Ascot Hotel

Just returning from a 4 night stay, family of 4. We were greeted by John who was very friendly and met his wife at breakfast who was also very friendly. We stayed in a 2 bedroom family room which was spacious and had a recently refurbished bathroom. Bed were comfy and each room had own TV so kids could watch their kids stuff. Kettle and tea/coffee tray in room. Wardrobe area and drawers. Breakfast the next day was lovely, eggs as nice as other reviews suggested. Location was good inbetween south and central piers. About 30 mins walk to tower which isn’t too bad but also tram stop at top of street if preferred. Only disappointment was lack of bar. Recent trip advisor reviews suggested good bar with pool table. This was part of my criteria when choosing a hotel so was disappointed that this has recently been removed due to regular trouble which is understandable. We did find some bars that welcomed children so didn’t miss it the first 3 nights but on the Saturday night all the family places were absolutely packed with no room to sit so after trying several we had visited on previous nights without getting a table we headed back to the hotel and had an early night. This is the time a hotel bar would have been nice. It wouldn’t put us off staying again but thought it was worth a mention to avoid disappointment if this is criteria for anyone else. Its not actually advertised on website so I should have realised instead of looking at reviews. Anyway had a great stay and would definitely recommend this hotel.
