The Swan Hotel

Stayed over on the way to France via Plymouth.
Rooms were basic but clean and usable. Beds were very comfortable.
The restaurant/pub was pleasant and cosy.
The food was very nice and well presented. I would highly reccomend the scotch egg starter/light bite, absolutely stunning!
The young man behind the bar was excellent, very welcoming and helpful. Attentive, well mannered and really worked hard to make our stay comfortable and pleasant. 
The Swan is a cheaper and more pleasant alternative to your run of the mill budget hotel type of accomodation.

Better than the big chain budget hotels! Great value for money!

We stayed 1 night, our room was clean and very comfortable,  there was only 1 bedside light on my side of the bed, a second would have been useful! Bathroom a bit dated and in need of an overhaul. We ate and the food was excellent, they were able to cater for my Coeliac Disease with gluten free options without problem. No after effects so they got it right.

Pleasant overnight stay!

Hotel/pub stay, great food and staff very friendly.
Hotel rooms very dated and cobwebs every where, and really needs updating. Clean sheets and towels, do all good, however when book, stated B&B, but no breakfast? Had to go to hotel next door, breakfast over cooked and cold .
Would not stay again.

Very disappointed .

I often visit The Swan for drinks and meals and it never fails to disappoint. The staff are all lovely and the food is very good. Had the recent Valentine’s menu there last Saturday and the quality of the meal was exceptional.

Excellent service and delicious food

Popped in here for a drink a number of times over the last year or so . It could be so much nicer … please please please refurbish your ladies and gents ! They are getting smellier and smellier ! It’s really starting to put me off wanting to visit , which is a shame as it’s a decent pub

Stayed one night in October, our room was dreadful, Our room was a disgrace and in my opinion worth less than half of what we paid for the room (no breakfast).
The whole accommodation (bedroom and bathroom) needs a complete overhaul. 
I emailed the manager,  Kai  the following day as no one could take any action about my complaint. No response from him. If there had been an alternative place to stay we would have left. Sadly I’m unable to upload the photos.
Just gross!

Health Hazard - Don’t stay here!

What a horrible, dirty, disgusting place. The rooms are situated in an outbuilding in the yard behind the premises where the smoking area is located. My Room-Number three , radiator lying on floor, neither bedside lamps working, walls dirty and stained as was the carpet, No sheets on the bed, bathroom filthy and to cap it all off we were informed NO BREAKFAST!!!!!! The bar area, full of tables with dirty sticky tops, no lace in the bar to sit to have a drink, food horrendous, how this place is operating is beyond me. Do not stay here .

Dirty, Dirty, Dump of a Place

Book a room here disgusting is really a polite word for it. Room 7 mould in the fridge, door jammed could not open from the inside my Husband had to use a spoon to try and release the door catch which if there was a fire you would not get put. Never have I been to such a terrible place . Booked it as bed/breakfast to be told don't do breakfast anymore. Went into bar and got a refund. Nobody should book this place it should be closed down

Absolutely disgusting

They're losing it badly.

I ordered a Negroni (on the cocktail menu). Waitress asked senior guy how to make it. He clearly didn't know how to do it, as he proceeded to use a shaker.

Asparagus starter was cold and tasteless. "Slow cooked egg" was truly disgusting, with cold, liquid egg white ruining the dish. This is a basic failure to understand how ingredients work.

Fillet steak was cooked correctly on one side but the chef clearly didn't the understand importance of cooking both sides evenly. I ordered it cooked medium but it was hopelessly under-cooked. 

The Swan used to be my favourite destination for decent food in the culinary desert that is North Bristol but that ship has sailed. A real shame.

Shame - Food Used to be Good

I booked this for  one night after visting The Wave - 10 mniutes away by car. The rooms are in a building next to the pub. Comfortable double bed and good sized room. No available wifi in bedroom. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms overlook the A38 so there is some traffic noise - take earplugs if this is likely to bother you. Fantastic breakfast (taken in the pub) - there were 4 choices on the menu I wanted - and I am not a meat-eater. Free car park at the back. Covid-aware.
