Nice clean Victorian guesthouse with lots of charm, good  hot breakfast..lovely eggs, with great service ,nice sea view ,close to shops and bus services ,I went in October there may have been a few ghosts around,I would stay again,good value and the people on Isle of Man are friendly and helpful to tourists .

despite  the bad reviews i had a great stay ,friendly staff , nice warm clean room ,good breakfast ,good location, bus ,nice sea view ,  the lift is out of action, but there are big steps to go into hotel , not suitable , if you need a lift

Was as stated and the host was super accomodating and thinking of the little things like my sweetners in the morning. she made everyone welcome these things are what makes a hotel stand out. Only negative was slightly uncomfortable bed.

Hotel was accommodating for late ferry arrival. Was fair enough for 3* Tesco vouchers used Good Towels and shower, adequate breakfast, no bar, no tea/coffee in the room, poor TV. Good to see it in operation where many close by have shut Trip was for Manx

This is not a hotel for tourists or visitors to The Isle of Man.
It is a hostel for lone single men who are not tourists. I suspect funded by the local authority.
There are no families or women staying there.
There is a weird atmosphere, the reception staff hide in a locked staff room, only appearing when someone rings the doorbell attached to the empty reception desk.
I booked to stay 7 nights but left after 1. (And booked elsewhere)
I went for a drink in the bar upon arrival, they don’t open it, there were 2 men sleeping on the sofas in the bar area.
The TV in my room had no signal.
I could not secure the lock in my room from inside because it had been tampered with.
They seem so proud that the lift doesn’t work that they tell me it’s mentioned on their website (why not just get it repaired?)
When I complained, before leaving the next morning, to the formidable manageress/owner, Mrs Bridgette McGuire, she was threatening & personally abusive.
“I’ll throw you in the sea, ‘cos you need a good wash” & “get out you baldy coot” she said, (I am bald).
Hardly the behaviour of someone running a respectable establishment.
She had all the charm of a spray of diarrhoea down a flaky brick wall (with the smell).

Nice enough hotel but communication appalling.I contacted the hotel after booking to ask them whether or not it was possible to adapt the breakfast (which is included in the price) to suit a vegan diet. No one ever responded and when I signed it at reception this had somehow been transcribed as 'gluten free'.I also messaged regarding the fact that we wouldn't arrive on the island til 22.00 due to the ferry times and enquired how I could get my room key. No response. Then ferry told me they would be 1hr late - so I would arrive after reception closed. I tried to contact them in advance on the day so they would be aware and gained assurance someone would be there to let us in.Unfortunately, when we turned up there was no one answering the door. There was a code I could have used, had anyone given it to me. There was no key for me, even though the other guest who was left waiting on the doorstep with me had a key ready in an envelope. The man who answered the door made it clear that I was at fault for arriving so late. I accept that I arrived 15 minutes after check in closed. However, I did advise them as far in advance as possible and was told that this would be ok.No apology was made (I did apologise for our lateness, which was outside my control) and I feel that the stress caused to myself, my son and to the adults on site on that evening could have potentially been avoided with better communication between the hotel and their booked customers.

Just returned from a 5 night stay at this hotel was ment to be staying at sea breeze but was moved to here the location is brilliant the bed and room was comfortable BUT the room was very dusty and the floors were not level there was only one power point in the room the breakfast was passable very limited choice and small portions and very cheap coffee. There is  a small number of migrants being housed at this hotel that i was not told about when my booking was moved The bar never opened the inside of the hotel was very dated and dark I wouldn't stay here again

Good stay at this location, very handy for trams and buses - good view from our room across the bay.

For a cheap and cheerful hotel, it fulfilled its purpose. Location was good, being a mile from the centre of Douglas and about a quarter of a mile to the electric train stop. The room was clean and the bed was comfy. Free breakfast which was cereal, toast and cooked English - absolutely adequate.

This is where the positives end. Booking so late, I had to book a room with a shared bathroom. This was very deceptive as there were no bathrooms with both a shower and toilet in the same room (aka a bathroom), but separate toilets (no sinks in the toilet room itself either) and then a separate room with a shower and sink next door. Not at all conducive to getting washed and freshened up in the morning or before dinner. In fact there was not even a working shower on my floor! The toilets themselves looked like they hadn't seen a bottle of toilet cleaner in years and one was used as an ashtray despite the hotel having prominent no smoking posters up everywhere.

The lift didn't work. I don't think it has ever worked!  Plus with 4 or more floors it would be unmanageable for most elderly people.

The decor in the hallways is dated.

It says there is a bar. It never opened. I feel it went the same way as the lift - it had never opened!

Would I stay here again? Probably not.
