Stopped for Sunday lunch, 5 adults and one dog. The staff were very friendly, and the food was delicious. Made even better by free desserts with the roast dinners. 5 happy diners, and one dog delighted with the treat she was given too. Definitely worth a visit, and great value too!

Lovely place to stay with our dog. Food was amazing. We stayed for 2 nights and had 2 evening meals (5 pies menu) and breakfast. Couldn't fault this place. Beer and the wine was excellent. Cosy bed and great staff. They kept the roaring fires going which was so cosy. Relaxed atmosphere and would return. Dog walks in lakeside 12 to 15 mins down the road fantastic. Boat cruise to Bowness and back was so refreshing. Best break I've had in some time. 

Service was excellent. Delicious salmon and chorizo fishcakes. Fresh salad tangy dip. Beautiful olde world inn. Proper latte coffee served with a smile. Tempted to book an overnight here as the place has a lovely atmosphere.

Turned up here as staying within walking distance hoping for some food. They had actually finished serving 15 minutes before but chef kindly agreed to feed us. Ah thank you. Anyway we were no bother and just had 2 ploughman's which were great. We also ended up taking part in the pub quiz which we hadn't known about in advance. Well what a fab night that was. The locals and staff were very welcoming, and the night was great fun. We appreciated the food and the beer was brilliant. Had a really great night and just sorry we didn't get back again but we were only there 3 days. And no we didn't win the quiz but it's the taking part that counts!!!

Me and my partner stayed here for one night before doing a sky dive locally. The room was lovely and clean and I loved the roll top bath. 
We ate here in the pub that evening and although the menu is quite small, the food is to a high standard and really delicious. 
We loved the character of the place and found it had a lovely atmosphere. Will definitely come again soon.

Excellent service provided by the hotel staff. Especially from Chad and wife team.

Visited this pub for a drink but ended up having a meal also.
Ambiance in the pub was very friendly on arrival and full of local,people. Place very clean and staff very friendly and nothing was to much trouble.
Ordered a meal. Starter and main course.  Food piping hot, Large portions and cooked to perfection despite it being very busy.
Glen the owner introduced himself and ensured we were happy with our meal.
I cannot recommend a nicer place to have a freshly cooked meal and drink.

Really lovely traditional Inn, quaint rooms in keeping with the Inns style, elegantly decorated with modern bathroom housing a fantastic rainfall shower and high end toiletries. Comfy bed and good facilities in rooms. We ate in the bar during our stay, can recommend the food with large portions and entertainment that evening was a great band. The breakfast is massive, high quality local ingredients. Wish we were staying longer and look forward to a return visit.

Had the cod cheeks starter from the specials board then the Salmon from the specials board, both of which were excellent. Great pub with fantastic friendly staff. Highly recommend with a locals feel and cheesy cask ales. Joe our server was knowledgeable,  friendly and very professional. Chefs obviously know their stuff too as food was brilliant. We visit often and love to eat and drink here.

Arrived hopeful rather than expectant, but am looking forward to another stay and for more than one night. Friendly, helpful staff. Comfortable clean room. A very good breakfast. Came away feeling relaxed and planning a return. Basically couldn't find fault

Great stay. Ignore negative reviews!! 

Stayed overnight which coincided with a music night which made our stay. Really busy Friday night. Had evening meal which was really filling and plenty of it. Both of us chose off the five pies menu. Then headed into the bar to watch the two bands which were very good. We found the staff to be good and friendly. The room was ok for one night and offered value for money in the Lakes. Breakfast was excellent which was in our room rate. We have no complaints and would return, ideally on a music night 👍

Great Overnight Stay

Fantastic night with great service, great beer and pub quiz!!

Lovely pub with lots of character.

Me and my girlfriend came for two nights, the food was excellent, the breakfast baps are so tasty! The staff are very welcoming and friendly, easy to chat too. 

Good location to get to different parts of the Lake District. 

One bit of feedback is that in our booking we were told that breakfast was included in the final booking price, but instead we had to pay for it both mornings.

Overall would stay again and would recommend to friends and family looking to visit the Lake District!

Lovely meal and ambiance

Hidden Gem!

We were greeted by friendly staff and shown to our table  Drinks order was taken and we were left to look at the menu after specials had been told to us. The dog was made very welcome. After our daughter and friend arrived we ordered food. 
The food was excellent we all really enjoyed it, Glen explained they are going to offer more vegetarian and vegan choices on the new menu. We will recommend a visit to our friends and we will go again next time we are up this way.
