Poor hotel, very second grade, the manager here had a very poor attitude and was totally unhelpful. I’d never stay again. Another occasion I even asked to use the toilet while I was charging my car and was flatly denied as that occasion I wasn’t staying in a room. Won’t consider it again

I paid £79 for my stay, which was for a double room with breakfast. I needed a hotel as I was working in the area for two days. I had previously stayed the week before at the Holiday Inn Express close to the airport. Whilst I paid £95 for that room, it was in another league. The staff and facilities were so much better and it is in a nicer area.
The whole hotel looks run-down and the room was very basic. The mattress has seen better days and was very thin and you could feel the springs through it. The member of staff at check-out didn't ask how my stay was. The area that the htoel is in, is also not the best to say the least!

Basic hotel in a rough area, in need of renovating

On a recent bus tour, we spent one night at this hotel. The hotel seems to be new to Best Western and there were limitations. 
The bedroom was clean and comfortable as were the beds. However there was no air-conditioning so we had to sleep with the windows open. This gave rise to another problem as there is a mainline railway station in close proximity. The double glazing in the windows was poor and this did not reduce the train noise. There was no fridge in the room which was a disappointment.
The food menu was lacking in choice; three dishes, one Indian, one Mexican and one Italian. The food was good but a traditional English dish should have been provided. The curry was quite good.
The bar was fresh out of Fawlty Towers; the barman had no experience of bar work as a result of which service was slow and a queue formed. The bottle of Australian shiraz was good value for the price.
Breakfast was good and consisted of egg, bacon, hash brown and beans. We weren't asked to order, it all came plated up.
The staff were friendly but some were inexperienced. There was nothing that training will not rectify.
I would definitely stay there again in spite of the shortcomings.

One night in Acock's Green

Staff food and cleanliness good. Some issues in room, curtains I'll fitting and stained, window not closing tightly so noise from road, tap dodgy and hard to turn off but worked sometimes. Lots hot water lovely fluffy clean towels nice soaps in dispensers and a bath!

Got into the hotel the receptionist was very moody and rude
Got to my room which was smelling really bad Got to the bed and there was stains middle of the bed which I could not sleep on as it looked like cum stains.

Avoid this hotel at all cost. Dirty bedding and rude staff

The hotel definitely needs updating of decor and carpets in the corridors and stairs. Bed uncomfortable and dipped in the middle. Bathroom clean and fresh. The bed seemed squeezed in and small gap to get past the bed to the bathroom, kept kicking the bed wheel and cut toes.
Both door key cards worked on about the 10th time.
Staff were friendly, not a great breakfast as given a brown paper bag to take to our room, with very little choice.
For the cost, i suppose you get what you pay for!! great for a cheap overnight stay:)

Not the greatest hotel but average

Wifey and I have just come back from a 6 night stay at this hotel.  Our son lives in Birmingham and should have been having his graduation ceremony which was cancelled due to the Coronavirus outbreak.   We had the time off booked so decided to come up and visit anyways.  

The hotel had only just reopened for business and there were some restrictions in place as a result of the virus.  

The room was a pleasant surprise, spacious, light and airy, if a tad warm as the radiator had been turned on.  The bed was comfy and the bathroom nice a clean with reasonable pressure to the shower.  Could have done with a little more storage but then I don't expect too many people stay for more than a couple of nights normally.  We did discover that the seal round one of the double glazed windows was not very tight so, with the room being at the front of the hotel, some traffic noise filtered through into the room.    Being a light sleeper this was a bit annoying for me as the local emergency services do like to use their two tones at all hours of the night.  Also the guest above us must have been wearing hobnail boots round their room as we could hear every footstep as they wandered around at 3am!   Restrictions also meant that the room was not serviced every day but was cleaned and the bed changed just the once but this was not a problem for us. 

We had booked bed and breakfast so I was rather looking forward to my full English every day so you can imagine my disappointment when breakfast was just a grab and go bag.   The kitchen and bar at the hotel remain closed for the time being so breakfast consists of a bottle of water, carton of juice, croissant, blueberry muffin (the best bit), a piece of packaged cheese, a small container of jam and a piece of fruit.  This is fine and full credit to the hotel for trying their best but after the third day it was a bit dull.  The staff are brilliant and even showed concern when we stopped taking all the breakfast bag, thinking that my wife was not eating properly. (We did find a little coffee shop just over the railway bridge called Marshalls where bacon and sausage was available)  The hotel bar was also closed which was a shame and obviously we could not get an evening meal if we had wanted one.   

The hotel is right next to Acocks Green station with two trains an hour into Birmingham on the current timetable.  Once things are more normal I imagine there would be maybe one more as currently there is a 40 minute gap if you miss the 43 minutes past train.  

The hotel itself is doing what it can to survive and they told use they have an agreement with three airlines for their staff to stay at the hotel which explains the comings and goings at al hours of the day and night. I cannot fault the staff who were all lovely and nothing was ever too much trouble.  We hope to come back and stay here again and look forward to seeing how it is in more normal times.  (If only to try their cooked breakfast and enjoy a beer or two)

Good hotel with station right next door.

Regularly use this hotel for buisness accommodation. The staff are friendly and helpful, I always get a family welcome whenever I check in. The food is always excellent and the chef is always pleased to cook something else if I feel like a change from the regular menu. The rooms are always cleaned to a spotless condition. The cost of the acomodation is very reasonable.

“Double bed” was two singles pushed together which left a dip in the middle of the bed - I found this annoying but managed to get some sleep regardless. I Checked in around 10pm and out at 9am. All staff I met were extremely hrlpfeul, knowledge and accommodating. The chef made me a “not on the menu” breakfast which I really appreciated. I would def stay here again - excallent

Booked by our company, a large group stayed at this hotel for 4 to 5 nights. Rooms are tired: creaking floorboards in my room disturbed my colleague in the next room, wardrobe wouldn’t close, large cracks in the walls, mould in the bathroom. 

Greeting at reception was usually blunt. I even tried initiating contact with a cheery hello, to get a curt “hi” back. At no point  was I asked how my stay was. 

Most of my colleagues eat elsewhere after the first night because of the poor service which was also blunt to the point of almost being rude. Food was OK in the restaurant and of reasonable value if food was a little slow to come out of the kitchen. 

What sums up this hotel the best is the breakfast experience. On the first morning we were told on trying to order that there was a fault with equipment and an engineer was working on the problem. This should have been communicated to us sooner.  The following morning I requested 2 poached eggs and 3 rashers of bacon to be told “no, you can have two rashers”, which is what arrived. The following morning I asked for “bacon and poached eggs please” and was told you can have eggs benedict, so I ordered that without the toast or hollandaise sauce. My colleague who was not having a cooked breakfast just ordered bacon which he shared among us. 

Not the service expected in modern times. A little politeness and flexiblity would have gone a long way to making this a better visit rather than leaving us disappointed. 

We have all requested that our company do not use Sure Inns again.
