Brilliant value for money, friendly staff and reasonable food. However the bar shuts at 8.30 which is the most ridiculous thing about this place and the nearest pub is a £8 Uber ride away! We were told that the bar shuts early so that the staff can finish early as it’s quiet at the moment! Not the service that we have grown to expect but kind of makes sense. We won’t be booking this hotel again for our workforce.

From the start of our stay we were impressed with the kindness of the staff here. Emma had a smile on her face that lights up the room! She is so bubbly and a credit to this hotel. Helped carry our luggage to the room as with 2 children juggling everything is always a struggle. The colouring sheets was a hit with the children keeping them entertained! Overall a great stay.

They called 2 times leading up to the stay in the week to check everything i meeded was done amd wuestions. Waited a bit as no one was on reception but honestly food was great. Room lovely for what we needed etc

Would recommend

This is a well placed and quiet hotel with free parking and an adjoining Table Table restaurant which is handy for breakfast and dinner.
The rooms are comfortable and clean with a great quality bed for a good night's sleep.
There are also complimentary toiletries and tea / coffee making facilities in the room.
The reception is 24 hour and the check-in staff are friendly and efficient.
Overall this hotel is exceptional value for money.

Great for an overnight stay and exceptional value for money

Whenever in Derby, the Premier Inn Derby South Hotel is our hotel of choice. Reasons for this include:

The welcome on arrival is warm and sincere, and the quality of service offered to us by the staff throughout our stay, which is normally for three nights, is high. We are a couple in our eighties, and the staff look after us and our needs accordingly and make no problem of it.  They handle children well too. 

Considering its location (close to a busy ring road), the bedrooms are surprisingly free from extraneous sound, and finding a car parking space is usually straightforward. 

The beds are very comfortable, the showers are easy to operate, and a bath mat for making the bath surface less slippy is readily available on request. 

The restaurant is easily reached without having to leave the hotel premises. Again, the staff are welcoming, and the choice of meals is adequate for our needs: the variety of dishes on offer is pleasingly diverse.  It can get a bit raucous in the restaurant on occasions when close to the bar area, but the staff are aware of this, and it is possible to book a table in areas that are less prone to such distractions. Food is well presented, and portions are ample. The breakfast deal is exceptionally good. 

We find it a cheery place in which to stay and, with only 50 or so rooms, it has an  intimacy about it which we appreciate. Nothing fancy, but solidly dependable and a place which always gives the impression of being well run by staff who really do care. 

Finding the hotel driveway is not wholly straightforward. The hotel can be seen from Osmaston Park Road, but the entrance is not on that road. It is via an insignificant looking minor road sited at a set of traffic lights on Sinfin Lane, not far from where Sinfin Lane joins Osmaston Park Road. Easy once you have done it for the first time!

Whatever direction you approach from, stay well clear of Derby's city centre, which is  a maze of one-way systems, poorly indicated bus lanes, and, as such, is a gold mine for the council when it comes to fining car drivers for 'getting it wrong'. 

Luckily, the local bus service into and out of the city is pretty good, and some parts of central Derby are worth visiting for their historical interest.  Derbyshire , Nottinghamshire, and Leicestershire are between them packed with interesting places to visit: loads of places reachable by car within 90 minutes from this hotel.

Always a warm welcome at this hotel.

1. On check-in I was told I must write on a scrap of paper my nationality. I questioned why, and received a vague "to identify you" response. I refused and said the manager could call me and explain why I needed to provide this to check-in. The receptionist said he would not check me in unless I gave this data on a scrap of paper to him. He also asked for my vehicle registration (partially understandable although there is an automated car registration screen on the wall) and my signature. There were zero logical reasons why I had to provide this data to check-in, when I had paid in full beforehand.

2. A receptionist needs to consider his hygiene. On day 2 I walked past him and the odour was palpable (this isn't a personal attack, just a reminder on brilliant basics). 

3. Of the three receptionists that were there in my 2 night stay, only 1 smiled/acknowledged my existence as I walked past. 

4. The bed was uncomfortable. The zip down the middle to join two singles was like crossing a mountain. 

5. Breakfast was nice. The staff in the Oust house pub are great. Scrambled eggs at breakfast was better than the place I typically stay when in Derby.


Terrible. I would not stay here if you are a single vulnerable traveller.

The room was as clean and tidy as expected from Premier Inn. There was a much needed fan available.
The receptionist was amazing in that she was listening and understood my needs.

Very Helpful Staff

Positives:
The staff were friendly and approachable. The room was clean and spacious. The staff in the restaurant were also extremely friendly and helpful. 

Negatives: 
The room had a bad overpowering sewage like odor which we believe was coming from the bathroom. The toilet did not flush properly and the shower had no pressure - was just a mere trickle. We spoke to reception about this after the first night and were told that our room was on the end of the corridor where there has been a sewage smell previously. She also said when everyone is taking a shower the pressure reduces, however everytime we took a shower the pressure was the same. As it was bank holiday no one could check the plumbing and we could not move room, so we had to put up with it for 2 nights. This really did ruin the experience as the smell was very strong, especially at night. The fan in the bathroom also did not work properly. 
Continental breakfast is limited in comparison to previous premier inns I have stayed at.

Bad sewage problem

We have stayed in a few premier inns round the country this was the worse one, the room temperature was to hot, food was awful not up to standard , was too noisy and the room was dirty the only nice thing was the lady at reception 

Not the best premier inn

Unwelcoming Reception Team. Only 3 channels on TV. Reception said they couldn't sort it. Needed an Engineer.
Cup in room was chipped. Standards very low here. One Receptionist told me she wanted to leave.
I don't want to know that.
Access from pub is 3 steps.
