We have just come back from a weekend break for our 2nd wedding anniversary, stayed in the granary and it was fabulous! Check in and out was easy, no stress, everything as mentioned in booking, very roomy, beautiful cottage, quiet and tranquil. Will definitely be coming again. Thank you!

Perfect break away

We booked a trip for NYE, myself and my flatmates from Uni. 
When fresh restrictions were implemented across the U.K. we decided to cancel the booking. 
Liz promised us a refund, which gave us the confidence to cancel. Once we had cancelled, Liz ceased to speak to us, instead referring us to Air Bnb customer services every time. But continually denying our refund. 
Eventually, through Airbnb, we were able to prove that Liz was backing out of her promise, and if fact was acting unlawfully, so we were granted a full refund. 

Beware of this host.

Tried to cheat us!

Overall, we had a nice stay here. Elizabeth greeted us a couple of hours after arrival and was quick to respond to our messages. 

However, we booked this place solely based upon having the advertised hot tub. The cottage is nice and well presented, but not worth the high price without the advertised amenities for your full stay. 

We were extremely disappointed by the lack of communication surrounding the lack of hot tub availability. 

We were not informed that there would be no access to the hot tub on the first night and we were only there for two nights. 
It was explained, after our arrival, that there is an increased hot tub cleaning regime that Elizabeth has brought in. This is not stated in Airbnb's increased safety procedures either and therefore, we were not expecting this. 
This property is at least 30% more expensive than other similar properties in the area without one. 

We only found out that the hot tub was too cold for use upon attempting to get in. 

There is a very steep staircase in the property, please do be aware of this. Beds were made up and towels are supplied which was a nice touch. The hot tub and garden areas can be overlooked by one of the other properties, but overall the farm is fairly secluded.

This place was absolutely perfect. It was quiet we weren’t disturbed the atmosphere was great. We had full use of the hot tub and sauna. Would come back again. The farm was beautiful and we got to see some animals too.

Weekend getaway

What a wonderful place to be.from the moment you drive in the farm you feel like you are taken back to your childhood.my partner and I spent a weekend in the old mill with her son.the moment you wake up there is peace and tranquility very quite farm.every one there is so friendly.the booking process is a doddle fast easy and pain free. Liz (the owner) was so accommodating to our questions and needs.the farm its self is set in the middle of nearly 400 acres of old english farm land. The walks and wildlife was so special and there was a farm dog tess that played with my partner's son daily and came with us on our walks.the old mill was so warm and homely.set in the middle of somerset easy access to the whole of Somerset and Devon. Best holiday I have had for years i will definitely be returning it will have to be for a week or maybe two because there is so much to do and see.if you are looking for a traditional english holiday summer or winter this is the place to be

Fantastic holiday!!!!

We have just come back from a weekend here & stayed in The Old Mill. Upon arrival Liz came to greet us on our 1st evening there along with her sheep dog ‘Tess’. There was 8 of us in our party including our 2 children & our friends 2 children. Both sets of children are familiar with animals, especially dogs so one of the 1st questions we put forward to Liz was weather her dog ‘Tess’ was friendly & approachable to which she replied with ‘yes, she’s very friendly’. Over the next couple of days ‘Tess’ was around us & the children when we were located outside. The children were very respectful to ‘Tess’ & her personal space & they managed to get a few games of fetch the stick with her which was lovely to see. Then came the morning we were due to leave... I was outside with all the children whilst other members of our party were loading up our cars & ‘Tess’ came to join us outside on the grass. All was well until my Son stroked ‘Tess’ (which he had done numerous days before with no issues) ‘Tess’ jumped up at him & bit my son’s arm leaving puncher wounds & blood. (pictures attached) My 4 year old Son was absolutely terrified along with our friends other children. After rushing him inside & dealing with his injuries I called Liz on the number that she had left incase we needed to speak to her. I asked her politely to please come down to The Old Mill to speak to me about the incident to which she replied ‘she was in the middle of a field & was too busy’ she said she would locate 1 of her sons to come & see us but they were also ‘unavailable’. I suggested to her that maybe it might be an idea in the future to keep ‘Tess’ away from guests during their stay as she can quite obviously be very unpredictable. Liz responded to my suggestion with ‘well, I think you’ve been incredibly irresponsible as a parent to allow your child to touch a farm dog, it’s incredibly dangerous’ I shall not repeat my reply to her but as you can imagine it wasn’t pleasant. If we had known that ‘Tess’ is dangerous as Liz put it then of-course we would have never ever allowed our children to be around her (or even booked to stay there) but considering we double checked with Liz whether she was friendly then I’m pretty sure Liz is the one who put all our children in danger during our stay. The police have been informed, they have taken my statement, they will also gather information from the hospital at which my Son attend for the injury’s. There was no remorse from Liz or her family. No one came to see us or to even check if my Son was ok. The way the whole situation has been dealt with is utterly disgusting. So, I plead with you if you’re reading this & have children & our considering booking your stay here... DON’T! 

Just a few other points to mention reading the actual barn itself, the cutlery is extremely blunt, most of the lightbulbs in lamps don’t work, the downstairs shower is leaking constantly which produces an awful damp smell, some of the buttons on the hot tub do not work at all, the TV sometimes decides it would like to allow you to have sound or a picture & sometimes not, the rug in the lounge is absolutely filthy & tangled with hair upon hair. The list goes on. For what we paid to stay there in my opinion is not worth the money at all & to be honest has cost us more as a family as it was a weekend away with memories for all the wrong reasons!

BEWARE!!!!

We booked the Old Mill and the Granary cottages for a 2 night stay to celebrate a Hen weekend with 17 ladies. The rural setting was beautiful and the accommodation was excellent, lovely original features and comfortable throughout. Very clean, nice size bedrooms, bathroom and shower facilities were great too. The Kitchen and living room areas were large enough to accommodate all 17 of us in both the Old Mill and Granary during our stay. We booked a three course meal through STC catering during our stay, which was fantastic and would recommend. Hot tub and Sauna were an excellent addition and we made use of them. Liz was great to deal with from the start to the end of our booking experience. I would highly recommend!

Booked for a Hen Weekend - June 2019

We booked Meare Court for a hen weekend with 15 ladies, and had such a fantastic time. It’s beautiful and exactly what we were hoping for! We had full use of the hot tub, massages, a dance class with Angela who was absolutely lovely, a 3 course meal prepared by Vincent (Papou’s catering) which was delicious and a butler in the buff! Highly recommend!

Highly recommend!

We hired out the Granary and The Barn for my mums 60th birthday with 14 guests. Liz was an amazing host and helped answer every question and query I had. We had a lovely spa day on the Saturday but mostly just enjoyed the surroundings and gorgeous weather. Can not wait to come back with the rest of the family.

BEautiful Stay

A great facility in a great location, with everything you need on site or close by.  It was really good to have so much space both inside and out of this character house - as a party of 11 ladies need this!   Its easy to imagine it suiting various groups of family and friends.  We were so lucky with the weather - which always helps but I'm sure we would still have enjoyed out stay.   It would have been useful to have some moveable outdoor furniture - to catch the sunny areas of the garden.
