I want to recommend this Inn.  The owners and staff are very helpful and friendly.  We only stayed one night but I would love to go back again.  One of my daughters and I don't sleep well,  but the beds were so comfortable,  we both slept like logs. The rooms are very modern and have a  shower over a bath. Luxury! The food was good and at a reasonable price.  They have a lot of regulars, and I'm not surprised.  It's only 10 minutes drive from West Midlands Safari Park and various other sight seeing locations,  including a local forest. A lovely place to spend a break. 

Excellent stay at the Royal Forester Inn

This review is based off Tipically Inspired Bonfire held and Far Forest Showground, keeping in mind that I know a lot of staff also work with Tipically Inspired. Last year we attended Himley Bonfire which compared to Tipically Inspireds event was terrible! The food selection was amazing, there was just enough stalls and rides so you didnt get overwhelmed, it was busy but not so packed you couldnt move, and there was a great view of fireworks which lasted so long I actually wondered if they were going to stop! Thanks to Mark and the crew (Mark also bought gluten free buns for my partner who is celiac) who made rhe night great. Bar staff just kept going and were brilliant. The band were a great end and the whole event was something we’ll definitely be going back to. I know that there was another event at Hopton Court which didnt go to plan but this is not a reflection on Tipically Inspired as I said the event on Friday was great. Lots of choice for gluten free on the food stalls and there were normal toilets as well as portaloos which was a plus. Well done to everyone, see you next year!

5 star Bonfire night!

Well it started off OK rooms OK and food was nice took a long time on Friday as we arrived late but was OK but Saturday we booked to go to west midlands safari park and we have come all the way from Wales as a early halloween treat was so disappointed in you told us you have events and some time live music on weekends but failed to tell us apon arrival. That you did have something on so we had been out all day busy children 1 6 and 14 all tired to see there was an event for a birthday party to the ask when it was finishing at 11 to then have music pounding from 7.30 till actually 12 o'clock and I did go down 3 times asked could base be turned down as the thudding was so loud in are room but no one listened to the have to go down as children was tired at 11.40 to ask when music was going  off and was td they would turn it down so was not what you agreed by message and we had no email but was told we did that it was on I am not a happy customer will really think about coming back a shame as we said it was nice but I will be talking to management in the morning as management at night clearly don't want to listen to other customers yes your party spent money but so did me and my family over 3 4 hundred as we eat both nights in your restraunt too 

No sleep music not turned of when stated thumping banging 

We had booked a room here just this morning on line. We rang the hotel to confirm all was ok as we were having to drive three hours to get here. My husbands mother had passed away yesterday evening. So all a bit rushed. On arriving at the Inn the chap behind the bar said there was no booking for us. We even showed him the confirmation on our card. Nope no one to help with this situation. They were fully booked and could not explain the conversation we had had that morning confirming our booking was confirmed. Really not good enough and more stress added to an already emotionally charged day.

Bad Form

Nice size rooms, but they need some updating. My room had a number of issues. The shower came on at 2.30am, much to my surprise. It would seem that although it turned off after I had showered earlier, it was not fully turned off and came back on. The tap handle came off in my hand each time i used it, etc. little things that just need attention. Also the only air was from the velux window right above the bed, so opening just a crack meant the noise from the A456 all night was too much. This is a major trunk road for trucks. 

Rooms need some updating. Road noise all night. 

Shocking service ordered a few kids meals and waited over an hour for them to come out! Once they came out some had to be returned as they were incorrect. Tables complaint due to waiting times and incorrect food staff didn’t seem to care and no communication! Extremely dissatisfied at service quality and customer service!   

Shocked and dissatisfied 

This review is purely about lack of of communication prior to a stay. I’d booked a Saturday night in January to stay and was looking forward to a relaxing evening including a nice hot meal. However, on arrival I was told there was a band on til late and as such the kitchen wasn’t open so no food was available to guests after lunchtime. I fully accept it’s a pub and as such may have bands playing but not updating booked guests that the kitchen is closed is inexcusable. when I told them I wasn’t staying because of the kitchen being closed I was told they’d updated their social media which I don’t follow. No refund partial or otherwise was offered.
As I said at the start, I am only commenting on poor communication. The pub itself looked very nice and the room when I was shown to it also looks very nice, but I can’t comment any further than that on either meals drinks or the room. 
My suggestion to anyone considering booking an overnight stay here, would be to double check that the kitchen is open if you want a meal.

Nice looking pub and rooms, but very poor communication

What a fantastic place. On arrival met with nice welcome, took me to room and showed me around the place. 
Evening meal, the place was busy with locals as well as business people. The menu was local produce, and varied. The food ordered was really good and tasty. 
Breakfast was also very good and cooked to order. 
The room i was in was the plum room, what a surprise it was decorated really well. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was spacious and was well equipped and Shower was powerful. 
This was a quality AA 4 star place. Well worth a visit and stay and would recommend to any body.

Lovely large family room with super king size bed plus extra bed if needed. Modern bathroom with full bath as well as power shower. Very warm and comforting. Great hosts and staff. Fab food virtually all day long and well looked after fizzy and real ale beers. All in all, if you are looking at staying in this area then this pub offers excellent value for money rooms. 

No need to look further. Stay here! 

We found the Sea Shack almost by accident while walking the Southwest coastal path between Goodrington Sands and Broadsands near Torquay. It was a real treasure..warm and friendly..with a good range of hot food at lunchtime...breakfasts etc until 11am. Nice decor with a driftwood theme. Clean toilets. And great scrambled eggs on toast! They even found me some gluten free bread. It was a bit after 11 when we went in but they got us a breakfast skyway as it was quiet. And some local dog walkers joined us later. 
It's a bit tucked away up a side street that goes under the railway to the beach. Worth a detour if you're in search of a break.
