The Steading Highland Glen Lodge

My partner and I stayed here two nights as I was taking part in The Loch Ness Marathon. This was a really cosy and quirky place and was absolutely ideal for what we needed. The beds were comfy, the twin room we were in was spacious, with a separate little lounge and dining area with a table and fridge alongside complimentary lemonades, all types of teas, coffee and hot chocolate. They also provided loads of milks too which I loved as they never usually give you enough milks in hotels and BnBs! The TV worked fine and there was plenty of space, hangers, drawers etc for all our gear. The hosts were very friendly and accommodating. They made me a huge bowl of lovely porridge on marathon day, and the next day we had the full breakfast, which was smashing. I wholeheartedly advise you to ignore the reviews saying it's all tired and smells damp. It's true that it's been renovated over the years with various mismatching bits of wood etc but we actually really liked that and thought it added to the old Scottish lodge type charm! It's warm, safe and cosy and we certainly didn't notice any smell. Yes the outside is a little overgrown but it's not that bad and you've got plenty of other beautiful scenery around to look at - you're at Loch Ness! Location is about 6 miles or so from the local village with the Loch Ness Hub, some lovely pubs that do great food and a coop and takeaways etc. The hosts also informed us that should we wish to buy food to bring back she could provide us with plates, etc, which was nice. On the whole we would wholeheartedly recommend.
