Oh wow - what a hotel....stayed there 3 times over 6/7 months...travelling around like sales men used to do, few odd years ago the last time was.

Did not think this place was even still open - so ill give them a review...somehow its important..

Yeah sure the rooms are bit victorian & needs more staff. 

And yeah its a place for students mainly to come and have their encounters with, so it can be noisy for 10-20 mins in the early hours sometimes.

But, after 4 random encounters with the lovely local ladies there - I will say this

This place is like the old godzilla movies from the 1970's.....so bad...yet so good

happy trails...

Frequently visit Cardiff but a first with this hotel - just a short walk or bus to city centre. It's a substantial building (late 19th century) for a person of importance employed down the docks. Consequently it features lots of artefacts & wood paneling etc. Rooms are quite spacious & we slept well & enjoyed a hearty breakfast cooked to your taste- brilliant. Parking free a bonus & overall a pleasant stay. And maybe again.

Catching up with friends.

Stayed overnight after seeing Ed Sheeran in concert. Nice & nearby the stadium and had lovely walk into centre along the river & through the park. Prices were overinflated because of the concert,but we had a warm welcome by the manager who single handedly it seems juggles the jobs of receptionist, cleaner & cook. She deserved a gold star from the owners who appear to show little interest in raising the standard of the decor/ facilities. On the plus side the bed was very comfortable and clean and the white towels were the softest I’ve ever experienced in a hotel. 

Good location, but needed TLC 

Booked for 2 nights - stayed for one and that was one too many! The over whelming smell as we arrived and walked in the front door was that of greasy food and cigarette smoke! We booked what is described as the family room which turned out to be up on the top floor (read as attic) with a bathroom that had a shower tucked under the eaves and only a 5 year old would be able to stand under. The website does not show a picture of this room!! We now know why....The stairs led up to the bedroom with NO safety gate at the top of the stairs.  As a family room this is not acceptable and dangerous. There was a hole in the ceiling. The carpet was filthy - i refused to put my bare feet on it.  We had a 'fight' between who we later found out was a group of girls, swearing and banging doors from early in the morning until approximately 5.00am.  The breakfast was a greasy plate of tasteless food. The clean bed sheets were placed on the dirty carpet outside each room ready for cleaning. We could not stay there another night and promptly left the next morning booking ourselves into somewhere else for the rest of the weekend. DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL........

Do take a look at my photos which speaks for itself.  The pictures advertising this hotel are not a true reflection.  The lounge area belongs to the Manager and is private!!  The bar area does not even function i.e. the said bar is full of dirty washing and rubbish.  Please note there are NO FLAT SCREEN TVs, NO HAIRDRYERS, NO IRONING FACILITIES.... all of which are advertised via booking.com.  Outside our bedroom window was an old dirty matress!!  There were cigarette burns in the window sills.  The shower stank of stagnant water.  Uncomfortable beds with no mattress protection....I could go on and on.   I actually cannot believe that a hotel is able to advertise via booking.com, sell their rooms and services and then not provide what they advertise and to add insult to injury, neither are prepared to accept liability for false advertising.  It is beyond belief that this place is trading at all.  NEVER pay your money before looking at the room and facilities...….

Whatever you do, DO NOT BOOK this hotel

Very tired establishment. Poor bathroom facilities and little water pressure for the shower which was very poor for the price we paid.
The street it's on is lovely with nice pubs and down the road from the stadium.
