‘cheap’ hostel, one of the cheapest in Dover. So one should not expect to much...but...
I’ve stayed in cheaper Hostels, and even hotels and this one compared to those considering amenities, quality, location this one rates as quite ordinary. We paid over 70 EUR for a ‘family’ room. Firstly, the pro’s:
-Location: In Dover close to the Ferry ports (reason why we stayed here). Close to the train station... but that also has the negative of many shady looking characters passing (and there were plenty). 
-Only stayed the one night but it was quiet. Even being on a main Road the traffic was not a noise issue for us
-Rooms: although old, rundown and outdated were clean enough without running a blue light over it. 
-Beds were ok (but we were tired)
-Parking: was able to park across the street. Being a Saturday evening it was free. Other times may be difficult. 
-Late night servo across the road. 
Cons:
-The building and room were old and rundown. For the price we paid it appears that nothing is being invested back into the place.. doors falling apart, loose handles and locks, old paint, sagging benches, old beds and linen. 
-NO HOT WATER....AT ALL!!
-Atmosphere: = None. We were greeted by a lady with zero personality who basically told us that if you need anything, don’t call. Hostels can be old but a good vibe with young happy guests can make it really good. This wasn’t it. 
-Access: Strict check-in/out times with no apparent flexibility (refer other reviews)
The steep, narrow staircase is difficult. Overnight bag is ok. 
-Breakfast: Can’t comment as we didn’t take ‘advantage’ of this apparent ‘gourmet treat’. We were scared off by past reviews
-WIFI: quality not known as did not use. 

Summary: Dover is a bit of a dump. Full of drunks and derro’s. The pubs were uninviting and full of local alco’s. Try the White Horse or Blake’s Hotel. We ate at Blake’s and the food was cheap and pretty good. The publican was a nice guy with a nice little bar downstairs and a lady playing live music. Otherwise the town was not overly nice. It has the feel of one big houso estate.  
Did it do the job? yes (just)
Would I stay there again? No
Would I recommend it? No
Stay out of Dover if you can. 


Just ok..

When checking us in the man was incredible rude - he made us feel like we were somehow inconveniencing him by asking him to check us in (i.e. do his job).The room was dusty and the bedsheets had black mildew and yellow stains on them... Loads of spider webs on the walls and ceilings.The bathroom was nice though.The guy told us breakfast was between 8 and 9, but when we went down at 8.50 everywhere was dark and locked up and there was no one to be seen.Really glad we had only booked this place for one night. Will never be staying here again - not a nice start to our holiday.  At least it was close to the ferry port so no need to worry about traffic in the morning.
