At first, we were disappointed because we booked through booking.com for a double room, we ended up with a twin room at the very top of the guesthouse which was quite a few flights of stairs to get to. The room was clean and tidy but being very tall probably wasn’t the best room. The bathroom was tiny, but functional.  The room was noisy due to a separate toilet being in the corridor for non ensuite customers. The mattress to the beds had seen better days and were thin and lumpy.  After speaking to the very friendly owners we realised that they were hoping to retire soon and sell the guesthouse. So buying new mattresses would be pointless. The breakfast was nice and the owners were very accommodating. 

Great location

Firstly a big thank you to Millie and Graham for making us feel so welcome. From the outside its just another b&b but as soon as you step inside its like you are their only guests. A great welcoming followed with as much guidance and advice about the island as you need. Very clean and well kept, we had tea and coffee facilities in our room and even an iron and board on the communal landing. A full English every morning (piping hot and not swimming in grease) but also a great choice of smaller breakfasts like scrambled egg on toast, beans on toast etc, juices,tea and coffee. Be aware that it's situated up a hill but the local buses stop just yards from the front door. All told this is a great guesthouse run by lovely people. Thanks again, Stef and Andy.

A home from home

We spent two nights here and got a warm welcome from Graham&Millie right from the word go.This is a good old fashioned comfortable guest house that doesn’t pretend to be something that it isn’t.Graham also cooks up a cracking breakfast which is piping hot and not swimming in grease.We wouldn’t hesitate in staying here again.

Great b&b with a warm welcome 

We were a few days on the island to visit the southern 100. We had 2 rooms one double and one twin. The double was to small for to people and their luggage, the twin was ok. Datet interior but clean. The owner was very friendly and helpfull. 

We have just returned from our 10 day visit to Douglas for the Manx Classic races. The Lansdowne is perfectly situated for anyone without transport just a 10 minute walk from the pits area, about the same to Bray Hill or about 15 to Quarterbridge. Graham and Millie are the perfect hosts, nothing seems to be a problem for them. We were a party of 7 assorted 2 couples plus singles so took a number of rooms. Every room was clean and comfortable. The en-suite facilities were more than adequate for our needs, not the largest but its not as if you spend hours in them, do you? Our room was right at the top and we had wonderful views over Douglas sea front and harbour, no trouble getting wi-fi and the usual tea & coffee available. We even had our own fridge in the room. Breakfast is in the dining room with Graham spinning the plates in the kitchen while Millie tends table. Pleanty to choose from on the menu and Graham is happy to mix and match to suit your taste, plus endless toast and tea or coffee. We were on motorcycles and were able to park right outside. As long as you don't block the pavement ( it was about 5 foot wide )  it is legal to do this on the Island. About 15 minutes walk gets you into the town centre with a vast choice of food outlets to suit your pocket or if you feel lazy there are several takeaway or sit in venues within 200 yards of the front door and a friendly "locals" pub just up the road for a good beer. Anyone who wants a good clean guesthouse at a reasonable price should try the Lansdowne personally I don't think you will find better.
