Stayed here for 2 nights. Very nice studio. Lovely king-size bed. Very clean and comfortable. Very convenient for town centre and amenities. Would definitely recommend staying here. Nice and quiet location

Very nice couple of days

Stayed in the family lodge with partner + 2yo.
The accomodation was nice overall. Clean, tidy, nice little outdoor area which was lovely in the evening.

Unfortunately, the towel rail heater in the bathroom was on full pelt (in summer) at approx 3000 degrees, unclear how to turn it off. Tried a few random unlabelled switches around the bathroom area but it was still on. My 2 year old also discovered this and cried when she scalded her hand on it. So not ideal. (emailed host no response).

Also, my partner was surprised to find the hot water run out mid-shower with a large helping of conditioner still in her hair. Forced to evacuate the shower and wait for it to 'warm up' again (it didn't). Only I had a shower before her, not a particularly long one. If an actual family of 4 were staying in this lodge they would certainly not all be able to shower in the morning, which is obviously unacceptable, hence the 3 stars.

Lovely family lodge, reasonable price, questionable amenities, too hot too cold.

Stayed at Southern Wood B&B for a long weekend as a group of friends. The weather was glorious and we sat ouside in the sun enjoying the spectacle of a sky full of magnificent Red Kites. It was absolutely magical. It is a lovely place to stay, everything you need for a weekend  David, the owner was lovely. He saw that we were going to do a BBQ on a few disposables and offered us the use of his personal gas BBQ. It ran out of gas and we offered to pay for another cylinder, he was having none of it and gave us another one to use. Thank you. Can't recommend this place highly enough and we will certainly be returning.

Great place to stay.

With the current restrictions,  we had to find an appropriate venue. 
We found it here,  clean and cosy with all you need for a short stay, kitchen bathroom and double  plus a single bed.
As a group we hired 3 cabins between 6 of us.

Blessed with fabulous weather enjoyed the weekend,  especially as the owner lent us his huge Weber BBQ.

Fabulous weekend at Southern Wood.

After a rubbish lockdown year we have managed to get away and still keep social distancing. The cabins are brilliant and as the weather was amazing we even managed a bbq and the very kind owner left us his amazing bbq. Will definitely be returning!

Fabulous little find!

Changed my booking from premier inn to southern wood due to lockdown and no food provided at premier inn.

Stayed here Monday to Thursday.

Small kitchenette with stove top, fridge with freezer compartment microwave toaster and kettle.
All clean and working 

Bed was comfortable and very clean

Heating was controllable and you set the temperature.

Shower room and toilet clean, great shower.

Clean towels provided on my third day.

Room service bed made and room tidied and floor cleaned etc every day.

Verander to sit out watching the birds. Two chairs provided. Even saw red kites on the courtyard.

Will definitely stay here whenever I am working locally again.



Self contained

Stayed here last year, and had a good experience. Recommended it to friends for this year's visit to celebrate a mutual friend's birthday. We booked four cabins in total, on arrival at 4pm (the time we were told to check-in) the owner seemed put out that he had to be dealing with us in person. Two us wanted to pay him money as we were told we could pay at check in, and I needed the key combination to my room, due to not receiving an email that he kept on remarking I should have.  The room was clean, bed comfortable, but no cereal or bread provided, which it was last year, also no soap or shampoo for the shower. Can't say I will be recommending again, shame as had enjoyed my previous stay. 

Wouldn't recommend

We have stayed here a few times visiting family in Didcot The chalets are stunning everything you need for a weekend away spacious clean on arrival there’s milk sugar coffee cereal bottled water and juice in the fridge. Towels are also provided Thus is a little gem of a place would highly recommend wouldn’t stay anywhere else

Little gem

I booked this location as I needed to dash into Central London for dinner and drinks, but be away early in the morning without the hassle of having to fight through the M25 traffic. What a great location, central to south England, easy to head in any direction yet the fast trains into London run regularly and the station is just a 15min walk from the B&B.  I was well looked after from the outset, really polite, clean, friendly and a terrific room. What a superb idea to have these lodges.

Pubs nearby. (Good food too)
Continental breakfast in room (little kitchenette, with job, sink and fridge)
Great attention to detail.
What's not to like?
Will stay again.
Recommended.

Only thing I could fault was, posting said dvd player, but there wasn't one.
